Shnootz - Reaction Video (Electronic - Getting Away with It)
What's shaking, folks! I'm back with another Electronic reaction from the vinyl copy of I just received of their 1991 self-titled album (shout-out to Erik!), and this time we listen to the excellent "Getting Away with It," which features Neil from Pet Shop Boys on vocals (not sure whether Chris is co-producing, but I would assume so). Indeed, this track has a great sound and that unmistakable PSB feeling, so join me for a top track from this version of the album. Cheers!

When new order, the smiths and PSB come together you know you’ve got a super group. Amazing, the soundtrack of my teen years!
I haven't heard this song for a long time. It reminds me of my misspent youth.
What a tune. Bernard wrote the verses, Johnny the chorus, Neil and Bernard wrote the lyrics and Chris worked on the bassline. Anne Dudley did the strings The lyrics are a parody of Morrissey, "I've been forcing myself not to forget, just to feel worse", It's gorgeous, wistful and melancholy but lifted up by the strings and the italian house piano which give it some dance influences.
Beautiful. Alongside 'Disappoined'. I love how British this sounds
Love this song, it got a lot of airplay on the local alternative radio station here in Columbus. The song is a perfect blend of New Order and Pet Shop Boys, the biting lyrics, haunting vocal delivery and incredible bass lines of New Order and the delicious Spanish guitar reminiscent of Domino Dancing and strings of Pet Shop Boys. Great great song!
Absolute classic. Seem to remember it's about Morrissey. Might be wrong.
This was the first single in 1989. The album came later on and not released until 1991 and this wasn't included on the UK release. So it always felt very separate to the album (orange cover) until it was included on the reissued version (black cover). All info that may or may not be of any interest.
Hey, Matt! As some fellow commentators pointed out, you’re not done with this until you react to “Disappointed”. It’s Neil on vocals all the way through, a masterpiece of a tune! While I like Getting away with it, Disappointed though is the best Electronic tune for me! As it was mentioned, it was a one-off single, then it was included in the re-issue of this album, I think in 1992.😉
This was their biggest hit , or most well known. Nice to hear both Bernerd and Neil share vocals.

I have to call shenanigans on this. The line about walking in the rain on purpose...........he is from Manchester. What a crock!
Ah yes, 1989. The deejay at my favorite club would mix this with PSB "Alright". I don't remember in which order or which mix of each track he used to accomplish this feat. But the two songs are inextricably linked in my mind for that reason. Needless to say, yours truly was in heaven.
The album is listed as 1991, but this song came out in 1989.
They had a non-album single called Disappointed. Not sure if you've reacted to that?
This is their best song❤

I think Disappointed is better.

Of course it is in the folder. Are you calling me out? Did JG put you up to this?

I haven't watched this video yet, but I believe I said "I'm sure it was already in the folder" or something to that effect? It was a positive question (meaning I assumed the answer was "yes").

@@mattsnider2667 Nah, you're toast. I am getting Paul McKenna to hypnotise you, convince you that all your vinyl is liquorice and you will eat Exciter.
The best track on the album in my opinion. But you really now need to review new order as this band is just an offshoot. 😊
A near perfect record....
