She Lived Alone on the Side of a Mountain for 8 Years, Surrounded by Wildlife and Snow in Wyoming

Some glimpses and favorite memories of my life in the little clearing on the side of a mountain over many years. All video and photos were shot by Ariel except for a few shots from backpacking trips for which she thanks her good friend Beth, and several of the photos of Ariel & her husband thanks to the lovely work of @jessicaburdgephotography.

Join Fy Nyth on social media - mewe.com/i/fynyth ! If you are new to my channel and Fy Nyth (Welsh for "My Nest") in general, welcome! I'm Ariel. Along with my husband Clay, our dogs, cats, bees, and some poultry, we live in a tiny house on wheels in the mountains of western Wyoming and are working on setting into our own new little homestead. I've been living this lifestyle since 2014 and my wonderful partner has joined me more recently. What will you find if you follow the channel and watch the videos?
Real life here. I try to show the good and the bad. The ups and the downs. What works, and what doesn't. The parts I love (most of it!), and the things that suck. Not just the showroom version of a tiny house, but everyday life in a tiny house. Not just the romantic idea of "homesteading" or off grid life, but the everyday details of this lifestyle. We split wood for heat, fill the water tank from a gravity fed spring, and attempt to grow as much of our own food as possible between the weather and wildlife here. I hope to help others learn from mistakes and make life just a little easier for anyone else interested in pursuing a similar lifestyle.
We live in a somewhat harsh and cold climate, but enjoy the stunning scenery and wildlife that we are surrounded by on a daily basis. You'll also see videos of the nature and wildlife around my home. If you are interested in my photography or purchasing a photo, I'd love if you follow that over at mewe.com/join/arielcelestepho... or ArielCelestePhotography.zenfolio.com!

Wow! I have been amazed by how many folks have found and watched this little re-cap of the lovely years I was able to spend living in the little clearing on the side of the mountain. For everyone asking about there being no dialogue, this was just the highlights and favorite moments I was able to capture on video over many years. There are well over 800 other videos on the channel with new ones as often as I have time. With lots of dialogue covering gardening, cooking, wildlife, off grid living and tools, home remedies, firewood, food preserving, building projects, cold climate related lessons, chickens, ducks, honey bees, tiny house life in general, foraging, regenerating an abandoned neglected piece of land, Q & A sessions, and much more. I've tried to sort everything by topical playlists, key words, and easy to find titles and description words without click bait so you can find whatever you are looking for as easily as possible. Thank you so much for joining us here!

Your experience of living in the wilderness would inspire many people to explore and learn opportunities of how they can live like you did and how you got the land it was placed on did you homestead vacant land squat there for 6months and then file a homestead because I could not amagine anyone ever wanted to leave that property and move somewhere else I would think you and your husband could start your own business of tiny houses and communities 🙏☮️😇👼😇✝️💭🗽😃🌎💰👍👏

It’s not easy to be alone but to live a lone for 8 years and in the mountains with wild animals is even more difficult. And this young lady doing it, is something to really admire. God has never left her sight not even for a minute. I could just imagine how super calm and soft spoken she must be. And all the wonderful things she seen and learned throughout her years there. 👍😊

Debbie, I also was raised as a "proper young lady " when I rebelled and started out on my own, I read every book I could, and actually marched into the woods with a chain saw and the book. Made my first cut, the tree shifted and the saw was held fast .STUCK!! Took me the rest of the day to release it. Ui had a parade following me, the mule, the goat, the dog and the cat.⁰⁰. Just start. Learn some auto mechanics, how to develop water systems, ,alternative light sources, gardening , building. Techniques, sanitation, food and preserving. There's a world of knowledge out there. If you want to weld, or throw pottery. DO IT!!Best wishes for you and all peaceable people out there😊😊😊

The owls watch over you and all the critters are there for you! You are together and you have time to appreciate every day! No mate yet what the weather! You work to pro vide food for your existence! What a joy the seasons are! Having a dog is such a companion in life! I am 81 and love my solo life! Bean sprouts, play cello, paint, take my little dog to the beach, have two saints as neighbors! I live in Maine , but lived and camped out West! Loved painting out there for 20 years! Now, I am home in Maine and right now loving the summer! Soon the Fall will come! I am going camping in Sept to celebrate the Fall! I do my wood fir the fireplace and grow a little food, too! I paint every day! Play the cello! I love my life! Quiet! Peaceful! Raised three sons and we FaceTime and laugh together! But they know that I need piece and quiet at this stage of my life and that is a nice tribute that they are giving me! Your parents must have had a heart attack seeing you out in the wild by yourself like that. Even though I’ve been along for the whole journey, I’m still in awe. Burley was born to be there, custome made it seems like and you and Clay are so meant to be together (Tanna and all the other critters too). You are amazing. When I was in my mid 20’s like 42 years ago, I bought a little cabin in the Pere Marquette Woods, in Upper/Lower Michigan. I had 3 children, 7, 3, 6 months, I fished, drove 20 miles to the nearest laundromat (till I found an antique Sears wringer washer) cut my own wood from dead trees in the forest, hauled it home on a toboggan and snowmobile, went to an auction, bought a goat, milked her for the kiddos. You gave me soooo many good memories of how happy I was. I now live in Florida, on 1/3 acre of Oaks,Pines and my little garden space, yes, you can grow veggies in sand. Thank you Fy for the wonderful memories you gave me. ❤️

Ladies, the point was, she lived by herself for 8 years and accomplished everything on her own without a partner. Yes, she went into town. Yes, she had a job at a nearby ranch. That's not the point. The point was she didn't have a man around to do everything for her. She relied on herself to accomplish her own goals.

This was an amazing video to watch....the wildlife was so beautiful...all the different species...and your puppy was just a love and so fun to see him play...I dearly loved that dog by the time the video ended...and the owl always observing the activity from above was fun for me.....and I too, was so sad to see that you had to leave, only to be gratified that you found love and went back to nature again.... with your husband and animals...congratulations!....I especially appreciated that there was no dialogue....this made the scenery and wildlife more predominant...good luck with your new adventures...I wish I could have done something like this when I was young.....

This is the 1st time I've come across your channel. First and foremost I would like to say this video was just breathtaking for me. The way you live is t he way I've always wanted to but never could. Second , you are such a strong ,brave, intelligent woman. That impresses me so much. I've always admired strong women of all sorts that can do it all by themselves, because they want to or because they have to. You are such a knowledgeable young woman with a beautiful life that you accomplished by yourself. Brava! Kudos! I have to say when the end of the video approached and I saw that your home was being moved my heart dropped a little, but the end turned out to be wonderful, because you met a man with your same interests and now you get to live your wonderful lives together. That makes me so happy for you. Whether you chose to do it on your own forever or find someone to do it with, either way was your choice and so it would be a good one. I'm so happy for you. You are the type of woman that could prove to so many young women out there, that we are strong and can accomplish anything we want. I'm late to your channel but have subscribed. And I can't wait for more . Until then ill watch the videos I have not seen yet. I have just turned 50, I am divorced and my children are grown. I've been watching many videos similar to yours and had recently told my family that I want to retire, off grid on my own piece of land, and after watching your channel specifically, I know I'm making the right choice. Thank you

The only thing constant is change. It was wonderful seeing so much of the old property. I will always cherish the memories of the few days my wife and I spent at you place. The little foot trail that led from behind your tiny house down to the creek was right out of a fairy tale. I pray that you and Clay have a wonderful life on the new property and someday it has as much vegetation and holds years of new memories.
