love the sounds of those early jeeps. That distinctive non-turbocharged sound. Video well preserved considering the era. Nice post.

That large green Burlington Northern freight car ..... is that what is termed a "Cushion Car" that's what I recall that not being a "Box Car" rather that aforementioned. I was just turning 7 years old then!!!

I Love ALL of your videos. Miss the trains in my hometown. L&N ran just 2 blocks from my home. I love all of the FALLEN FLAG TRAINS. THANKS SO MUCH for posting the videos for all railfans to watch. kytrainman

@ 8:00... wow watching that switchman walk into the caboose, that's something he took for granted at the time... who knew that years later the frickn' doors would be welded shut and the windows plated over

Fantastic. Most the GP 9s went into that GP16 program. Amazing this one is in the FL paint scheme!

That is one of the Belt Line Geeps that ran piggybacks through Evansville from Wansford to Howell Yards.

There's also a Howell Yard in the downtown area of Atlanta, and with the demise of the big, ex-L&N Tilford Yard nearby, it has become the chief yard for CSX in that area. CSX also recently opened a big intermodal facility south of the metro-Atlanta area, and shut down Hulsey Intermodal Terminal on Dekalb Avenue, also in the downtown area. All the tracks from Tilford and Hulsey ripped up and gone. Hi-rise and big-money, mixed-use development, on the way, as residents flood back into the inner city

Amazing footage. I actually want to say there was an actual disaster in Waycross GA same year. Totaled a C30-7 and a U33C and a U23B. A U28B and GP16 were rebuilt and returned to service.
