Thank you for your video and your honesty! For a while there I thought "Oh, no!" But you rescued it. I would have stopped before the birds layer, but then it wouldn't have popped with definition, like yours did at the end. We have to do these experiments to see what works and what doesn't. Thanks for teaching me something new, can't wait to try this! Keep on having fun and creating! I appreciate the soft, background music, because it didn't drown-out your voice.

I have been an encaustic lover for many years, and I do a bit of photography as well. I'm taking in your video, along with another local artist's videos and see if I get enough courage to make the jump from a normal high pace job to ... artsy encaustics of pictures i have taken and collected over the years. I'm 64yo now, so maybe time is right :) thank you very much for the ease in following your thoughts, descriptions, etc. and your positive predisposition in regard to art, as you go along making it. Be well and hope you're kicking cancer in the teeth!!

I've been interested in encaustic art for several years. Thanks to a current bout of insomnia, I was randomly searching online, and found your video. I haven't left a comment on here in years, but you are so generous, sharing your technique, that I wanted to say I really appreciate you for doing that. I so love artists that are open about their process, and find it inspiring, interesting, and incredibly helpful. I have been trying to figure out how to combine my poetry into mixed media, so your piece is like a divine intervention :) Beautiful piece. Really, truly appreciate you for sharing.

Wow, I can't thank you enough for sharing your thoughts and your kind words. I can't describe how much that means. Divine indeed. I haven't been doing encaustic work lately as I need better ventilation in my studio which is coming soon. I want to get back to creating new videos for this channel. You could DEFINITELY incorporate your poetry into encaustic pieces or mixed media collages.

@@PABragg Yes, I suppose so. My poems are typically a page long, so will have to just use parts of them (I think?) and they are brooding, and surreal, so my art would be too. I have a few encaustic books, and am ordering more. I'm inspired, after a very long spell of nothing, so thank you for that. I look forward to looking at more of your videos, and the videos of other artists. Thank you for the nice reply :)

So when you said you wish you had used Yes! paste - does that mean adhering your photocopy directly to the wood panel before applying the wax medium? Great question. As I fuse, I ALWAYS keep the heat gun moving and watch as the wax changes and becomes fluid. I put the next layer on within minutes. I have found that if the wax cools too much in between layers, it's a little harder to brush on the next layer. Hope that makes sense.

Same here. With larger encaustic pieces, they are done on cradle board which is easy to hang since it's framed like canvas. Not sure about smaller pieces hmmmmm… I hope to have that problem to solve someday haha
