We decided that the feed bunk inside the coverall in barn 2 was no longer adequate. We were dealing with strength issues on a weekly basis therefore decided to remove it and build from start to finish. We built a wooden feed bunk that allows us to unroll a round dry hay bale to feed the sheep flock. OMAFRA provides a Fact Sheet to guide farmers on the specs required to build a suitable feed bunk allowing for 16" - 20" head space per ewe.
We were a total of 4 men working on this project and it took 7 hours to complete.
This feed bunk is made using 2 x 4's, 2 x 6's and plywood.
