Grammy's deciding body really doesn't know what they're doing. Two decades in and she still don't have an award. Nominations is not enough to recognize her contributions, work and passion for music. Beats me, why do people who can't sing even half as good as her have rewards and she don't. Maybe in another lifetime Sara, when everybody can hear what your heart is saying, till then, you will always be one of the unrecognized bests.

Sara Barilles is such a talent in writing and performing. She really deserve so much more recognition than she receives. This one never fails to make me cry.

This touched my heart and soul. Survivor of domestic violence, I jumped with my babies over 25 years ago and still have the emotional scars. I have finally found someone who is my safe place to land.

She is a genius songwriter and has a glorious voice but the two of them together on this is one of the most heartbreaking hauntingly beautiful songs I've ever heard, yet such a soothing melody, like a lullaby to the suffering masses of the world... and a calll to the rest of us to be the ones that will catch them.

There is something so reassuring about John and Sara's voices. This song is like a lullaby to one's inner child... perhaps I'm connecting to it more because it brings me peace after the last couple weeks. Thank you both for this duet.

People hear this song in different ways. But i listen to it when i feel... weak or lost. And it reminds me that I'm strong and I've survived everything life has thrown at me so far.

I do immigrant justice work full time, and I knew by the time the first chorus ended that this was about immigrants on the border and I LOST IT. I'm a puddle of tears. When John sang "imagine being in a building on fire and told to stand still." That's EXACTLY what we're doing to people seeking refuge. We must and can do better.

I cannot explain the tears. Sara Bareilles has always been able to write to the parts of me that I don't like to admit that exist. It speaks to me in ways that I wish it didn't. It hits me in the centre, when I have become so used to dancing around the subject in my own mind. It hurts in ways I try to pretend I don't hurt.

This song reminds me of the pain and the suffer that Syrian people have to walk through, the dark nights, the boats sinking, it's a terrifying situation I hope no one had experience. Keep refuges in your prayers, cause our "fair" world failed them so many times.

This song will mean So many different things to So many different ppl - Ultimately we are all the same in Love & Loss, Joy & Grief 🙏 to me it speaks in turn about Domestic Abuse, plight of Refugees & the Victims of Grenfell tower ♥️

I married at age 20 it ended up being a very abusive marriage in every way I almost had a mental break down I was able to get out of the house with some help of my Dr who noticed what was happening . I was 25 when I got out I have suffered ptsd for years I have not even dated in 39 years fear of going thru it again . I want to say how much this song has helped me and encouraged me to take a leap of faith and I'd find a safe place to land . Thank you Sara and John for this song and how it gives ones like me to keep going . God bless .

Sara Bareilles is one of my highly gifted underrated artists/singers who deserved to be heard by the world.Beautiful song.

I keep playing this over and over. It is a beautiful extension of the idea that we all must "be the change we want to see in the world." The heartbreak of separated families at the southern border was, I understand, your inspiration, but the allusions to the Titanic and especially the World Trade Center attack brought tears to my eyes. The end harmony with Sara's extended notes will raise goosebumps.

Such a beautiful song. I've recently become totally estranged from my family, my dad is abusive and narcisstic and I had to go no contact. I thank my ex boyfriend who still cares about me for giving me a safe place to land for now. So much for family. A total stranger I met online helped me a lot too.

One of the most heartbreaking songs by two of the most talented voices of our generation.

Sara can sing, like very, very few.

This song touched me so deeply, after dealing with domestic abuse and still fighting my way through a divorce. People there for us mean the world when I feel like all has fallen apart. I sobbed listening.

Just found this song. My dad played it for me. 3 and a half years ago I left an emotionally and verbally abusive marriage. I grabbed my 2 kids, left all our worldly possessions behind, and took a leap of faith. Luckily my family was there to be my safe place to land. I will never forget that fear and it is so hard to put into words. THIS song described that day perfectly. Today I couldn't be happier. The sun always comes up eventually.

I've been on both ends of this dynamic. When my world was falling apart and burning down, people reached out and offered me a safe place to land. I can only hope to do that much for others for the rest of my life, and hope I already have somehow.

It's so clear that she's speaking about current issues - wars in countries, the refugee crises specifically in my opinion, or the Mexican border. I like that she isn't afraid to state her view ❤️

@Franco Cavalli however in India, they accept refugees. As a country we need to do better at processing these refugee’s claims. You know, drain the sink.

In 2016 enough American voters did with Donald Trump as my ancestors did in the 1930s with Hitler: They chose to follow xenophobic fear-mongering, bragging, and lies. And elections have consequences. Donald Trump and his cruel administration has brought unbearable damage and the heart-wrenching suffering to the weakest of the weak, people seeking shelter. This touching song moves me to tears because it reminds me of how low we can sink, torturing those who deserve our comforting protection. And it is a reminder: We all can do better. You can do better, Franco! Life is about love and decency. Life is NOT what you see in the Trump propaganda channels, parroting his hateful lies every day. Hope you manage to escape that evil parallel universe. All the best to you!

Sara thank you for this song in todays world its hard to find that safe harbor. It brings awareness of the feelings immigrants from everywhere go through looking for a better tomorrow for thier children.

This just brought me to tears. The memory of running out the house barefoot , holding my babie to escape . Wish nothing but love and peace to everyone .

Also as a survivor of IPV this song embodies the terror of knowing you have to leave to protect your children but having no clue what lies ahead and just praying and knowing in your heart no matter what happens it is better than your children seeing what they are seeing
