Shaun's Virtual Pinball Cabinet Build
A video demonstrating the features and functionality of my recent virtual pinball cabinet build. Later in the video I cover some of the challenges associated with the construction and explain how you too can build one of these magnificent machines.

I am knocked out by how awesome that thing is, and by your honest and entertaining account of what you went through to create it.
FANTASTIC. I love it that you build it yourself. Thanks for the video
Great video and build!! I was thinking of building one of theses after my arcade cabinet build but haven't found any recent videos on youtube. Thanks for all the tips and info. you did a great job.
Awesome, I watched this a couple years back and it inspired me to build mine. Put out another vid with all the updates and upgrades you've done to it over the past few years! Good to meet you in real life today!
I have so many questions about the build, menu system/games but I'll just leave it at- your virtual pinball machine is amazing! Thanks for the inspiration.

Yeah for real. I looked at some virtual pinball tables and they cost a fortune. I found these ones that were $5000 and the framerate is terrible it's not fast like his, and none of the ones I saw (not even the $9000 ones) had the thing with the Xbox Kinect that does the 3D lookaround thing.. that's pretty awesome. I wonder if anyone sells drives for this. I was all up for it until I learned he had to take videos of all three screens for every pinball table. That's where I checked out I'm like nah. I will buy one pre-made lol.. or maybe I can just build it but then buy the drive.
Your video inspired me to build my own machine. I was clueless back then but now I have learned everything.
That was a great and honest video! Great job
Like most people. Would love a parts list. Especially for the electronics. And if you cant tell by all the other comments. Great job. Hope to do mine half as good.
Very impressive how you came up with ideas to fix the problems that showed up during construction. :)
Very impressive! My dad loves the design!
Wow! That kinect bit blew me away! That is amazing!
THAT IS SO COOL.. WOWW! what a proyect. Congratulations neat job!
Great build. Awesome call with the Infrared transmitter!
Fantastic job! What an amazing piece of work.
great work Shaun. First time hearing about the Kinect implementation! It's time for me to start my project!
Your table is just amazing !!!! I love a lot and one day may be I will build same or smaller than yours. BIG thx to you for your video!
Wow!!! You just inspired me before Christmas :)
What a unique idea with the head tracking, so cool!
Great job man! Love the dot matrix screen. It's like the cherry on top!
Thank you for this video; I have watched it several times.. very good stuff!
This has to be one of the coolest, most ingenious things I've ever seen. It's literally like having 100+ pinball tables all in one!

Hi Shaun, amazing work buddy. It really looks like a lot of fun, Congrats!
LOVE your Tyler Stout Akira print!!!
Love it ! building one myself soon... Great job!
it's the best pinball project, i've ever seen. Good work.
NOW THIS is a virtual pinball machine! Wicked sir 🔥💯
That's not a telephone on Twilight. It's an oldschool slot machine from an episode. This is amazing. Could play Adam's Family all day long.
What a great job, I think it looks awesome.
That’s amazing. I won’t one ☝️ love pinballs. You did a great job.
Love your style...we share the same interests. Good job!
Amazing. I want one. Great job. I couldn't build that.
I used to play all the PinMame games years ago. The new stuff with the Kinect is blowing me away! I must have that!
Great video! Nice Akira poster btw. I went and saw that when it originally came out in NYC.
This is AWESOME!! I want to attempt this
Excellent video! Please do one on your arcade cabinet, it looks great as well.
Amazing work!
This is awesome, great job. Them stouts tho...🤩
Very nice! I want one of those!
Nice job and a great video too.
Best looking one I've seen, nice👍
I really want to make this. Great video
Great job.
I would love one of these so awsome
very nice work shaun!
That's really cool. I know this would probably take some coding and stuff but to place a see through LCD screen above a back ground layer and use the same effect with both panes.
this is so cool dude! super inspiring
Great job wish you had video of the build
Love that Stout poster in the background.
I like those MAME pinball machines. Very nice
O some mate what a invention! Be proud of your self be very proud!

Good luck buddy I am just started the software portion myself and it's a real head scratcher but with enough time and mental energy we can both get cool looking cabs that play well.
I would love a parts list, or at least your computer parts list, specifically graphics card etc. Your video is awesome and your game room is super classy. NICE JOB!! Thanks for sharing.

EquipmentReviewer hi. You'll need i5 or i7 pc. Gtx660 or greater video card. 3 video outputs needed, 3gig on video... find old pinball cab as body. 28 or 32 inch backglass monitor.. 40 or like 46,47 inch monitor for main table depending on cab width.. 14 or 15 inch lcd laptop screen as dmd, just buy driver board on ebay.. virtuapin for vpin parts or kits (plunger kit, speakers, buttons, cab parts etc).. ebay or pinball life for parts too.. software and stuff, (furture pinball, pinball X, vpforums) follow a few of the guys on KZread far as software install and setup.. solenoids and led lights for the tactile feel If you want original pinball table personality.. may need ledwiz board and or sainsmart relay board for outputs to solenoids and led lights.. I recommend you find an old pinball cabinet and then fit your displays to that and build from there

$400 is good for the pc...i'd say windows and the graphics card would be $200 alone.

I can’t help but believe he didn’t really build it. It’s cool af regardless, but I just can’t shake the feeling that I don’t think he really made all of that.

