Hello from Portugal. I am currently using a BenQ ZOWIE RL2455T 24 inch 1080p Gaming Monitor | 1ms 75Hz. I use this monitor to compete in domestic e-league (Fifa ). But im thinking about buying a 27 inch monitor...Can u help me choosing one? Please ..ps i have a budget of 350 $ tks in advance

At 27 inches I find that 4K doesn’t matter much. 1440 P is more than good enough at 27in however, I would still make sure that I get a monitor with quantum dot or 10. Bit color for the best experience

Except it does if you are trying to go for true “retina” display as apple dubs it. Higher the PPI, the harder it becomes to distinguish pixels and everything - from text to textures look richer and crisper

If you can afford it, always go for 4k. If you cannot, 1440p is fine.

It’s worth noting the Series X, or S for that matter, will ONLY support HDR if your monitor/tv accepts a 4K signal. Some 1080p or 1440p screens will accept 4K input and downsample to 1080p, in which case HDR will work. Just giving you guys a heads up because there’s a large number of HDR ready 1080p and 1440p screens out there.

The C looks worse than the m32u, granted it is curved but that also means a VA panel instead of IPS which has better color range. IPS displays can also go to higher refresh rates which if you’re using Xbox won’t matter.

Great points. Affordability is important and tech prices drop as the tech becomes more widely available. Also your point on most games not doing 4K 120 or even 4k 60 in some cases is important. Starfield, one of the biggest games of the year, is only doing 4k 30 so I guess it kinda shows how challenging it is for devs to ship 4k 60 or 120 games right now even with the latest gen.

Nah the consoles aren’t the problem in this case. A $1000 PC could barely run the game at 4K 30fps. It’s just not optimized well and depends on the cpu too much

I have a PC with a Rtx 4070 and Ryzen 9 which is way better than an rx 6800 and it can barely run the game at 4k 40fps at high settings so what you’re saying just isn’t true. So if it can’t even do a native 4K 60fps then a $1000 PC definitely can’t especially a prebuilt one since that’s a more fair comparison since consoles are prebuilt. A PS5 can run that game at 1440p 60fps easily and it’s only $400 compared to the price of an equivalent PC and I would know because I have both a PC and PS5

Im in a weard place. I want a 32inch display but no tv maker makes a good one. And no monitor that i could find makes a good 1080p ips monitor. My two systems are ps5 and nintendo switch amd the switch looks like crap on a 1440p.

I got a 1440p 165hz monitor a few years ago for $200, before I even owned a PS5. Then after I finally got a PS5 I was bummed out that my monitor doesn’t have hdmi 2.1. Turns out this doesn’t really matter though, since I don’t need 4k 120. I am missing out on VRR, but I don’t need that either. All the games I play run great. Best bang for the buck out there

You're overlooking if people use their consoles to watch multimedia applications in 4k like prime or netflix etc.. also alot of games do support 4k so I think it's better to have than not if you can afford it. I love playing on my gigabyte auros fv43u and it's features just overal are ideal for my PS5

Or maybe get a better tv? They make 4k ones too. You'd get more bang for your buck because you can watch movies and TV in 4k as well as game with it. It's different for PC monitors. Unless you do all those things with a monitor or simply have the cash to spend on one, it's better to just stick with a UHD with higher hz.

I use the LG Ultragear 1440p 165hz on the Series X. Colors are amazing and smooth 120 frames, I have fps counter on so I can see my frames at all times. I only have “allow 50hz/24hz” and VRR enabled, everything else unchecked. I use 10 bit color setting as well.

I think I'm going to have to disagree on this one. Here it is 7 months later and I picked up an LG GP95R (equivalent to the GP950) last week for $399 new at Microcenter. It's 27", 4k with HDR, HDMI 2.1, and 144 hz.

That’s true but there are a lot of games that have 4K 60hz so you’d want the 4K for games that are say single player and more fun than competitive so it’s not like it’s a complete no for 4K 120hz

Im gonna wait blackfriday if theres good 4k hdmi 2.1 monitors in good sales otherwise i upgrade my 1080p to 1440p if there is good sales then i upgrade it 4k

I play in 4K60. Admittedly I've never tried 120Hz before so I don't know if that would feel better, but I have no qualms with 4K60 4ms response time

I went from a lg 32inch ultragear 1440p monitor to a 43inch 4k 60hz vizio tv. Most games on my series x only run at 60fps anyway. Plus I get 4k visuals and my vizio tv supports vvr. Don't really play fp shooting games other than hell let loose and it looks great on my 4k 60hz tv.

What monitor do you recommend that's 1440p, 240hz or 160hz, and has hdmi 2.1 for vrr.

