Sheep Farming At Ewetopia Farms: How To Make Your Own Lamb Creep Feed

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

At Ewetopia Farms, we grow our own grains to feed our sheep. The main crop we grow is hay which is the basis of the sheeps' diet. We also grow soybeans, corn and barley which are combined together to make our lamb creep feed. Today we will explain how we make our feed and show how we do it on our sheep farm.

    I wish I had seen this video before I asked about seeing more of what Arnie does. I do enjoy watching feeding. I love watching you spend time “playing” with the sheep. That’s how you make tame sheep, right? So it’s not “playing,” it’s investing in your flock. I just love how you love on them. Thanks so much for sharing!

    Yes, I do believe that all our silly interactions with the sheep help to create better sheep. So, it may look like we are crazy to some, but you get back what you put into things - including sheep. Thank you for your comments as usual!

    Arnie was the STAR ⭐️!!!!! Tell him he did a great job considering that he was working and trying to explain things at the same time!!! Kudos to Katie for the mice catching 😂. It’s getting cold here in Middle Georgia (USA) so this mice and all kinds of critters are wanting to find warmer places to be! Our water pump house, garage and house being the main places. I can’t imagine having all that feed! The kitties need to earn there keep 🤣. Thank you for another wonderful video! 😊🐑💙

    Thanks Tammy, I will pass that on to Arnie! Yes, with the cold coming in fast here now, all the rodents are coming in from the fields for a warm place to overwinter. Not to mention all the free feed we have for them just lying around here. Rodents are a problem. Luckily we also have owls and hawks that hang around the farm in the winter too.

    ARNIE rocks!! have you guys tried cutting back on the cat food a little just enough to give the cats/mouseres/ratters ? some times that works thank you for the tips and info

    Thanks! You are right,. You just feed enough so that the cats are healthy and strong enough to go after the mice/rats. With winter coming in now, it is always a bad time for rodents. Luckily owls and hawks start hanging around the barns now too.

    Thanks for your comments but I think we'll stick with the natural cat, dog, owl solution to rodents. We don't like violent measures. Actually we have hardly any rats here considering how large our barns are. It Just looked like a problem in the video because a couple of them went in the grain tank. Thanks for trying to help though!🙂

    How much does the lamb need a pound of grain per day ?

  • @EwetopiaFarms

    @EwetopiaFarms

    Жыл бұрын

    It depends on the breed and age of the lamb. We are feeding lambs free choice now so it is hard to say exactly how much each lamb is eating. Adults or older lambs would get at least a pound a day.

    It is whole soybeans that go through a roaster so they taste like peanut butter. They won't eat them raw

    If you want to get rid of rats... get a terrier dog. Cats will kill vermin IF they feel like it. Dogs do it for the sport and are a lot more reliable.

    That's why we feed the cats, so they will not only eat them but torment them. Terriers are definitely rats dogs! But don't need any more dogs lol! The border collies actually do a good job too
