ABOUT ME
I’m 32 years old and I’m a sheep farmer from Ayrshire in South West Scotland, which is why I have such a strong accent! I was born and raised on a sheep farm watching my dad who was the shepherd.
At 18 I went away from farming to work in the city (something I still do) and at 23 (2013) I decided I wanted to do something for some extra money so I went on a sheep shearing course. The hardest thing I’ll ever do was learning to shear sheep. [shudders thinking about it]
I shore whilst on my holidays from work for 2 years and then in 2015 my dad died so I decided to get my own sheep so I could continue working with sheep as it was something I loved doing. From there it escalated quickly from my first 4 sheep in my mum’s garden to now running around 850 breeding ewes.
I shore over 19,000 sheep this season in the UK and have my own shearing run which lets you see many different farms in the summer months.
A few years ago I bought myself a sheep pregnancy scanner and have been building up my run since then.
I watched a few farm vlogs on KZread and decided I could have a go and now here we are!
Thanks for watching my videos and please subscribe if you want to see more in future.

Hi Cam. Greetings from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Here in the foothills of our neighbors the Rocky Mountains the prairies only have smaller trees next to water, or the the leeward side of the giant hills because of the winds! When Calgary became a town then city, all of the city tree canopy had to be planted. My mother in law got to pick the trees in her garden round the home because they arrived in 1960s. There are 100 year old trees in one of the historic fancy neighborhoods, but very few. I am a U.S. citizen who grew up in Michigan, had relatives in Ohio where we have 100-550 year old trees. It’s something my Calgary born husband had never seen. I was raised on a 100 yr old building turned into a home, but the oldest of buildings are forts are in or around Detroit, woth St. Anne’s (French saint) having been a community congregation for over 300 years.

There's a reason why most of history's greatest inventors have farming in their background: Necessity is truly the Mother of Invention. So many skill sets are needed to get the best from land, beast and people.

@@TheSheepGame yes Newfoundland is very much like Ireland according to my sister and hubby who have visited Scotland and Ireland. Many people here are descendants of those who came during the Irish Famine, the accent is thick. For about 10 years I lived a block away from a sheep farm on the outskirts of St John’s, Newfoundland. I’d walk my sister’s dog Abby, she was a very sweet good natured Golden Retriever RIP always on leash of course. And she would get all excited about the sheep and the alpaca. She was the sweetest, so gentle with her stuffies many of which were lambs and or alpacas.

Thanks again, Cammy,Zeus & Sean for part 2. We'll await part 3 ( lambing, dipping, shearing, etc..). As suggested before, adding wheels to the moving parts would make it easier. Also replacing the wooden covers of the dipping structure with enforced metal/ Iron " doors " with hinges to be opened easily and supported on the side partitions will make it easier to open/ close and support passing heavy equipment on it. Please keep up the good work and good luck 👍

Sean & dad (I assume) did a great job on thinking outside the box to putting a dream into action of a great facility. It does look tight though compared to the beautiful fields they were wandering. Seems sheep like to wander off for privacy to lamb in the field so I hope they adjust. We will all wait with bated breath to see how they settle in and if any lambs get 'stolen' by overly zealous/confused future moms. Will there be someone on watch 24/7 as they start lambing? Best wishes for great success Zeus & Sean! By the way, what did an average size dad like Zeus feed a son to produce such a large offspring?

On the gap issue, consider the closed cell pipe insulation. Tough stuff, especially wrapped with gorilla tape. Question...where is the water in the pens, and how does he plan to keep the feed shoved up against the pens?

U will see water in previous video 👍. Re silage it’s same attachment they use to push up cattle silage. 👍

If steel is out of price range, what about a removable wood brace set to bottom of concrete under the boards? You would lift out with cover when getting ready to dip but rest of time shortens span boards support across.

How far are they off lambing? I ask because I would be worried, from what I can see in the video, about the risk of initial miss - mothering on new born lambs especially on multiple births until they get removed to small straw bedded pens. Dan
