Feeding Lambs Creep. 18% g Protein Feed Using Grinder Mixer Reduces Costs to Feed Lambs (1st Group)
#sheep #lamb #sheepfarming
In this video, we are sharing our process of chopping and mixing creep feed to feed the lambs as of a week of age. We have worked closely with our nutritionalist and she provided us with the ration needed to make an 18% Feed. Reason we made this switch was to reduce the cost of feeding lambs and increase profit margins.
We would appreciate your thoughts and comments. Thank you for watching this video.

What type of corn do you use?
The lambs clearly love it ❤

They do! So glad we made this change to our setup. We will continue to track our feed costs and anticipate a higher return especially since grain costs continue to fluctuate this year. 🙏
Where is the recipe ?
do the lambs getting any green feed as well or just the feed and hay?

When you ask about green feed, do you mean, are they out on pasture?

At this time, no. They are all inside year round. Had some lambs on pasture last summer but not this year. Lost some due to parasites and it took enough effort to encourage them to leave the barn. We have minimal pasture available at this time for the sheep and lots of space inside coveralls so it just works out. For us, it’s working by having them inside year round. Hay and grains with minerals and nutrients. Hope this helps

@@ambryacres yes thats helpful, thank you. Just casting around to see what others are doing and learning before i make my own mistakes. It will soon be spring here but pasture is tight at the moment, so trying to find other ways to raise the lambs i have in the best possible condition. Appreciate your reply. Thank you.