@@WWRNC obviously he has money but his explanations shout goober
12:46 Confidently talks about the one graphics card doing a really good job of running all three monitors....top box monitor promptly goes wonky. LOL! So funny! REALLY like your build. I'm going to have to try this myself, even though I'm a traditional pinball guy. Never been too fond of the simulated pinball games.
Great video and what a job you did! I was thinking about making one myself that's how I found your video... I think the computer end would be the hardest to get everything running. Monitors, programs, bottons etc... I did build my own cocktail table so I have some idea..
When you panned over quickly to the arcade cabinet my jaw dropped further...
I like your Drafthouse posters.
Nice Work!
Shaun, have you done a parts list? I would love to build one myself. I am sure a complete parts list would be worth some $$ compensation. Thanks
This is genius! Pure genius!
Love tour Tyler Stout posters!
Amazing!
Hey, Thanks for this great video! I would really appreciate full specs of parts that would be awesome.
Very nice!
Nice job!
shaun, great work man! looks great! i hoping to build somthing like that to!! can you share some inside looks??? how did you put pinball fx in a mode like that??
This is great and the attention to detail is amazing. By chance do you have a file with all the software tweaks you made? Ie menu captures of the gameplay?
Amazing.
4:43 It's the Slot Machine from the episode "The Fever".
Dude, this is amazing, congratulations. It's also amazing that you still have a wife after all that process! I was wondering if there's any chance you can share with us peasants the videos you made for the menu.

my wife doesn't know how much this is going to cost...i'll low ball her if she asks. the multi arcade cabinet she was okay with once she what it could do and the kids like it.
Very nice.
Very awesome...
SHAUN, THIS IS A PRETTY SWEET PROJECT THAT YOU DID. YOU DID A VERY GOOD JOB ON THIS VIRTUAL PINBALL MACHINE I WAS WONDERING, DID YOU MAKE THE OTHER ARCADE MACHINE AS WELL THAT YOU BRIEFLY SHOWED US? IF SO, I WOULD LOVE TO SEE A VIDEO GIVING US A LOOK AT IT AS YOU DID THIS PINBALL MACHINE. THANKS.
Pretty sweet. Do you have a sheet of glass over the play field tv?
That is soo cool!!!
wow that's awesome.
Shaun, great job. I am from Brazil and I am building my first VP and would like to know which software you use to switch between the tables ?
Your wife shouldn’t be mad at you, she should be proud. You did good
Table looks great, I would have been nice if you could have given a break down on building it and specs for the computer and video card used. Also what software did you use to create these pinball and arcade tables? Also a 12:11 you show your Arcade table is there another video on how you built it. Thank you for sharing.
Very cool game room. Glad you shared. I know people would buy those tables if you sold them. I'm people
Impressive.
That's awesome. It takes up a lot less space than a bunch of real pins.
Impressive
Good job
Fantastic Job on the build Shaun !! Just stumbled on it, really like your approach, I'll dig through all the old comments, wanted to know if you have a glass panel over the TV and what you are currently using as your interface software. I'll be incorporating a lot of your ideas when I get around to building my own.

Hi J! In this video I didn't have the glass installed yet. But I have since put a Plexiglas sheet over the playfield. I decided to go with plexi because it was thin, safe and affordable. Plus it looks great. The interface software I use is PinballX. It's totally free and really easy to use. Hope this helps!
What are your favorite few or most played tables out of the bunch?
head tracking? parts, software etc tell me more on that part pls....
Amazing build! How much did it cost you to do that?
Very Nice
So cool, I've always hated pinball game's but as i've gotten older i got more into them and enjoy them now especially the FX serie's on the ps4. I heard there's a VR one as well but the FX series of game which is even cooler. Nice machine btw
HI Shaun, I just stumbled upon your video as I am looking to build the same table. Do you have any documentation on yours that you would be willing to share?
Cool video. Any chance you'd be willing to share your PC Games Hyperspin theme? Looks cool and there's not a lot of ones out there. Thanks
Looks great! How much$$ did it cost you to build that unit?
Crazy idea. Put together a parts list in a spreadsheet with Amazon / whatever shop you used Affiliate links. Perhaps put together a video or book on how you programmed the menu system and sell that for a dollar or two. Might not make a ton of money, but might help you bring this project to a net zero level.
The object you were pointing to on the Twilight Zone pinball machine was the slot machine in Twilight Zone Season 1 Episode 17 "The Fever". You should add some haptic feedback of some kind on the plunger and the flippers. That satisfying feeling of hitting the ball with the flipper is hard to match.
Have you tried pro pinball timeshock with that? Awesome cabinet 👍
Can your software enable pinball effect to exit and back to game selection like how you select the game? Thanks
Wow! I like pinball, but always thought a traditional machine from any era would be too much maintenance. I do have fun with the electronic versions. How would you compare the action from your table to a traditional machine?

Evidently 3 years later, he wouldn't... lol. Idk why people make content and stay silent on their replies.
Great job. Love to know the PC specs so I know what to buy.
Amazing DIY build. 4:38 "...if you know what that object is..." Interesting interpretation of the actual twilight zone table. The real table has no item on top the plastic. I believe that it is a 3D slot machine or 3D player piano.

You can buy an optional ad on that is a slot machine to go there on the real Twilight Zone Table. P.S. The table looks awesome and thanks for giving an indication of the price for your build not too many people do that and it is really helpful to have an estimation of what I will be in for when I build mine.

Certainly a slot machine as it's over the slot machine shot. Also, the piano is red and right next and behind the slot machine. I used to play the crap out of this game in the arcades.
Great build, well done! I notice you don't have a glass covering the playfield (or do you?). Was that a specific design choice? Also, what spec PC are you running? Oh and congratulations for having such an understanding wife!
