she is just the right amount of famous... people know her music, she has an amazing fan base, but can go out and not get hounded by crazy people... i served her at a cafe in NYC and she was able to sit with a friend in a completely full restaurant and not be annoyed every 2 seconds... I think she is PERFECTION!!!

Many people may no realize how dangerous is to sing a capella song when the music enters later on. The risk of losing the correct tone is very high. But here, when the orchestra starts to play, Sara shows how perfect is her pitch. She never sings a note out of tune. And always with that big emotion. A truly singer, musician and song writer. ❤

Ana Martins i dont consider the song 'cheesy' if that you're proving or anything or am i missing something, i referred the word 'cheesy' to the phrase 'it melts my heart (you know, like 'on the nose sentences')' not to the song. It just my way of saying it, nothing more or nothing behind it. Edit: and i do acknowledge the songs soulfulness. That is why i like this song.

My mother was diagnosed with cancer two and a half years ago. As her youngest, I took it upon myself to be her primary caretaker, and I threw myself wholly into the honor. I stood by her side the entire time, and one of the things we did most often was drive an hour each way together to her treatments. We would also occasionally just go on drives for fun. I told her about this beautiful song that made me feel joy and sorrow at the same time and she loved it. The song has been a source of sorrow for me, as I imagined my mother, having had kids at a young age, mourning the passing of her youth, and thinking back to a simpler time in her life when she was free. But it has also been a source of joy for me in that my mother is now free from the shackles of her pain. I now think of her getting behind the wheel and simply driving, with no more fear, no more pain. The most powerful line in this song is “no enemies to call my own, no porch light on to pull me home.” I can think of no happier and sadder single lyric than this. To be without concern, and yet to be alone with no one waiting for you. All of this emotion is beautiful enough, but when delivered by the amazing voice of Sara Bareilles, it becomes transcendental. Thank you, Sara. Rest In Peace, Momma Bear ❤

This song always brings me to tears. How life can feel as we get older and our dreams change and sometimes even vanish. Thank you Sara for reminding me of a time when I had so much hope, confidence and freedom. You helped me to remember how happy I was then and I’m glad I had that time in my life ❤

"Once upon another time Somebody’s hands who felt like mine Turned the key and took a drive Was free I recall the sun sank low Buckley on the radio Cigarette was burning slow So breathe Just yellow lines and tire marks Sun-kissed skin and handle bars And where I stood was where I was To be No enemies to call my own No porch light on to pull me home And where I was is beautiful Because I was free Once upon another time Before I knew which life was mine Before I left the child behind Be I saw myself in summer nights And stars lit up like candle lights I made my wish but mostly I Believed And yellow lines and tire marks Sun-kissed skin and handle bars And where I stood was where I was To be Once upon another time Deciding nothing good in dying So I would just keep on driving Because I was free"

One of the only songs to ever bring honest to goodness tears to my eyes. The first time I ever heard this I could barely believe what I was listening to. Musical talent aside, the story and thoughts in this song are so vividly haunting to me. We've all lived two lives, and this song creates a bridge between the two. As a father to a toddler, it fuels my determination to try to provide a loving home and to instill into him a sense of enjoying every second of your youth. Be a kid.
