I needed to do some "skatenance" yesterday, so I took my wheels apart and cleaned everything. I am just now starting up my backwards skating. I just started skating last month. I love it. Backwards is so scary and so tricky. Going backwards, I have noticed, your odds of taking a spill, double, from just doing a basic forward skate.

Yes. Backwards is definitely more scary. Looking behind just feels so unnatural. Take your time, you’ll get there.

@@Skatie One month later, after repeated skatie videos, I am now into backwards bubbles, and moving at a good clip with feet in single file line, and am able to do sort of a figure skating, circle. I can do the moonwalk a little too. I am skating regularly and spending hours on the court or on the rink. You are so awesome. I just love you to pieces. Even as annoying as I am, you ALWAYS reply to my comments. You have a wealth of knowledge that surrounds you, your lessons are so clean and understandable. I am voting you #1 for skating instructors on the internet. Not only that, your accent and video editing is on point too. My skatie!

Great question. Helmets need to be double certified, S1 is a great brand. The wrist guards need to have metal on both sides. I have child’s size pads as I have such stringy arms! Haha. amzn.to/3FwutzY

Can we get a video doing backwards crossovers on altering legs going around the corners? Just an advanced version of this where you crossover backwards on both sides around the corner @skatie

I have a video on backwards crossovers. I think I show it in both directions. A great way to practice both directions is to do a figure of 8 if you can, without crashing at the rink! 💥