Nicely said. A 1440p monitor is the best budget option for PS5 tbh. I just wish Sony supported FreeSync, hopefully soon. I don't mind gaming at a desk so it's great!

​@katsuquiet97 wrong, most console games don't hit 60 and hover in the 50 frame range. Vrr smothes this out. Thr lack of vrr in 1440 mode makes 1440 monitors a no go for ps5. Hopefully sony will fix this with future patches though.

@@katsuquiet97totally wrong. VRR works as low as 40fps on Xbox. It’s smooths out all games you are running at 60fps. It just won’t work on 30fps games. I believe Ps5 has a worse range at 48-60 fps.

I been playing on 4k for years then I switched to a 1440p 120hz and I never sent that monitor back so quick lol I couldn’t do the graphic change it looked blurry its was terrible

Is the prism 165hz curved one good on amazon? The ultrawide and so are you telling my getting a 4k is not worh the money for ps5 gaming? And can you recotthe exact monitor i shohld use?

The other day I said the same thing and commenters fired back -- the idea is not necessarily 4k/120fps, but rather dynamic 4k @ 120hz so that you can have unlocked fps and play at 40-80fps (like Horizon/spiderman/god of war games).

OLED TV is the way to go for console IMO. I like to relax and game on the big screen. I have a 1440 monitor, and a 4K TV for gaming. I've played on both and prefer the TV by a long shot, but we all have different applications and preferences

If you play competitive games that’s horrible 10ms response time @60hz because say someone has a 1ms response time @144hz 10/10 times someone of similar skills will win unless you have significantly lower in game ping

I have a question for any expert that can help me. I dont like play shooting games or fast paced racing games. I single player RPG gsmes i.e final fantasy, ghost of tsushima, god of war, dragons dogma etc Is it ok for me to focus on 43" - 50" 4k tv with 60hz? If a monitor is expensive today, it will likely become cheaper in the future, but new features will be added, making newer models more expensive. You can get the monitor If you want that 120hz it's up to you.

Warzone, actually a couple more of CoD, Fortnite, Spider-man, God of War: Ragnarok, Doom Eternal, Destinty 2, and some more I can’t remember right now, Devil May Cry but only the special edition I think, and Uncharted Thieves Collection. Umm, The last of Us i don’t remember but they made a remastered version and thats a maybe, so did GTA 5 but hell you can always google… I’m sure I missed some but you can surely get some fun playing those in 120hz

So investing in a 4k 120hz hdmi 2.1 isnt worth it? I was planning on getting the ultragear for my ps5.

I think it comes down to how you are going to use the monitor and what you play. Obviously if you are using this monitor for other stuff like design, video, watching movies then the 4K element has more of a payoff, but all that stuff will never go over 60fps anyway. So it really comes down to what you play. There are VERY few games that support 4K above 60fps. That being said, there may be games you play where you don't care about having a high refresh rate, you just want to play it in 4K. So if you are the type of player that likes to bounce between a slow paced game at 4K/60fps and then play something like Call of Duty at 1440p/120fps then an HDMI 2.1 monitor makes a lot more sense.

Having a ps5, series X and a gaming pc, i have them all hooked up to the same 27" 4k gaming monitor and use my hdmi switch to bounce between whatever i want to use. I will keep my 4k gaming monitor, thank you very much.

I have the neo g8 that I got at a great deal for like 500 bucks and it's way better than a 1440p. I can literally see the difference in graphics and most of the games I play run 120hz 4k. I am on PlayStation so it's not like I would get more framerate running 1440p. I agree, I probably wouldn't spend over a 1000 dollars for a 4k but I'm glad I got this monitor for a steal.

Thank you so much, based on my budget I couldn't afford 4k with 120+fps but this suggestion will save me money. 1440p +120+hz is within budget and truly a sweet spot.

Does the PS5 VRR work on a Samsung odyssey 5?

Not really. I bought a 1080p monitor for my ps3 and it works well till today. I enjoyed ps3 and ps4 on it for a decade and only switch to 4k monitor when ps5 launch. Similar case would happen for ps5 and ps6. The latter would not magically be an 8k gaming device. It would likely only be able to do 4k gaming.

So seem as though you are a gamer can you tell me what the difference is between 1080p and 3840×2160p for KZread video creation please? Like I was working with 1080p on a 4k TV and have swapped the video resolution around to 3840×2160p and I'm not really sure what the difference is apart from my PS5 now runs differently. Instead of being able to stay put with my games I now have to come right out of my games to edit and view then post to KZread. Like what's the significance of 3842×2160p opposed to 1080p can you tell me please brother?

What about 1080p?

