I’m Jordanian, they used to play this song back in the 80’s before the 8:00 pm news on channel 1 , back then we had 2 channels the country watch, so many times I heard and loved it when I was a child, when I grew up I found it and I still love it , Carmina Borano, to be surprised later when I tried to translate the song to Arabic and here was my shock , the words used are so deep and so real and it actually describes our lives as human beings and our destiny, the power of wealth and it describes the poverty and the pain people suffer and the wars and crime and much more, the translation was really heart touching. I advise everyone to translate the song to their language, it is worth every second of it Cheers

This is the best version I’ve ever heard..especially at the 2:38 part. The way the conductors eyes get bigger, throws his body into it and his hair shaking around adds to the electric feel in this version. He makes being a conductor look like a military General about to lead his troops into a historic battle
Is this not an one of the greatest songs ever written or what? Like literally all time.

Yes often. I love Carl Orff. Try this one as well: Gassenhauer! (Orff was a German Composer.)
I was in the choir singing this in the Albert Hall 60 years ago. The hairs on my neck still tingle listening to this.

PantheraLeoKing it was made in the 13th century. It was a text/poem made by goliards and was also used during a cantus, therefore the text was sung by students. I think that the melody was lost and that's why Carl Orff made his own melody to accompany it? 🤔😅

Fun fact: This song was written by the famed Roman scholar Severinus Boethius. He was falsely imprisoned and executed for allegations of conspiracy against the king. He wrote this piece whilst awaiting a terrible death, literally complaining to Fortuna, the god of fortune, about how unfair she is and how bad one's fate can be under her influence.

Ankit Agarwat, that is nonsense. There is nothing about this particular piece that makes it less recordable and reproducible that any other large, loud piece of music. And calling Orff's "Carmina Burana" a "masterpiece',....well it might have been HIS masterpiece, but compared to masterpieces by better composers, it is fun but not really all that impressive.

I thought it was Wagner for years. Sadly this was due to this song being in a Documentary about that one time in Germany when...you know, that "little madman with the funny mustache"-time. Unfortunately, a young and hungry Carl Orff did accept commissions from the Nazis for original musical pieces various Party rallies, but in his later years, with the benefit of hindsight, Orff was humbly apologetic, expressing no ill will to the Jewish people while admitting to admiring Wagner-as-composer, not Wagner-as-virulent-racist-piece-of-shit....Kinda like when I was first learning guitar and Ted Nugent was still a loinclothed heavy metal performer that didn't ejaculate from having guns up his ass,
