The greatest hard rock band to ever come out of Germany. My first time hearing them was 1981 in Italy. When I listen to the Scorpions I have to play it loud.

Well said, Charles. To me, a Scorpions power ballad has substance. Nothing against other bands that did them, but it seemed Scorpions did them because the band all agreed to do them.

They never made those songs because producers or record labels wanted them to... and that's why they never made them sound like pop. They actually took their own songs seriously and that deserves respect.
I always liked the Scorpions. They were great in concert too!
Such a solid rock song. I would consider Klaus Meine to be one of the best vocalists ever…spanning all genres. For rock, atleast, he is up there at the top. His voice is still in great shape today!

@@uslegions2619 Oh hey, my first time being recognized from streams. I guess this officially makes me a regular 😂 I’m kind of talking out of my ass with my comment, I’m just basing it off of groups I have listened to before. I always say I don’t really like metal but I honestly don’t listen to metal enough to even have that be an accurate statement. Didn’t even realize Scorpions were considered metal. I just saw them as being hard rock. In my narrow view of metal, I just think of Iron Maiden, which I don’t listen to. I’ll give metal more of a chance one of these days. Might have to tune into one of B&L’s metal streams if those ever come back…

@@uslegions2619 Gotcha. Oh I’m sure it is! I think I’d like some other metal groups that have a similar feel to Scorpions but just haven’t really looked for any. Hopefully a metal stream happens one of these days. Can’t stick to just 70s and 80s decade streams forever. I usually prefer the more themed ones anyway.
Scorpions have a lot of great songs. You should continue to react to them. Very catchy riffs and great solos.
Man- his voice and those guitar riffs are crazy good! Great song!
This album was a masterpiece beginning to end I got to see them live at the Rosemont Horizon in Chicago insanely good show
In their heyday, they were the best live band period. Their stage presence was very original. Matthias was a beast. Flying split leg kicks, unbridled energy. They were the gold standard
Scorpions flirt along the hard rock/heavy metal razors edge. Regardless, they are great live & Klaus has an exceptional voice that is brilliantly complemented by the rest of the band! Klaus, Matthias, Rudy, Herman, & Francis defined '80's Scorpions!
They have some awesome songs from the 70s. In Trance, We'll Burn the Sky, Drifting Sun, Coast to Coast. Way more

@13_13k

@@ssRocker-nn3tp I'm a big fan of the Blackout album myself. Honestly, not much after that album has done much for me. I'm not a power ballad kinda man, and the direction their music started going had me losing interest more and more. I'm such a fan of the '70s stuff and the rocked with the release of Animal Magnetism, I think I was in 7th or 8th grade, maybe 9th grade. That album was hard and solid. Then Blackout did the same. They wrote well after that but I wish that Michael Shenkner would have become a permanent member. I think there would be even better music with his contribution.
I don't thing the Scorpions are metal I believe they are a hard rock band. The Scorpions have been killing it for decades, even their new album "Rock Believer" is pretty damn good.
This is the hard rock song that changed my life. Up to that point in 1982 I didn't have a music style of preference, just listening to my brother's stuff (Queen, The Cars, ELO, etc.) with mild interest. I heard this in junior high school playing in gym one day, and I was like "What is THAT??" Goose bumps, electricity in my soul, and a feeling of power I'd never known. I was hooked. Soon after I discovered them, Motley Crue, Ratt, W.A.S.P., Dokken, etc., and that was it: I was a metalhead (it'd be several years before I discovered Metallica & Slayer at the end of that decade). My brother kindly handed down his Van Halen albums to me, further cementing my metal & hard rock preference. But this song started it all for me, an experience I'll never forget. I enjoy many kinds of music now (new age, jazz, classical), but hardly anything does what metal does for my soul, it's difficult to explain.
I used to play this tape constantly. Still remember every word of every song. Sad they had been around over 13 years before this, but this was their USA breakthrough
Klaud Meine wrote this song about being away from his wife while touring. He is still faithfully married to his wife, Gabi Meine, since March 24th, 1976. Many of the Scorpions songs were written about her and his longing to be with her while on the road.
Scorpions are both metal and rock, damn this brought back memories of cruising around in the Trans Am as a teen.

