That’s a good idea but if that conduit is galvanized it’s no bueno. When you heat galvanized steel it creates cyanide gas

No, it doesn’t. But it does create zinc oxide which is just as non bueno.

Nice. I've got a 3 burner Weber and a replacement burner assembly is $72. But on mine the only thing rusted out is the transfer tube between the burners. I'll try laying in a piece of copper. The original tube looks to be about 1/4 or 3/8, I think I'll use a piece of scrap 1/2 copper and cut out a significant slice on the bottom like you showed, and close the tube down to the right size. BTW, nice acorn at 8:10. LOL.

What kind of metal is the conduit? Could you use a copper pipe for the burners?

@@Doityourselfwithjoe you definitely want to avoid galvenised steel. It will produce nasty fumes when subject to that amount of heat. You can soak them in a tub of double strength vinegar for a week. It will remove all the zinc.

I used copper pipe and it lasted 5-Years, Much easier to drill. I used the 1/2" waterpipe the heavy duty, Not the reg grade it is to thin.
