Watching a lot of your vids now. Thank you. I'm currently running an ASUS 27' 1440p/144hz 2.0 HDMI monitor on my series X. At the time that I got it, the market for 2.1 HDMI 4k / 144hz monitors out there wasn't existent. Glad to see so many options out there now. Seems like the G70A was the winner in your book. I don't want to go any larger than 32'. That's for the great info.

Yeah I was stuck in that boat for a while myself. Of course, I wanted to have those options out on the channel so I sprung for a few to review. I honestly wasn't expecting much of a difference, but I have to say the HDMI 2.1 makes a massive difference. Anyways thanks for the watch, I'll see you on the next one.

Were you able to enable G-Sync compatible mode with the Acer?

This a proper test video. Show real-world tests in games. The best testing is side-by-side comparison test Benchmark charts dont show motion blur in real life.

So I did do some testing on the G70A with HDMI 2.1 - Check it out - kzread.info/dash/bejne/d6SG1sxmls7OlcY.html Personally I am not sure HDMI 2.1 makes any notable changes for PC Gaming. There are some helpful features, but not many that are functional every day.

Well even though I love the M28U, the LG GP950 and G70A to take the win between those three. I don't have much experience with MSI monitors, so I can't really speak to it. But out of the list you sent me, I would probably pick the LG, simply because every monitor I have reviewed from them performs and lives up to the specs that they boast.

I still use mine for the same exact thing. I grew to really like the Gigabyte, so yeah if it is still on sale I would go for it.

More than likely not. I don't think it is more than 18gbps. It might even be less.

does the M28 U have an USB C in or output? I want to to see the picture + load the battery of my laptop with only one cable?

If I'm not mistaken, the USBC is for uplink only and not display. At least, that is what I used it for (KVM). I did not test the video functionality of that connection, but the manual calls out the connection for their OSD sidekick.

Trying to make a decision between both these monitors. Looking to upgrade from samsung 4k u28e590d, The gigabyte m28U is currently 878$ CAD, and the acer nitro XV282k is 599$ CAD. What should I do brother?

Acer all day for that price. My main reason for not choosing the acer was the price difference at the time of making the video. It has come way down since.

More than likely not in the gaming monitor variety. There might be some sort of workstation monitor or something along those lines that have an anti-glare/glossy look to them. But I haven't personally reviewed one.

for reducing motion blur, what do you think is the better setting to enable on the M28U: Aim stabilizer or AMD free sync ? Blur Busters says that the M28U can do VRR + motion blur reduction, is this true ? With aim stabilizer enabled, what would the optimum calibration be? could you find out please ?

I can add this series to my testing for sure. I can't say I will go in and do all that research, but it is a feature I have used on other monitors. I have used Gigabyte's, Asus' and MSI's strobing feature. They do not disappoint. But I have not tested the VRR Strobing tech. I am interested to test it out on the next go around.

When you're playing Warzone on the M28U do you prefer HDR on or off?

I have a chance to buy a m28u for $100 used but good condition my other option was a new Acer which I wanted for the 32 inch but my question is it worth the $400 difference

I stick to what I recommend in the video. If the Acer is that much more expensive, it is not worth the extra money. The testing wasn't that far off between them to justify the difference in price.

I got the acer nitro 32 inch 4k monitor for £360! Absolute bargain! Extremely impressed with it for that price. Have an OLED TV for when I want HDR console gaming. For those who need HDR these monitors aren't great but otherwise I recommend acer nitro when it's on sale

Nope. Both monitors only support 24Gbps over HDMI 2.1 so you'll have to run your PS5 with 4:2:0 chroma subsampling. For full bandwidth (48 Gbps) over HDMI it is recommended you choose the Asus VG28UQL1A which uses the same Innolux panel as these other two. Most professional reviewers indicate the motion performance on these 3 monitors is very similar (minimal ghosting @144Mhz and moderate to strong overshoot @60Hz). I think this guy used different cameras for capturing motion, the M28U shouldn't look that bad and Acer shouldn't look that good.

Right now i'm trying to select a new monitor, and the Acer xv282k is $100 cheaper than the the M28U.. now its really just me debating if i want to spend double the price on the sony M9

The firmware is F03 in this video. I have since made the update and intend on testing that update against the Samsung G70A in a comparison video. I may also put out a video on how to update the monitor.

