Very helpful, just got 4 of them for my tank and then found out about their feeding problems...hence came searching. going to try this method and hopefully keep them alive for a long term...Just like you, for me they are pets and not clean up crew only. Bless you man for the idea

If you get one of these make sure you have a lot of sand in your tank, the tank is atleast a year old and you also have to feel comfortable supplementing their feeding otherwise I wouldnt get one, also when first buying them (ONLY GET ONE!!!) and (ONLY GET THE SMALLEST ONE!!!) Getting only one and it being the smallest (Healthly) one will be the best plan to managing it and seeing how things go. Because if you don't supplement their feeding they can eat everything in your sand (removing the the natural filter your sands micro biome can provide) and then they will die from "star"vation which can cause a bunch of problems where you can have outbreaks of algaes and bacterias if your tank isn't mature enought to cycle waste without a lively sand system. Conclusion: Have a mature tank with a large, lively and deep sand bed; atleast 2 cm's to 1 and a half inches of sand depth. Be comfortable with supplementaly feeding the starfishes sandbed with small chucks of "de-shelled" shelfish/inverts eg; shrimp, muscles and clams. Only buy one! and try to pick the smallest healthiest one to make managing it's health and your tanks health the easiest.

I bought an orange starfish a couple weeks ago but my tank is only 6 months old so im worried it might die. I stopped cleaning my glass because apparently they eat the film algae ? Also when i feed my fish the star will actually make its way to the front of the tank and go along the sand...its pretty smart for not having a brain lol

@@RobBoryckiGolf I’ve thinking can’t I just add a piece under the star fish like once a day?? And then it can scavenge for pellets
