Searching For Kanye West

Ойын-сауық

During his travels across the US, Ben Zand has intimate conversations with Kanye’s childhood friends in Chicago, his political allies in Washington, his soul-singing cousin in Texas, and his legendary manager in the Hollywood Hills. Ben’s search for Kanye is a fresh and revealing portrait of one of the most controversial and influential artists of the 21st century, at a pivotal point in the life of ‘Ye’.

He’s only called crazy because he’s an open minded thinker in a space where he’s expected to do as he’s told. He’s not operating on the simple left vs right dichotomy so misunderstood by those who are. (Hence why he’s friendly with Trump while donating to a Dem candidate.) He has a good hand in negotiating with Trump on prison reform, investment in Chicago etc as he realises Trump would benefit in 2020 from taking a chunk of the black vote from the Dems. And Kanye on his side could help that. For a year he’s having a “mental breakdown” (breakthrough) he produced 5 (maybe 6) albums and Yeezy hit €1B worth. He’s an extraordinary guy whether you like him or not. Looking forward to Yandhi.

I'm actually in agreement with Candice if you're asking someone if they're suffering from a mental health issue because of their political view then it is a highly inappropriate question. The only time that question is acceptable when it is put to a stranger would be if their behavior in your presence was deeply concerning. I don't understand why today's society wants to label everyone. Why can't Kanye just be a highly creative, super talented, trend setting, ground breaking artist & performer to the public & anything else remain a mystery.

Important to differentiate between conservative and liberal. One can be democrat and conservative. One can be republican and liberal. Also, conservative vs liberal applies to fiscally and/or socially. It has nothing to do with political ideologies even though the term has become inaccurately synonymous with one part or the other (i. E. Conservative Republicans. Liberal Democrat).

i feel like the interviewer couldve done a better job. he couldve gotten more out of candice if he had worded his question differently. rather than asking about his mental health straight after talking about his political ideaologies he shouldve clearly transitioned from it being a political conversation to a conversation about kanyes mental health based on what hes said in his music. she couldve had some insight on it

hi, i frrom chile, a country of very respected art people (pablo neruda, violeta parra, alejandro jodorowsky etc...). the most genious people is never loved in the generation that theay are livimg, and they know that... so i think kanye thinks without time like jhon lennon when he compared the beatles to jesus.

I'm getting pretty pissed off with people like kanye and his uncle. Being bi polar is not the same thing as split personality disorder, split personalty disorder is a rare kind of schizophrenia and is a completley different disorder than being bi polar, being bi polar is similar to being a manic depressive

Shaun pequeno I agree with you, however - Bipolar and schizophrenia are psychological illnesses, 'split’ personality disorder isn’t a thing, the correct term is dissociative identity disorder and is currently in debate as to whether it actually exists as a real condition. It has absolutely no connection to schizophrenia and isn’t classified as a mental illness. Also, manic depression is the old term for bipolar, a manic depressive is somebody who suffers with bipolar disorder. Not trying to call you out but instead educate so you don’t pass on false information about a very serious subject :)

You will NEVER see an artist with 21 grammies, a superstar family and a 1 Billion Dollar Clothing Brand speaking TRUTH despite being able to lose all he gained in life. No matter how many Taylors, how many Arianas or how many Gagas. They all fear to speak against what most people think. Against all ods. But not Kanye. Hate him or love him, he's the bravest artist we had in a long time.

19:05 Candace, it's not an inappropriate question because you have been closer to Kanye than anyone else watching this right now. Furthermore, Kanye himself has taken being bipolar on as a part of his own identity. Being bipolar is a mental illness. He was simply asking if you thought that he was truly mentally ill. People now use this in media when covering stories of him as well. Why is that so hard to understand?

I don’t think he’s mentally ill i just thinks he’s unpredictable and someone who gets things done; he has a productive mindset. Because of this I think he sees his productive mindset in trump as someone who is getting things done and making progress, regardless if it’s questionable. He sees himself in trump as a man like him. He is also controversial and the idea of him being a Trump supporter is crazy so he does it. He likes to challenge society and the world around him.

How is Ye more interested in politics than music? He was the main producer on 3 other artists' albums, released 2 albums of his own, and is currently still working Yhandi and Good Ass Job all inside of one year? That's 7 albums in year.
