My RED SHEEP OBSESSION just got real. ...new RED rams, rearranging the barn & hay prep 2024 begins!
A busy week post lambing, including adding some selected red (Tunis) rams to the sheep flock, rearranging some pens to give my lambs more room, and shipping our latest load of market lambs to the salesbarn.
Mark's been busy in the fields (when weather permits) to get his winter wheat fertilized... and we began prepping for some new alfalfa seeding that will eventually be sheep feed!

The best way to start my day is seeing a new video uploaded from Sandi. Seriously, I really look forward to seeing what’s up on the farm and updates on the babies. Thanks Sandi! Also, you may or may not remember back in October I posted that I was in the hospital from a massive hemorrhage. My nurses became interested in what I was streaming and I know you gained a few new subs. I ran into one of the nurses earlier this week and she let me know she’s addicted to your channel now!! Bonus!!! ❤❤❤❤

To get an accurate sense of what it would take without mechanical equipment (or limited mechanics) just visit an Amish farm. There are some groups who only use mules or draft horses to work their fields. And they have some huge farms. It’s pretty amazing what they do.
I love the way that baby was looking up at you and then you look down and she didn't take her eyes off of you. That needs to be a T-shirt!

It amazes me how much farmers need to know to keep equipment maintained, animals healthy, crops growing. In addition, you're so strong physically and mentally. Thank you for what you do to help feed the nation.
I saw an Iowa farmer using an app to locate stones in the field. A drone takes in the data. He also showed a machine he is developing that will actually pick them up. Eventually he wants it to work autonomously in connection with the location technology. I remember my mom talking about walking the fields to pick up stones, back in the 20s and 30s. It never ends.

I was thinking that as Sandi was taping up the leg of that lamb and it so peacefully looked up at her. It was a beautiful picture.
I personally really appreciate your plain-language translation of Mark's technical explanations. :)
I’ve been following you for a few years now and have always loved watching farm life. When I was younger there were a lot of farms in Pennsylvania but they’ve slowly disappeared over the years. Well last week we moved into our dream house on a lake in New Jersey and we’re surrounded by farms. We are in heaven. Ever drive we take we go past a farm. I’m now able to buy fresh produce from roadside farm stands, fresh eggs, honey etc. Now with every drive I think of my favorite sheep farmer and how much we appreciate all farmers.

We live in a farming community, but have never lived any place like this before. Since it was right before the official lockdown, and I’m 2400 miles from Sandi, I called a local sheep farmer and asked if I could have a farm tour. I made a new friend, and found a great supplier for lamb and beef. She also raises a bunch of vegetables that she sells in local roadside stands.

Sandy, I am in love with the baby with red or brown with the puff of perfect white hair on its head. I am absolutely obsessed with that baby.
Farmers and ranchers are some of the hardest working people in the world. Doesn't matter what country their in. And it's amazing how much gets produced to feed the world. Thanks for sharing all the sheep and farming. You're awesome with all you know and do.
Appreciate mark explaining the wheat and feed, happy to see the planting part of the farming as well Happy to see the red rams on board
A new Sandi video..always a pleasure..I admire your work. You're doing everything with so much passion. And even during the hardest of times like lambing season you always keep your smile. Thank you for treating all of your animals with the utmost respect and showering them with love. You're the biggest cheerleader during birth "come on momma you can do it". ❤
Omg farmers deserve a gold medal for everything you do! I’m tired just working in my garden boxes.

The best Friday treat! A new video from Sandi! Love those little red babies. I love those little all black ones that came at the end of lambing too. They’re all little cuties though. ❤️🐑❤️
Im usually just lurking, watching the lambs, lambing and all things sheep. You are my go-to when i need some peace in my life. I also, however, love going out in the fields with you and Mark, listening to him talk about all of the ins and outs of being a grain farmer, not just the wife of the best shepherd around. I'm also always marveling at the sheer volume of heavy work you do, lifting and carrying panels around like they were just unwieldly sheets of posterboard! I'm almost 78, but even though I was always active as a gardener, a single mom with a full-time job and two kids who then raised a grandchild, I could not have come close to doing half of what you do even when I was 30 years younger! You are amazing. You and Mark bring joy into my life...bless you both
The way that lamb was looking up at you when you were wrapping its leg!!! And Lucy working on the tan on her belly. I love to watch you with your furry family and your two-legged family.

4:59 TURTLE ALERT! 🐢 Edit: Enjoyed the wheat chat with Mark!
Watching you move those sheep from one area to another, and the sheep avoiding the move, so very much made me think of the expression: "Just as hard as herding cats". Funny!

I love the days you post videos My family is originally from Missouri. Grandpa raised beef cattle and my Uncle raised sheep, cattle and also sheared. He was also an auctioneer, which is another story! All through my life I spent vacations at their farms and spent my last high school years there. I live in upstate New York now, in a rural area, mostly dairy and love it here. We also share your weather (30 minutes from Canada), so I can commiserate with you on the storms! I agree with what you said about the weather. I watch the cameras up at Katmai National Park. Last year there was still snow and ice on/around the Naknek River. We watch the Beluga Whales, while waiting for the cameras to go on at Katmai Brooks Fall. So we can watch the coastal Brown Bear fish for salmon. There have been reports that there are bears already there.
I really enjoy hearing all the processes that actually go into making everything flourish, from the sheep to the wheat. I especially enjoy seeing Sandi and Mark working side by side. It reminds me constantly of what we should all be capable of even in different lives.