I use the AOC CQ27G3S 1440p 165hz monitor for my Series S. And I play my Series X on a 50' inch Sony Bravia 4K 120hz TV. The only games where I can notice a difference in performance is Red Dead 2, which isn't optimized and possibly A Plague Tale Requiem. But I can't see a difference any other time. I play them both equally

Not all games so 1440p 120hz bumps to 1080p I just leave it had 1440p 60fps

I have a series X with a 30 in spectre curved monitor and it works fine

Exactly...That's why it's so important to do research...The differences between gaming on the Xbox series s, with a 32" 1440p 165hrz Gigabyte hdmi 2.0 monitor and a high-end 4k uhd monitor are not noticeable and don't justify the bigger price tag

I play 4k 120 on my tv and I can’t go back to a lower resolution

Playing XBOX SX on an old (60Hz) 4K And everything is great, Tried 2K but PPI is trash on 2K monitors...

I regretted going for 1440p route. 4k looks way better and i dont play many 120fps games anymore.

What if you want to do the other way around like 4k 60 instead of 1440p 120, which is better??

What are you doing if you’re playing last of us or god of war 4k @60 if you’re grinding out champ on r6 siege or pred on apex higher frames with 1ms or lower are king just ask yourself if you’re a casual player or a hardcore competitive player trying to be best in the world

PS5 requires hdmi 2.1 for VR, and certain games let you uncap your frame rate if your display supports VRR

Console are mean to be use with a TV with a Upscaler . in-tv upscaler are realy good specialy Sony one.

I disagree I had 1440p 32 Samsung monitor got it to not hog the TV and used a HDMI 2.1 to DP cable to get the 120hz. The colors looked washed even if I dropped the resolution to 1080p. I then traded my monitor with someone that had a gigabyte m32uC monitor. It has 24gps HDMI 2.1 the PS5 doesn't support 48gps HDMI 2.1 so this monitor was perfect for the ps5 and the Xbox series X/S no regrets. The colors look ridiculous. My tv has a high refresh rate of 120hz but no matter what settings I used I couldn't get the 120hz on any of the games that supported 120 only if I used an edid emulator plug and dropped the resolution to 1080p but gaming at 1080p on a 75inch tv with next gen consoles and only HDMI 2.0 well you tend to see it foggy. My tv was meant for sport viewing not gaming. The PS4 ps3 n Xbox One and steam deck look great on it but my ps4 pro n ps5 looked washed out. Get the gigabyte M32UC or flat. I've seen them used and refurbished on Amazon for as low as $300 and it's a $600 monitor. Don't fkn listen to all KZreadr. Some just go by specs(not this guy of course but most do) there are some cons when it comes to console gaming on it NGL but man does it pack s punch on PC gaming. I love my purchase. I almost didn't get it cus I went looking at KZreadr reviewing it. Went to Reddit and so many people told me to take the chance they didn't regret it and they were right

But how good the colors look isn't necissarily releated to the resolution. You can theoretically have a 4K resolution screen, but with bad colors, and vice versa 1080p screen with amazing colors. The 32 Samsung monitor could've had either wasn't tuned properly or actually had bad colors.

Question: if u get 1440p w/120fps would we still have screen tearing since we don't have Hdmi 2.1 ?

For a top competitive advantage, 24 inch is the beat. All of the pros use 24 inch. 27 inch will also get the job done well. Anything above 27 inch, you will noticeable competitive advantage

For any other OCDs out there. I just got an LG 4K 60hz and its awesome for the series X. The screen does not lag. If you do t notice lag on a normal 50/60hz tv, you sure as shit wont notice on a monitor.

I hate to admit it but a 500$ PS5 or 500$ xbox series x is pretty powerful compared to a 500$ gaming pc. I wish I could afford pc gaming build my last pc in late 2019/2020 upgraded a few parts a better ssd (m.2 ssd), better fans, I'm currently saving money for a Ryzen 7 5800x3d and a RX 6800xt.

Shit I just upgraded from a 980ti 😂 I was waiting for prices to return but they just kept going higher done with nvidia just because that but I scored a 5700xt for $150 on Facebook marketplace a few months ago

I had the LG 27GP950, 4k 144hz and cost a ton. But I have zero regrets buying it because I got the best of both worlds. Until it crapped out :)

I always preferred quality over performance, 60-30 isn't that bad, I was playing at 15 fps for 10 years

Framerate is locked on most games so it's going to run at the same Framerate whether you are at 1440p or 4k so you may as well go 4k. Hopefully that will change but I doubt it.

Aren't most games not native to 1440p anyway? PS5 didn't even launch with 1440p as an option. It's just upscaled 1080p most of the time.

But i prefer resolution i want obly 60fps but 4k + ur wrong not next gen, ps5 pro is close

whats your thoughts on 1440 ultrawide on consoles?
