    I really like how you added where to push from the inside on your video. This is probably the ONLY video out there that tells this! Very helpful for people trying to learn backwards skating. You should do a forward skating video showing the same thing and that would be the only one in existence. I as a new skater looked and looked for info like that and could never find it until you helped me out and answered my question in one of your videos. The weight and how to push is one of the most important things in skating but never added in videos for some strange reason. Thank you so much you have some of the BEST videos around! Hugs to you!

    I love wearing my denim button up, when I go to the local rink. It gives me a sort of a confidence booster. It helps do these sorts of skating patterns, with confidence. Plus, I like to stand out. I usually throw on a headband, a pair of sweats and again, my denim button up. I don't close the shirt though, I leave it unbuttoned and I'll wear a t shirt with a logo or writing on it. I also roll up the sleeves on the denim button up, to just above my elbows. It makes people look and it's quite comfortable and fitting to the occasion. It does help with skating, because I know I look good.

    It’s definitely an awkward position. I have a few other videos on backwards and one details how to work with the turning of the body.

    In the backwards pull - the outside foot appears to be planted not the inside… Am I wrong?

  • @Skatie

    It’s the outside foot on an inside edge that stays still and the inner foot does all the work.

    When you kick your foot out, do the wheels come off the ground?

  • @Skatie

    @Skatie

    2 жыл бұрын

    It’s best to take the pressure off the back wheels so they kick out easier. If you have harder wheels they’ll slide more but the weight needs to come slightly forwards to release the back wheels a little so they can move easier. So yes they do lift a little.

    Any advice for a man pair of skate as a beginner

  • @Skatie

    @Skatie

    2 жыл бұрын

    Lots of gentleman go for the plastic shelled skates but I’m not a huge fan as they’re so rigid. Personally I’d go with a black boot in something like the rookie artistic, suregrip broadwalks or Chaya Melrose. The heel, I know, seems more feminine, but I does really help with posture.

    Combining your video here and Dirty Deborah Harry’s video at kzread.info/dash/bejne/nG2Xp9GLpbXKkco.htmlsi=RL-UgMeN_VD9BQsC makes backwards skating around a rink finally make sense. Just thinking out _the movement,_ I think a good way to practice without skates on would be to walk or jog some karaokes. If you do laps around the perimeter of a space like a parking lot or a room, it would simulate backwards cross-pulls in a rink. If you’re only going leading-foot-under (like this kzread.info/dash/bejne/d66G06SMe8yXd9I.htmlsi=KlDQ4XNUJT-jVdEC ), I think the foot positioning and movements might be exactly the same for backwards cross-pulls. I’m so glad I found this video (and that one ☝️from Dirty Deborah Harry). This makes a lot more sense now. Thank you!
