    This is an example of a story perfectly told. Step by step for maximum understanding. (in English and French no less). On the matter of the art, the work is truly beautiful. The palette has been restricted throughout the entire series. This is a rare thing that indicates a level of intelligence and maturity.

    @@LalyMilleArts With so many poorly presented videos on KZread, your video stands out as exceptionally well made. It was easy to like it. I'd like to know: what happens when the wax gets to the edge of the mounted paper? Do you stop it at that edge, and if so how easy is that? I thought the edges of your encaustics looked very neat.

  • @LalyMilleArts

    @LalyMilleArts

    @@rr7firefly I let the wax drip over the edges, then once the painting is finished, I scrape off any excess bumps with a pottery tool, then apply 2 layers of wax to the sides. You can swipe the edges over the flat surface of the griddle or an encaustic iron if you like a really smooth look ;)

    @@LalyMilleArts Thank you for your explanation. Your work is so professional -- showing all of the careful signs of someone with experience and focus. Years ago I saw a beautiful exhibition in the lobby of the Transamerica Pyramid. It was called "Translucent" and several flat artworks had a thick layer of beeswax over a painted or drawn substrate. In every instance that layer was really smooth and looked great. I was smitten.

    Laly I felt like applauding at the end of your video. It is a beautifully crafted film . An absolute pleasure to watch. I am feeling inspired by your gorgeous art. Thank you. Do you buy your MDF substrate or do you cut it to size? Is it a solid block? I have not seen it before. Thanks.

    Spellbound987 , I saw another KZread video that poured resin over the top. The person liked the effect so much that they plan on doing it with all there encaustics. You wouldn't think it would work, maybe in the long run it won't. Slight scoring on the wax might be helpful.
