When I became more self-aware I began to recognise my imperfections, biases, judgements etc. And started being more understanding of others and seeing the humanity in them. I began to understand that love is not just an emotion but it is also a choice that all humanity is capable of making.

Self Awareness Questions to ask yourself 1. When you were a child, whose Love did you crave the most? Your Mom or your Dad? 2. Who do you feel like you needed to be for this person (Mother or Father) to love you back then? 3. What are five things that you do really well? 4. What type of things do people usually compliment you? 5. Which one of your already achieved goals are you the proudest of?

I felt the difficulty to speak about what you are good at... I'm very humble to a point where I hide my abilities because I feel like I'm boasting. I am academically gifted but I downplay it, I'm really good at trying to find something good out of bad situations, I'm good at organising, I'm good at making people feel comfortable and free around new people, amongst other things. I am blessed with a welcoming smile and I am very persuasive when needs be...but I just never want people to know that. I prefer not being in the spot light. At school, I used to get nervous just before my name was called out. And outside of school, I knew people who were confidant to an extent that their boldness was overpowering. I would have ideas and they'd shut it down but later use it or they would take lead in executing it. And for the longest of times, that really increased my fear of the spot light. I'm now realising that, all that does make people look down at me but I am trying to work on my self confidence... Slowly but surely

Thank you so much Mpoomy and Brandon. This podcast serves as a reminder to us all that in order to always be in a good space where you ready to self-improve, take one more step forward to fight harder n simply pick yourself up - SIMPLY MAKE IT A CULTURE TO REMIND YOURSELF OF WHAT YOU GOOD AT N LET THAT BE A FOUNDATION YOU CHOOSE TO START YOUR DAY FROM EACH DAY. IT IS HOW WE SHALL CARRY MINDSETS OF RESILIENT WINNERS N DIE HARD HOPES THAT GOD IS IN TO GRACE US WITH UPLIFTMENTS ESPECIALLY WHEN THE ODDS ARE AGAINST US.

I think I loved this episode the most because it is to do with self, something I struggle with a lot, talking about myself, and to be honest, it is so bad because I couldn’t even answer most of these questions 🥺 However I am extremely grateful for this because I have set a goal to sit down each day for the next 5 days to intentionally jot down answers to these questions about myself. It’s not modest to not be able to talk about yourself. It actually highlights a lack of self-confidence and awareness. So thank you both once more for always dropping gems that are helping us become better people. ❤️

Had to think about this for a moment. I craved for mother's love. Single mother, doing parenting alone, she did everything she could to make me happy. The woman literally hustled for me, however I feel I missed so much of her affection, the teasers I got there and made it worse. It's crazy how I can clearly remember the few moments I made her proud and those are still the fondest memories I have of her. With time, and me being an adult(less stress on her), I get to have moments of some extra love lol, however, I feel like it's not the same type of feeling that rushed up in me as a little girl. Still ,I'm grateful for her daily 💓

For me it's also my mom. She developed fibroids a few years after I was born. Back then medicine wasn't advanced enough, she went to a Specialist who botched her and eventually she had to undergo a hysterectomy. She was in and out of hospital for the most part of my childhood. Extended family /inlaws would make comments about her having only 1 child. I think it made her over compensate by taking relatives kids to 'live with me' because a child is not supposed to be alone. They even called me 'yedwana ' a child born alone. I think she felt she was not enough because she couldn't have more kids and in a way l started feeling like l wasn't enough for her. I became resentful and we didn't have the best relationship. But as I grow and l became a mom myself our relationship improved and I became more empathetic towards her. She opened up to me about her childhood too, how her father abondoned her even before she was born and how she struggled and couldn't afford to finish school because my grandmother who was a domestic worker couldn't afford it . I understand now that she had abandonment issues. She felt she had to 'perform' by producing kids for her to be loved and accepted. My father loved her unconditionally back then and he still loves her so much she just had to open to being loved and accepted unconditionally