I think for motion blur, you may need to test it by turning on both VRR mode and BFI (Aim Stabilizer ). But gaming refresh rate needs to maintain at 100hz and above, and Acer X282K seems unable to turn on both at the same time.

KZread needs more vids like this the “vs” type but with the 32 inch versions of these monitors the 4K high refresh rate hdmi 2.1 ones cause 28 inch for 4K is too small…

My only problem with the 32 inch 4k monitors is that they are the price of a 48 inch OLED. Although I still think a gaming monitor is the best option, that makes me think things through a bit differently.

Thanks for the comment! I have definitely seen less buggy issues with the Acer, but I didn't feel like I got a big enough performance difference from the G70A for the price difference. But if they were the same price...probably the Acer because it seemed to perform all around just as good as the G70A without some of the complaints around dead pixels and black screen flicker.

The second one have higher refresh rate, usb c, usb b and 4 usb a port

XV282K has 65W PD vs M28U 15W PD. This alone makes Acer the better choice for laptop docking and gaming on console.

@@BainCustom I have MacBook Pro M1 14, and it works fine. Able to charge my laptop and do 48hz to 144hz variable on XV282K with usb-c cable.

Whats the best 4K monitor out there right now? Money not an option I was looking at the View Sonic xg320u, Jayz2centz just did a review. I'm staying away from LG now after my 27gn950 went into a deep sleep, and can only get black screen now. Cool review though 😎

If I had to bet it would be some sort of OLED gaming monitor. LG's ultrafine seems like a nice go to. Outside of OLED, yeah I would put my money on Viewsonic having just some of the most well rounded and top tier gaming monitors on the market bar none really. I haven't put too much stock into the whole, no $$ limit so I don't know what is truly the best without question.

I’ve read reviews that state the M28 u has a fair bit of input lag which surprises me is it true

I can feel the difference between the M28U and Acer when I was testing for this video. I didn't measure it, but I would have to agree with those other reviews. Although it's not enough to deter me from using it as my main monitor.

You can maybe hold off for the 42 inch LG OLED. That is not really a monitor though. Samsung will surely have more launches and more stock coming soon. LG GP950 can be a reliable bet of quality. And of course the Acer Nitro in this video. They are all good monitors, some are just better than others.

Hi I wanted to get the M28U as it’s the only 2.1 available near me. I saw your review and rtings also. I wanted to know how is the performance at 60hz at 4K as rtings mentioned something about overshoot or bluryness from 60 to max fps. First off: Thanks for the awesome question and I hope you do find the right monitor for yourself. Sometimes there is too much information out there and it can be tough. So, after having used the M28U for a few months now....it is still my main monitor. Yes I have the Samsung G70A and I have tested out quite a few other monitors. But because it is kind of a utilitarian type monitor, I just use it as a daily driver. Sure the G70A is a bit better, but it's not world ending to go with the Gigabyte. Now I wouldn't rule out other monitors, but don't get caught up in the FOMO. as far as motion when it comes to lower fps....it could be better. But that is why it isn't $899 and it is $599.

Might be a year old but fast forward and now paying just under 400 UK pounds for a Acer Nitro 32" 4k 144hz screen.....................................Great price and great spec of a monitor, the price just made it better :)

What is better, the Nitro XV282K or Predator XB283K? the Predator seems to be newer and cheaper, what are the differences?

I am working on that I promise. So far each 4k monitor I have reviewed has done well with the PS5, but there have been some good 1440p monitors too. That being said, I will be pushing through a ton of PS5 monitors early this year, but those videos are still in the works.

But why do you use 2 different videos on each screen, ur using a video on the m28u of someone recording their own screen

I am glad you did. It is still my everyday monitor. But if you compare them side by side the Acer nitro is better. That being said, you pay $300 more for it. So of course it should be better. At least I would hope for that kind of money it is not worse.

don't you guys see he's testing m28u in the KZread , which means video was rendered in some way which could have led to potentially loosing some frames or quality. on the other hand Acer testings are all in the media player on desktop itself. this doesnt mean he made it intentionally or something like this but you know you have to test things in the same so called atmosphere

I get what you're saying. There's always a potential for misinterpretation or a video camera not capturing real life properly. That being said, each video is captured using the same shooting method style and lighting, with the same tests and hardware for consistency.

I still stand by what I said. The Acer is not better than the Gigabyte when it is priced higher than the gigabyte, especially when it was $400 more. But if it is cheaper, yes it is a no brainer imo.
