One thing I love about these trailers is that they use the Switch graphics in the Switch advertisements. No false advertising like MK and other games. Good on Atlus and Nintendo.

Cutting Nahobinos long hair was atlus' solution to get the game to lock to 30fps

It'd be an ideal world if atlus games were actually worth buying on release instead of waiting for the inevitable expansion that still costs full price two years down the line.

The more trailers I watch, the more I become excited and want to preorder the game for myself. I think I'll keep SMT V Vengeance on Switch this time.

Atlus is cooking this year! One of the best remakes of all time with Persona 3 Reload, one of the best definitive editions with SMT V Vengeance, and what will probably be one of the best games this year with Metaphor later this year.

With any Sega game from around that time, if you waited 3 weeks you could get it 50% off. I did it with the original smt 5 and Persona 5 royal. Sonic frontiers was 50% off around then too.

Luckily for me, I've bought the special edition at full price and haven't played the game yet only to pick it up again last month... Then I saw the reveal for smt vengeance.. yeah I feel kinda betrayed, pretty torn on what to play now

The game looks phenomenal. And I sadly haven't gotten the chance to finish SMTV base; the game is awesome but it's already pretty lengthy + I still have a bunch of games on my plate to finish or catch up on. And busy with so many things not related to gaming. I might consider forgetting about the base game once this comes out if it's that much better.

I guess I'm a glass half full kind of guy, but this is a new 80 hr campaign with the original campaign packed in. Did all these people up in arms over re-releases throw a fit over SMT4A? Even if this was another re-release, SMTV went through a troubled dev cycle and was further compromised by covid. It's one of the games that could justifiably use a second chance.

For the players who buy the first release is feel like playing the demo for full frice and now this come out with all new content and to me its more like sequel rather than dlc or expansion

So is everything in this trailer part of the new story mode? I don't want to have to replay the whole regular story for the new stuff.

Complete version. Basically the main route stays the same with new demons and skills/qual of life features, and the old dlc. New route has a whole new campaign which apparently is extensive. I kinda hope they'll expand on some of the other routes in base though. LAW is well fleshed out, but NEUTRAL felt sorta abrupt and CHAOS is kinda dropped with a cool idea but without any real lead in. Regardless, SMT games rarely require you to play the previous game. SMT 1 and 2 are separated by hundreds of years. SMT 3 is in its own timeline. SMT 4 and 4 Apocalypse are also in their own timelines but 4A doesn't require you to have played 4 to understand it, it just has a lot of crossover and a retcon. SMT Strange Journey also is its own timeline and self contained.

I'll be very curious to see if there's any reason to play the original storyline when this is out lol. Narrative was literally vanilla SMT5's only weak point. Absolutely cannot wait for this.

Looks amazing being a late gen Switch title, Atlus will absolutely slay with the Switch 2! Persona 6 and hopefully a return of Etrian Odyssey or maybe a return to Radiant History next!

Funny enough, I'm pretty sure the SMT team is the same as the Etrian Odyssey one. At the very least they said a new EO game is in the works, but I'd also really love to get a remaster of 4 and 5.

I hered that you only get bouns and you cant keep your save date for this game you need to start over again at low levels with bouns bufs base on what ending you complet you get items.

Looks like it runs better than the original game! Not one framerate dropped spotted.

Oh man, the switch is going to be screaming for mercy if the first game's performance is to be considered. Definitely getting it on PC.

They most likely will optimize the game better this time on switch. But I going for the PC version as well because I want 60fps.

I’m wondering how well this version is going to hold up to the higher end consoles. Looks pretty good so far, in my opinion, but maybe they should have waited to release it on the Switch 2. Hopefully, an upgrade patch will improve it to those standards when that system is released.

@@samuraigundam0079 They did it for Persona 5 $59.99, then Persona Royal another $59.99, then Persona Royal PlayStation 5 another $59.99 in which all they did was enabled a locked 60fps mode which also costed $59.99, then the mocking "1 more edition" priced at $119.99 Adding all those up comes out to $300.00 honestly a massive waste of money Like I said just hold off on buying it for now since a full price re-release "definitive edition" will come sooner or later

SMT always had human party members (Megami Tensei 1 & 2, SMT 1, SMT 2, SMT If, SMT 4, SMT 4 Apocalypse, Strange Journey, Devil Summoner series, Devil Survivor series, Majin Tensei series, and Digital Devil Saga series). In older games you had usually 2-4 human members in 6 party. Only Raidou Kuzunoha, SMT III Nocturne, and SMT V dont have, and you play whole game solo + demons.

