I just spent a good 40 min crying at your reaction. This song broke me. I am so sorry for your loss and I thank you for your vulnabilty. Your mom is proud of you I'm so sure. I had to leave a job working as a nursing assistant at a nursing home 3 months ago bc I couldn't take the mental health toll anymore. It literally fu*king killed me to go. Bc I care so much for them. But I can only handle ao much death in a year while trying to survive myself amd raise 2 young kids. Hardest decision I ever made. I held over 20 hands in the last 4 months of people's loved ones I loved as my own family, as they took their last breath so they didn't die alone. And I nearly took my own life from the pain. My son is 12 and my daughter is 2. I had to walk away to get help to stay here for them. And I still can't let the guilt go that I'm not there holding a hand as they pass to heaven. People I took care of for years and truly loved. I feel I will be recovering for the rest of my life from this past year. I will never be the same. This song broke me. Please reach out to family working in Healthcare. Especially elderly homes where death rates are high. Before 2020 I never saw someone die. I left my job a few months ago now to seek critical mental health help after watching my 28th resident die, in my arms or holding my hand on my shift, so they weren't alone. I will never fully recover. Many won't either. Fu*k you 2020. And for the love of Humans be kind and and hug a Healthcare worker. Many of us are now barely hanging on after what we had to do, but willingly and happily did bc we loved your family member or loved one as if they were our own. To the 28 patients I held last, I will try to live every day for each of you. And I will never forget you, the words you said, and the messages I will get to your family. This song is beautiful but it also breaks me.

A lot of people have lost someone just this year, but it applies to anyone who has ever suffered the loss of a loved one. Now go re-watch this with the camera off and have yourself a good cry. You'll feel much better afterwards.

Great song, well written, amazing performance! Such a mature and emotional treatment of a difficult and personal subject. So young and so mature most people especially at 14 years old are not able to verbalize their emotion in such a way. BTW you should listen to her cover of "I'd rather be blind" if you're in for beautiful surprise.

I lost my MUM in April, so this song has a very special place in my heart, I have been sobbing to this song as it brings her to light again, at least in my heart. On a lighter note, I couldn't help but chuckle when you said that the sign with MUM would come out the wrong way. I know exactly what you mean, if you look at that sign reading it from the reflection in a mirror, it will read from the end to the start of the letters so SO would become OS. However, looking at a sign shown by you will come out the right way as far as I can tell?! And then it basically would still do it even from looking into a mirror, because MUM is still MUM reading it backwards !! So I had to laugh, sorry for the rambling, and take care.

In the 18 times I’ve heard this song I have never not teared up. Couple times cry. I can’t explain but a lot of it is for her. Knowing the connection, she had with her grandpa. I remember from 40 years ago mine, and wish to this day I could just touch his hand. I imagine her feeling the same only more raw, and the tears just fall.

Been writing since I was 10 (53 years ago - not as a profession, but because I love it), and in that time only 2 analogies I've ever seen have managed to make my greatest of all time list. The first was most likely written by Bernie Taupin, but sung by Elton John in his song "Nikita", and went, "with eyes 'like ice on fire' ". The second was both written and sang by Angelina Jordan (for this song) and goes, "like an empty bubble to be thrown". How perfect are both of those? I hope to hear much more from Ms. Jordan, but if I should pass on tomorrow, she should know Bernie Taupin made me happy once, and she did it once again before I died! Thanks Ms. Jordan (and you and Elton also Bernie).

Hi Liam. I am with you brother. I lost my mom this year and this song hit me hard as well. But I also was comforted by the message that Angelina conveyed in the song over and over, “you are never alone.” The song is at once extremely sad but also totally uplifting. Strange that it would take a 14 year old Norwegian girl to help me through the loss of my mother but there we are.

Liam, Sorry for your loss. Angelina lost her grandpa a couple years ago. I lost my mother about a month ago now. This song is a balm to me, capturing the connection and appreciation I have for my mom even though she is a million miles away. It is beyond belief that a 14 year old can express such sensitivity that brings expression to my feelings, grief and relief from sorrow. I hope you find solace in this song, as I have.

But if someone were going to access those feelings and emotions Angelina would be the one to do it.
