    @@sokolinek well despite the few stuck/desd pixels ( some white some black ) and despite the dark edges. I'm really happy with its performances. I will replace it with a new one. But I'm not using the G-sync cause it's giving me the feeling of jumpy frame same like V-sync which is turned off in game and Nvidia panel. Same goes for input lag. It's smoother to set it off. I'm still investigating that though posting questions in several threads regarding that. The Standard pixel responsivness setting is really smooth. Never mind the UFO test for blur buster you really won't notice it while gaming and it's minimal. When you get it make sure to calibrate colors to your liking. No need for a tool. Just play around with it till you are satisfied. The games really feels so responsive. I'm happy with it. And as TechCessory said "your won't be disappointed" 😃

    Well, I bought the Samsung, and I don't regret it! First I checked for bleeding, clouding and dead pixels, there is none. I'm so lucky the first try I won the monitor lotery. I tryed your settings, but they where too bright for me. (I'm in a low dimmed room or dark room mostly) so I cranked the brightness down and it's perfect. In speed and hz it isnt a match compared to Omen X 27, but I have great 4k resolution and everything looks so much sharper and clearer. Only the Xbox One X looks like crap, no matter what settings I try and also only getting 4k 60hz or 1440p 120 hz but no 4k 120 hz. Also updated the monitor's firmware from 1006 to 1008.1 but it still looks like crap. So, I ordered the Series X wich is coming tomorrow. Hope that makes a difference.

    @@BainCustom In the end I still swapped the Samsung monitor for Gigabyte M28U. My keyboard is exactly for the monitor, so I needed to replace the keyboard every time to reach the OSD button wich was after a few days doing that very annoying. And the image quality I still was not quite satisfied about. The M28U has the OSD button in the back, it's much easier. And... The M28U really blew me away. Updated firmware and can handle One X as well Series X. Also replaced all cat 6 ethernet cables in the house for cat 8 ethernet cables. This monitor really is amazing, so so sharp!! And very smooth! Still want to thank you for the review between Samsung and Gigabyte, they are both amazing, so you just take what suits you the best.

I tryed the Omen 27U 4K but sending it back, mouse keyboard as well controller are extremely heavy so lots of input lag, even when I cranked the sensitivity up. Ordered now the Samsung g70. But I don't think there is a monitor in this price range who can beat my Omen X 27 (1440p) except for 4k resolution, but input lag, response lag etc Omen X 27 is a beast. Despite it's a TN panel it sometimes looks like ips. Watching angles I don't care about, usually I sit in front of the monitor, not at the sides. I game and watch movies often in a dark room I really hope Samsung has no glow or backlight bleed, wich seems to be "normal" these days for ips... Well, I can't accept that I really hate it. We'll see, if Samsung is not a improvement compared to Omen X 27 it's going straight back.

    First off, thanks for commenting and asking a great question. It can definitely be challenging getting into the gaming monitor arena for the first time. For your question, it highly depends on the games that you play whether VA or IPS is better. VA generally does better on slower paced story style games where you don't need high fps. That's not always true, but generally a good VA will give better black level performance, higher contrast and so on. For first person shooters and any tactical style game that requires faster movement, IPS is usually better. It still provides good color pop, but black level performance and backlight bleed can be a little rough. Now it doesn't seem there is a VA that is HDMI 2.1 right now, other than a tv. The g70a is probably my top pick all around, but the gigabyte m28u is probably better if you're only doing story based games and not a lot of first person shooters.

    I agree that real-world experience is a more useful test than synthetic benchmarks, but why test HDR? HDR400 is fake HDR (see Hardware Unboxed reviews as to why), I leave it off on my M28U, the image is just flat and whites are washed out with HDR on. Also would be good to have some transparency as to whether the manufacturers are supplying you with the products and providing any financial incentives.

    I bought both of these myself. Normally I will say if they have (very few at this point), or KZread will pop up with a notice that it includes paid advertisement/sponsorship. Yeah HDR400 is not reliable, especially compared to a TV. But I get asked about it all the time, best HDR settings and so on. It's actually more for the console users than anything. All next gen consoles will automatically output HDR in game and in movies. So I throw in a test to compare and see if it's any good. Some PC users are interested too. Thanks for the input btw.

    After watching some recommendations I bought the M28U, in terms of specs and the generic tests it beat out the G70A. Unfortunately, I returned it due to dead pixels and news of QC issues. After replacing it with the G70A I'm not going back...the specs on paper might sound better for Gigabyte but after trying both, G70A delivers a superior experience.

    That was kind of my conclusion. The experience was just better. No that depends on the game, but overall I have no issues with the G70A. Hopefully I can test out that Neo G7 soon, that looks like a great monitor.

    Still a bit lost on which one to pick, I can only find G7A LCDs, But the M28U are all LEDs

  • @BainCustom

    @BainCustom

    2 жыл бұрын

    Technically LED and LCD are the same thing. At least the terminology means the same thing these days although they refer to two separate technologies. the M28U is also an LCD panel and the G7A has LED lighting as well. So I wouldn't worry too much about that. Unless you mean G7A TV?

  • @photonboy999

    If anybody reads this now: LED is just the backlight. LCD is the panel that filters light FROM the backlight to display. There used to be CCFL backlights but LED replaced them. So it used to be CCFL/LCD vs LED/LCD... now that all LCD panels use LED backlights it really doesn't matter if you say "LCD" or "LED" to describe the technology... there's a lot of OTHER details that matter but that terminology does not... (and don't confuse "LED" with "OLED" as that's completely different technology. Most people here would know this. So it's basically LED/LCD vs OLED for the forseeable future with LCD trying to get more LED's to control light production over a smaller area and OLED trying to solve burn-in issues... the technology is actually converging... if, for example, you had each subpixel having its own LED that was coated with QD material to absorb and emit red, green or blue light that would be basically identical to an OLED panel that has an "OLED" light source that's coated in QD material... so both technologies will converge on the same solution)

    Hi, I am currently stuck on buying the Samsung - Odyssey G7 28" or the Gigabyte M28U. The main reason I am stuck is because I read that the M28U has 24Gbps compared to 40Gbps for the G7. Does this play a big part for the HDR aspect? Also the M28U is $500 compared to the G7 being $690. So I am also looking at that, if the 24gbps doesn't play a big part.

    Also this monitor main use is for my PS5. I already have a BenQ 240hz for my gaming PC. I just want to be able to jump from PC to PS5 whenever I can and if not used for awhile use it as my second monitor for my PC.

    I appreciate the question there. Honestly it didn't make any difference for me, but I know that it was a big reason for many to stay away from the M28U. I still think the G70 has an edge over the Gigabyte, but if you don't want to spend the extra $200, then for the M28U.

    what is the difference betwwen freesync and gsync? M28U has gsync?

  • @BainCustom

    @BainCustom

    2 жыл бұрын

    So the M28U is gsync compatible, which means it functions with gsync, but is not a true gsync monitor. Whereas the Samsung G70A is certified by Gsync to have the proper hardware and software to full function with gsync. I would need a full video to explain everything in detail. They are both FreeSync monitors though. M28U is FreeSync Premium.