1981 Camaro Berlinetta here; manual, 8 cylinder 😂
My ultimate favorite Scorpions song. This song rocks. Love the opening and mid song solos, both are awesome. Back in the day, before the name Heavy Metal was used, the Scorpions were considered Hard Rock, like Aerosmith. The theme of the video was he was on death row, on his way to the electric chair, the prison was Alcatraz. The twist at the end was he was dreaming/nightmare about it. I consider the two solos in this song to be some of the greatest guitar solos in rock, while not technically difficult, they are melodic and fit the song perfectly. Stay Cool 😎 and… \m/ Stay Metal \m/
One of my favorite songs. The guitar solo is simply amazing.
This was the band and song that brought me to the hard rock side and I never looked back. I love all genres of music, but this band will always be my all time favorite.
Per Songfacts this was the Scorpions' breakout song in America, where it hit #1 on the Mainstream Rock chart. The band is from Germany, but had tremendous success in English-speaking countries, something that might have to do with their unusual perspective.

Seen them on the Love At First Sting tour Friday, August 17th, 1984 at the CNE Grandstand in Toronto, ON, Canada. They recorded many songs off this tour and brought out a double live album called World Wide Live.
Scorpions are underrated. The voice is spot on and the guitar/drums are good. they just never got the exposure as some of the other rocks bands.

Ah Scorpions. Very very nice sound on this one. Love it! I have this album on tape cassette. Blackout great album.🤗
Scorpions singer sounds just as good today as he did when they recorded that song 40 yrs ago.
I love Scorpions thier videos are crazy lol. I'm was a teen of the 80s.
I saw them in 1988 in Fresno California. One of the best shows I've ever seen. They were FLAWLESS. Vocals on point musically they were perfect. Some bands struggle to reproduce what they did in a studio, where your able to record every instrument separately and splice in sections into one song. These guys sounded just like the album live. A damn good live show. Rocked it hard for 2 hours. Top 5 all time.
Greatest Band out of Germany.. There song Wind of Change is very emotional and inspirational to me being that my parents were born there.
This is their best song! This, and Still Loving You.
This was a road trip must back in the day. Damn I miss the early 80s.
the Scorpions now starting to tour the USATuesday... in Detroit... their 56 yr... lead singer Klaus 73 he still sounds the same... !! and they put on 2 hour + concerts...
This is one of the songs and videos that got me into hard rock and heavy metal in the early 80s. I would always love to see this play on MTV.
I like to call Klaus "Der Meistersinger", because he's so good.

I should have tried harder to see the Scorps live. I was in college at the time. My favorite is "Big City Nights". Rock on Brad & Lex
Saw them live in Germany around 1990 a band called Cinderella opened up for them I do remember it was quite the amazing concert and I managed to polish off a bottle of Malibu rum but I will never forget that concert and I believe it was in one of their hometowns. :-) :-) damn I'm getting old
That, my friends, is the powerhouse sound of 2 Gibson guitars. Mattias Jabs (lead guitar) is playing a Gibson Explorer, white with black stripes. The "Other Guy" (rhythm guitar) is playing Gibson Flying V. Both are "hardtail" or "fixed bridge" guitars. Most Gibson's are. Lex.... you shouldve returned the EVH for a decent Gibson. Pretty much any would be great. Joan Jett played a Gibson "double-cut" Les Paul among others. Fixed bridge guitars also do not have that locking nut up by the tuners. It's just a normal slotted nut that the strings simply go over and up to the tuners. That Floyd Rose, or "floating bridge" is a hard start for a beginner: tuning issues, string change issues, etc. AVOID THE FLOYD! A locking nut is a dead giveaway of something that might be a pain if youre not used to it. Keep rockin' Yall!
The best Scorpions song of all time.
I'm not really a hard rock fan but, I do like Scorpions. Their music and the lead singer's voice are great!
