@@halwilson9251that is true but I wonder why they didn’t take as much time as they needed to get it right the first time? Heck the game would not have have been seen as the literal worst Smt game in the series if it actually did everything right the first time, I guess now Smt 5 will not be known by its lackluster base version but by the expanded new story that essentially fixes alot of people’s major gripes with the original and flaws of the original Smt, just like nobody gave a crap about Pokémon DP once platinum came into existence and the vast majority of the positive reputation that the sinnoh region gained was because of Pokémon platinum and not DP I think we may see a similar situation where the vast majority of people could care less about the original Smt 5 because the entirety of Smt 5’s positive reputation will largely be based on this expanded story meaning that if they were to ever remake Smt 5 15-20 years into the future no one would care about a remake of Smt 5 unless it was a remake of Smt 5 vengeance not the original lackluster Smt 5 game.

Love a good teaser, but Atlus did do a rundown of features on their channel: - New campaign from chapter 2 on or you can opt to play the og path - 40+ new demons - Every demon now has a personal skill - You can chat with your demons in the overworld - Level cap increased to 150 - Various QOL changes including respecing and saving anywhere - If you have save data from SMTV, you can transfer 3 demons to Vengeance - Demi-fiend/Demon DLC's included but there's DLC for Dagda and Konohana Sakuya and Grinding - Multi-plat

@@DestroyerGamingChannelthis is not a dlc expansion or a direct sequel. it's a re release with new content like Persona 5 Royal was to the original Persona 5. you have to buy the game a second time, basically. at the beginning, you choose if you want to play SMT V with no changes, or a new route called 'Vengeance' which significantly changes the plot around halfway through the game, according to Atlus.

I was thinking about getting Shin Megami Tensei 5, But I voted with my wallet because I heard one of the voice actors who voiced Aogomi in this game did something horrible to someone who’s 14 at the time.

Dont get me wrong I F's with persona But SMT is the godfather of turn based rpg. SMT online is what first got me into the series.

I played SMT V so much when it first came out and then I had to put it aside for Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl and never got back round to it. I'll have to blitz through the game before this comes out now.

I love how the vid is captured on the actual system. I know what i’m getting into. ;)

The counterpoint is that if is just a DLC then it will be very hard to preserve for the future, and totally inaccessible the moment is pulled out of the eShop or the eShop itself eventually closes. Is a pain to have to pay again, but at least you can have the full game physically and it can be preserved easily.

@@Alex_G.7 Stop worrying about game preservation. Pirates have been preserving media for us since the dawn of the internet. There is ZERO justification for this rip-off practice, so don't defend it even under the pretext of gaming preservation. Especially considering later releases could have the DLC on-cart like other IPs do. Pokemon is just one example. Sword and Shield had the DLC expansion pass included in a physical cart. It's entirely doable.

@@Lucifronz The problem is that even DLC is kinda difficult to pirate, and thus, to preserve. Unfortunately, piracy without documenting is not enough for preservation. Many pirated stuff has still became lost media because it wasn't properly documented.

There is a plot. It's just... the skeleton and meat of one. A LOT of stuff had to be cut for V's initial release. It seems to me that they're putting the scraps left on the cutting room floor back in, along with any other ideas they wanted to but couldn't. In short- the game will be more complete this time.

So wait is this like a dlc expansion or an enhanced version? I haven't gotten around to V yet. I've only just recently played Nocturne. Should I bide my time for this?

It's an enhanced re-release. The plot starts the same as the original but diverges later on. The original version of the game is included as well. Once Vengeance releases, there will be no reason to purchase vanilla SMT V.

@@paracelsus8477 I think they mean the true ending but it was supposed to open ended considering we're not supposed to know if the MC's divine order to eliminate all demons from existence conceptually was an end all be all solution. This I feel is the best route as it's a reimagining of the main campaign as opposed to what we got with Apocalypse which is a sequel made mainly to expand the lore of Megami Tensei (it's in the title, "Apocalypse" being the Greek word for the revelation of world changing information).

Standalone. That's how it works for Atlus JRPGs. -You got Persona 3, Persona 3 FES, Persona 3 Portable, and Persona 3 Reload. -You got Persona 4 and Persona 4 Golden. -You got Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal. -You got SMT3: Nocturne and SMT: Nocturne Maniax. -You now got SMT5 and SMT5: Vengeance. -And so on. Atlus generally prefers re-releasing the entire game again instead of giving you the option to buy the new stuff as add-ons while having Day 1 DLC for extra stuff like anti-grinding DLC, cosmetics, new Personas, music tracks, and so on. It works for them as they keep on doing it, and Sega's TOTALLY on board with it as they also encourage Day 1 DLC and Pre-Order DLC (like how Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, a non-Atlus JRPG, had New Game+ as paid DLC).

