Secret recording between Trump and Michael Cohen played in court
Prosecutors played an audio recording of a 2016 phone call between President Trump and his then attorney Michael Cohen in court. On the call you hear Trump respond to Cohen saying he needed to open a company, and that he's spoken with the Trump Organization's chief financial officer, Allen Weisselberg about how to set the whole thing up. Paying in cash would have been an easy to see campaign finance violation. Cohen advise Trump that would not be the way to go. It does not prove Trump didn't know what the payment was for, it proves Trump knew Daniels had to be paid. Defense must prove Trump knew nothing about the payments and that he signed the cheques without checking what they were really for.

I don't think he's completely missing the point. I think he knows exactly what's going on and how bad things go for Trump. But he's playing the role of a defense lawyer on air. It's very disappointing to see this on CNN. I'm aware that things have changed since Licht became CEO in 2022. If anything, his successor doesn't seem to want to correct things. I’m not sure what the big deal is, everybody knows and has for a long time, that there was an agreement made to her not to speak and she was paid off. It happens all the time. The fact that they’re talking about it shouldn’t make a difference because everybody knows that they made the agreement to pay her off. She didn’t abide by the agreement and spoke after she signed it and took the money. I’m not sure how this is a big gotcha because no one is denying that they paid her off?
