Lol your test board i absolutely LOVED! I didnt realist at first that it was for testing on and i was mortified to see you starting to carve into it. Lol. But an excellent video and ive made notes all the way to get myself properly set up for it. Thanks heaps! Hugs Tibby x
Dear Laly,you are a gift to me these days. I live in the US and find that the awful stress of the last few months has made it hard for me to create. I have a desire to try encaustic,however,and you have presented it so beautifully that now I must. I will get lost in the wax and fill my soul with beauty. Thank you ever so much.

Thank you for your sweet words Marijane. I completely understand how you feel. Many participants in my online class are going through the same experience, whether they live in the US or anywhere else in the world. If you ever feel called to join our beautiful artistic tribe and create more light in this world together, we'd be delighted to have you! (registration opens tomorrow at www.lalymille.com/layersoflight and this will be the last session before the summer). Sending you much light & love ✨

Thank you for sharing!!!! I am new to Encaustic, however determined to try this art form out!!! Your video was very informative and greatly appreciated! I am still wondering when your done for the day how do you clean or store your brushes? and is it possible to use canvas at all? Thanks again in advance for sharing your knowledge!

Hi Lorie! I don't clean my brushes, just let them cool and then next time I can reheat them . Canvas is not recommended because it is a flexible surface and the wax might chip. You need to work on a sturdy substrate.

Laly Mille Arts Thank You!!! I didn’t consider the wax chipping... thank you so much for replying... Very much appreciated!!
Great info, thanks! Can you please tell me what kind if hanger you can use with the MDF? In the past I've used strong glue, sanding the board first, but it's not foolproof.

I place a picture frame hanger an inch or two from the top, attached with screws. Depending on the size/weight and thickness of the substrate, any of these kinds could work: www.amazon.com/Shappy-Hanging-Picture-Painting-Assorted/dp/B074GYPNMG/

Sur quelle matieres vous travailler?
Hi :) can you tell me what do you use to glue the watercolor paper down to the MDF?
@LalyMilleArts

Hi Charlotte! I glue it with matte gel medium. To help it stay nice and flat, I spritz a little water on the paper first.
Hi Laly, i have a question, you said you glue watercolor paper, but doesn´t it absord the wax too much without spreading throughout the paper?

Hi Raquel, encaustic works best on a porous surface so it's actually a good thing that the paper will absorb the first layer of wax, this way the next layers, once fused, will really adhere to the substrate. Have fun painting!

Is the loaf pan made of metal or another material?

Yes it's metal ;)
Can a pallet knife be used with encaustic? Anyone know? 🤔
@LalyMilleArts

yes absolutely, but you want to make sure not to use any plastic one with the hot wax.
I can’t wait to get into this medium Laly !! 🤍🤍🤍