To be fair the newly added content is bassically 80 hours worth of new content and its bassically an entirely different story/story path, I’d say it’s worth spending 60 on the game simply because what they are adding isn’t dlc but an entirely new story/story path with entirely new events playing out, people often make the mistake that when they see the same game being sold twice to assume that it’s the same game and it’s not worth picking up when in reality, it’s a complete upgrade/enhancement with an entirely new story and what seems to be more scenes to flesh out the characters thus making them more likeable. People often make the mistake to skip out on a game they already bought under the false assumption that it’s simply the same exact game being sold twice but repackaged when in reality this doesn’t seem to be the case for this Smt 5 vengeance. Infact I would argue that Smt 5 vengeance as an enhanced release seems to have drastically more newly added content then what persona games usually offer when making enhanced releases like Royal or golden. In other words Smt 5 vengeance is an entirely new game with an almost entirely new story with the same cast of characters but seemingly more fleshed out and it’s not worth skipping out on

И как бы не у всех есть доступ к пиратству, за это могут и по заднице дать в некоторых странах, да и на ПК они стали выпускать свои игры совсем недавно, а на этой платформе играют чаще в СНГ, а не в тех странах, где их игры популярны. Да и P5R вроде даже не взломали до сих пор.

Definitely wait. Typically there's some divisive content in the new release of an Atlus game, but you can choose to play the original campaign with all the new features of Vengeance this time, so it seems to make the original obsolete. Of course, the quality of the new campaign might far exceed that of the original, but that'll be unknown until the game releases.

@@christopherjohnparedes7026 I think the closest point of comparison would be Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker, only that the new campaign, at least initially, adheres to the original. It's said that around the halfway point it becomes a very different game, which is why both campaigns are playable, unlike, say, Persona 5 Royal, where it primarily adds more content in addition to the existing story rather than being exceedingly different.

I can't wait for this one!!

@@Monafuks The thing that I like the most in games like SMT IV is this that I can destroy enemies 10 levels higher than mine and be destroyed by enemies 10 levels below mine. SMT V applies level scaling to the player, scaling you down if you are underleveled, or up if you're overleveled so you need to be on specific level if you don't want to be too weak or too strong.

i know itd be out of smt type story fashion but i really hope most if not all of the "friends" will be saveable in this new route

Deluxe version, Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker style. New game that includes the original story plus another one that's the same length.

If it were just DLC, it would say that, but it doesn't, so it's clearly not, it's basically like Persona 5 Royal

When I saw this reveal during the direct I lost my mind in excitement, all at work 😂. I've been waiting for the sequel since completing vanilla SMT V. I'll be grabbing it frame one, literally one of my favorite games of all time.

How does this work for people that already own Shin Megami Tensi V? Is this a sequel or extra content? If it’s extra content, can we just buy the new cartridge & use our old save for this?

It's a definitive version that lets you play the original route, and also the new route that changes the game's story and lasts 80 hours

It's a new game, but you'll be able to port over- Three demons from your V vanilla save data. So I recommend you fuse a few god-busters in preparation.

By the time the game releases we should know more about the Switch 2. I have a feeling we are seeing footage of this run on Switch 2. I’m guessing it will be 30 FPS on Switch, and 60 on Switch 2. I think this is the same reason we have not seen P3 Reload, since that might only work on Switch 2, not Switch 1.

i cant imagine nintendo is gonna drop a new console so soon after dropping 2 of the biggest blockbuster games of the decade on their home console thats already 7 years old. they have no incentive to do so when the install base is already so large and continuing to grow. theyd be making the same mistake as they did with the wii u, which they have spent years distancing themselves from after all the hurt it caused post-wii

There has not been a single hint I've seen anywhere from any official source of a Switch 2. There's nothing I've heard aside from "but wouldn't it be nice"? The Oled model is the closest I think we're going to get for a while. The Switch obviously won't last forever, but I've been hearing "Switch 2 news is dropping soon!" for years now to no result.

A Switch successor is definitely happening either this year or next. Most Nintendo consoles have released about 5 years apart. The Wii and Wii U had the second largest gap of 6 years, but the Switch wins with it going in 7 this March! And there are some hints from developers that the Switch successor is happening soon, although soon does not necessarily mean this year. As for performance for this game and hints of cross compatibility, there is not hint of that anywhere, that’s just wishful thinking on my end. I’m wishing there is backwards compatibility, and maybe even some improvements for prior Switch games.
