I'm 64 and have a 30+ minute aerobic step-box routine with light dumbbells that I've been doing since last spring 4-5 times a week. It's similar in intensity to a light, steady jog. A couple of weeks ago, I started working in a few workouts with this pattern on days I normally would have skipped. Yesterday, I was astonished to find that my resting heartbeat has dropped by about 6-8 beats/min. WOW -- those "sprints" really are effective!

Very impressive. Ive been working out with weights to get muscular for about 6 years. Only recently started doing calisthenics and its much harder than i tought. Its nice to look big and muscular but its even better in my opinion to have full control of your body. Right now i can do about 8 good pull ups and arround 30 push ups. My goal is to start doing weighted calisthenics that way ill be stronger and more athletic. After just about 2 months of calisthenics i already feel stronger and more athletic then i was when i was doing 22kgs dumbell curls at the gym.

Dear Bob and Brad. Thanks for highlighting this study on your channel. I am realizing cardio and weight loss results in using it everyday for two weeks. I’m not sure what variables on this study were found, but I usually add an additional HIT cycle or two. Using a spinning bike I also have to add more friction on the 20 second intervals. Thanks! Much appreciated. Steve

32 and i just started doing interval sprinting again for the first time since highschool. im in pretty good shape from lifting and cycling, resting heart rate is in the 50s sometimes 40s but even still sprinting is a whole different thing. the intensity is insane. ive only been doing it once a week and ive only done it 3 times and already noticed drastic improvement in leaning out and the performance when i do the intervale sprinting.