Loved SMTV but it's BS that we have to rebuy the game to play the added content, so i won't unless there's a massive sale on steam. But new players are in for a great rpg.

i wish they could let us recruit the hitoshura /demifiend in this version.

Atlus thought the changes to the gameplay and story in Vengeance were so massive that they needed to include the original untouched version in the new one. When you start up a save, you’ll be asked to play the Canon of Creation, which is the original story, or the Canon of Vengeance, which is the new one.

Though we’ve paid for the beta test and the dlc 😂, and now the full game release. I will buy it i love the game. 😊

I am going to get it no doubt, but Metaphor is on top of my list right now.

Like any Playstation ekslusive game from Sega (Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Shodown, Sakura Wars 2019, Fist of The North Star: Lost Paradise, Valkyria Chronicles on PS3, Valkyria Chronicles 2&3 on PSP). As a 3rd party publisher, you only limits your already niche audience.

I had always heard SMT had great story and this was my first entry. Feel like they dropped the ball in the first game so I’ll wait on community sentiment after it’s out

Still mad we aren't getting this as a dlc expansion to our copies of the first release and have to pay another $60+ dlc again.

⁠@Infernal_CrusaderYou’re right in the sense that the new additions are sprinkled throughout the game as a whole, and it’s not just a single new part that’s been added. But to say that you should pay for all the content again that you’ve already paid for once is just absurd. I think a lot of people are getting tired of this business practice that Atlus are going with. It would be better for all of us as consumers to just pay for what is new, and then allow us to start a new playthrough via the same copy that we already own. This trend of releasing games again, has begun to make people just want to wait a couple years for the rerelease instead of having to purchase the game twice

This game has an entirely different campaign with 80 hours of new content, reworks to the old campaign, and enough new features to make the original game look like a version alpha. Calling it a DLC is disingenuous when it offers more from the base game than most sequels

They're describing it as an alternate scenario that is similar to base v in the beginning but completely diverges by the half way point of the game. There will be a ton of new sidequests to flesh out the world and about 80% of the ost is redone. Basically it's a new version of SMT V with more content and an "expanded" story with more emphasis on human characters.

How close are you? Apparently you can carry over 3 demons from your compendium to this one and there's some other bonuses too... but if you're not that far, it's not like save data carries over. And if you plan on playing on a different console that carryover thing doesn't matter anyway.

I get it, but at the same time the amount of content here is effectively a new game + numerous system wide changes that would spice up the OG campaign’s gameplay as well. A more generous studio would make it DLC for sure, but unfortunately this is the one time I kinda get it.

@@AnimeXFever54 No rerelease means that every other console would get the same SMTV but now they have to purchase the DLC along with it or buy the version that comes preinstalled with the DLC for $70 and on top of that all of the other DLC is still separate content from the game so who knows if they would feel pressed to make those free in order to equalize it with the Switch version. Not to mention they'd find it much harder to implement the fundamental changes they're making to the gameplay systems.

It's because persona is a spin-off of SMT which is why the enemies are the same. So the monsters in persona originated from this franchise (but more accurate to say mythology)

Glad you asked. Persona is a spinoff of the Shin Megami Tensei Series, though it got so popular that more people know about Persona than the original. In SMT, the Shadows and Personas are called Demons, so people with more experience in the series tend to call them Demons. In 1994, Atlus released a game called Shin Megami Tensei If, which is a “what if” scenario for the first SMT game asking what would happen if a high school was taken into the demon world instead of demons breaking out into the human world, which is what happens in SMT1. In the canon ending, the protagonist and their chosen partner character seal the door to the demon world with the partner and her brother still in the demon world, preventing demons from ever going to the human world again. Demons do manage to get through, but they cannot maintain a physical form most of the time and often need a human to summon them as a part of themselves in order to manifest, creating Shadows and Personas.

Well, at least they added a lot, but having to essentially buy a whole new game instead of it just being a major $40 expansion is next level messed up. All the time I spent on the original game is basically for naught. I can't even carry over the full compendium.

And I dont understand how people can see an 80 hour second campaign with 40 new demons, unique skills for every demon in the game, 5 human party members, a full new daat map, new bosses and quests in every area, new story cutscenes that span whole gane with unique story bosses and its own endings and ask why it isnt dlc, what dlc did you last buy that was 80 hours
