All About The Sand Sifting Starfish or Sea Star
This is who you need to sift that sand around to keep it pretty white! They don't knock your corals over like a fighting conch would and they get the job done. Make sure to acclimate them slowly so that they get used to the salinity.

Omg I am so glad you brought up the python! I hope I remember to move him before I vac the sand!
I think my star is starving he climbs the glass every day i read somewhere that means they are looking for new food places. Great to see you are active again!!!! (you said my comment in the video commented too soon.)

You say care level is easy, i keep reading people saying they wipe out all of your good bacteria and end up harming your tank
I need to get one of these my detritus is out of control.
Why would our sand star be up on all legs in a bent form. Like his body raised up off the ground and all his legs on the bottom
You said salinity or 1.023-1.025 (although I think 1.024-1.026 might be better). However the writing on the side says 1.020-1.025. I think anything below 1.023 would likely kill any invertebrates.

Not really. Clibarnarius species like Blue/Red Leg Hermits do venture off in brackish water such as Clibanarius vittatus.

@@calamari.jaksun8914 lots can thrive in hot high salinity waters - think tidal pools
Ive done a lot of research and most people say they are very hard to keep
Liked your videos. Also, really like the summary from care level to water parameters. Intro. to your videos bit hard to get through though ;o)

Love Starfish 😊
Hey Brock!! I was wondering some great hardy fish (I’m a beginner) for a 55 gallon reef!! I have a pink spotted goby, a pair of ocellaris clownfish, and a coral beauty angel! I was thinking of a yellow tang! Any other suggestions for my tank or is that enough fish?! Thanks!!

Ethan Barker That all sounds great! That’ll get you to 5. Normally I say a fish every ten gallons, but if you wanted to add a couple more you could. Cardinals, Pseudochromis, and basslets are some other hardy fish that are easy to take care of.

Victor Carrillo a lot of times they will go directly under the sand first but eventually they tend to get to it

These guys are great, I have 2.
My sand sifter started climbing glass n that's when I gave some chopped shrimp but he ignored n somehow fell off. Do u spot feeding them making sure they're not starving? BTW I have 3 hermit crabs who constantly hungry n they will pick all the leftover food

Clorox Bleach set him on the sand on top of a tiny tiny piece of shrimp and see if he’ll eat it.

@@BrockLeonard I did. But he completely ignored the food, its a chopped shrimp with garlic. I'm afraid it will starve, coz the first one I got I believe he was starving as he climbed up the glass for 2 days n slowly died the next day. I don't want to loose another sand sifter 😩. I have done my research though it says they r easy to keep 😭

Hey Brock I just bought a new star fish and when it was delivered to me, one of it's legs were detached, it was inside the packet, probably damaged while shipping after I acclimated it for close to two hours I put it in and it goes inside sand immediately.. but after few hours it has detached all it's legs or limbs, still moving around the tank but it has very little limbs left, just the middle disk portion It has been 8 hour plus and it's still moving and detaching limbs Will it survive and have ne anything wrong ??
They can't live in a 1 gallon though. (Every aquarium creature.)
