    2:18 the sticker on the back of the TV that says 60hz is NOT telling you the screen's refresh rate, it's telling you the frequency of AC power that the TV is suited to. In the US it's 120v 60hz, but in Australia for example it's 240v 50hz.

    indirectly it is; a refresh rate can not go higher than the frequency of the signal that the tv puts out. if someone is selling you a tv with 60Hz/50Hz frequency and then tell you that the refresh rate is 240Hz they are lying to you. The physics does change because the monitor is now $400 more expensive with vibrant and pretty colors.

    there aren't even any games that run both at 4k and 120 fps. Almost every game with a 120hz performance mode will force you into 1080p. Everyone is getting so worked up about it but AAA games on console hardware can't even keep a stable 60 fps while playing in 4k. The hardware is impressive, but still not capable of running games at 4k 120 even if they wanted to. When it does, it does so by dynamically scaling the resolution down anyway to maintain stable framerates during graphically intensive scenes or moments in game. Even on PC with a RTX 3090, 4k 120 fps gaming is still a pipe dream unless you use tricks like DLSS and turn down your graphics settings. But by doing so, you are no longer really playing in 4k, it's just upscaled lower resolution that is pretending to be 4k.

  • @DarrinLin

    @DarrinLin

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@marcquinn8230 it will depend on your budget and desired setup (sofa gaming vs desk gaming)! I think Sony Bravia TVs are very future proof and have automatic HDR tone mapping with PS5 and intelligently switches between game and movie modes depending on what you're doing on the console. They are expensive, but you get what you pay for. LG also has some really nice options that support HDMI 2.1 and variable refresh rate. But if you have a stricter budget you should just know that 99% of all games won't take advantage of 120 Hz while in 4k. So you can save some money buying a 4k 60hz tv and it's perfectly fine. You shouldn't feel like you are missing out on your gaming experience at all. I think in order of importance you want in a TV for great PS5 gaming experience: 1. Low input latency and fast response time (as low as possible) 2. HDR10 certified (at least 1000 nits peak brightness) 3. at minimum 120 hz refresh rate at 1080p 4. at minimum 60 hz refresh rate at 4k

The last console that I had connected to a TV was the original PS2. The other piece of information that needs to be understood is that an HDMI signal audio separator is required, such as one from Astro Gaming if you want to use a 5.1 or 2.1 speaker setup. I use the Astro Gaming unit to get a SPDIF digital signal to my Logitech Z5500 5.1 THX system in my home office.

    You keep making the points I make to myself. I AM PERFECTLY content with 60frames at 1080p on either TV I play on. The other usually stays tv lol until I can afford or prices cone down on a REAL 120 frame at 4k TV to replace one of these. I DONT USE MY DESK OR TOWER AS MUCH AS I SHOULD A MONITOR WOULD WORK BUT NOT REALLY FOR MY SET UP. You can find decent prices on good 4k TVs that run at 60 but then have (like Toshiba I think is one) softwares that claim to "simulate" (or whatever) 120 frames. But ultimately I WANT a 4k TV for TVing and PS5 so it makes more sense to wait for exactly what want. I keep getting dangerously close to a monitor, but I really would need to change my whole set up, or even what will essentially be wasting money on TV that 4k but only 60 frames or even fake 120. Thanks for the video. I honestly think it helped hearing you make tye same points my smart shoulder kept making. If I still played CoD or any. FPS as HARD COREas before the monitor wins, but I REALLY REALLY ENJOY MY ME TIMEGANES ON À DIFFERENT LEVEL NOW AND I WANNA TAKE THRM ALL IN.

    What you are not mentioning is the image quality of the screen. Monitors are far behind TV's in image processing and HDR quality. To buy a good quality monitor with good HDR 4k @ 120 you will be paying as much as a tv. Many high end monitors use IPS panels which are garbage for contrast ratio. OLED prices are coming down as well, you can get a 43 or 48" OLED that will blow away any 2.1 hdmi monitor likely at the same price. I personally prefer gaming in my lazyboy (better on my back by far) and use a 48" LG CX closer up and it is perfect. I already sit in a uncomfortable chair all day for work, I want more comfort when gaming long hours after work. Just my opinion, I have done both but the OLED TV's are king for gaming.

    Ok, but one serious question. If money isn't an issue, what is the best option for the fastest response time in FPS gaming: 1. Is it a 4k 120+hz? 2. Or is it a 1440p 120+hz? I ask this because I saw your video where you recommended not to use 4k because of the actual "horsepower" the PC needs to be able to handle it without affecting the performance. That's why I ask this question. Did anyone test this yet, does PS5 has that horsepower to be better in 4k 120+hz vs 1440p 120+hz? Thanks, Z

Ended up getting a LG 32'' UltraGear QHD 165Hz HDR10 Monitor with NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatibility and AMD FreeSync Premium Never used my PS5 on it. But it runs my PC games really well. My 4K 3D Sony Bravia just went out after 6 years. Recently replaced it with a 55” LG OLED C2 series and wow. Still has all that Nvidia and AMD stuff it in and it’s great. HDMI 2.1 is definitely required if you want ray tracing in 4K at 60+ frames.

    I have an LG C1 and Samsung S95B both with 4 2.1 HDMI ports and do not plan on going to a monitor anytime soon, due to the immersion feeling I get playing on a bigger screen.

    I use a 65" Q70A for gaming on the Xbox Series X. The best mid-range tv I would say and great if you want 120hz but not willing to buy the high-end. The tv is only 5 feet from the couch making it fearly immersive.

    Nice 😎 how do you know if tvs 120hz? Does it tell you in the specs? I don't know what to look for in a tv except "4K UHD SMART TV 65INCH" lol

    @@cookdislander4372 Yes it tells in the specs. And Q70A have a gaming mode where you actually can see how many FPS you have on your screen.

    I switch back and forth . If I’m unwinding after work or on a day off and enjoying a story rpg I’ll hook up to the bigscreen and lean back on the couch. But if it’s time to sit forward and go for killstreaks or capping B it’s the monitors moment

    I might be wrong… but at 2:20 where you say the back of the TV says 120v 60Hz, I’m fairly certain that’s to do with the incoming AC voltage frequency that your country supports, like here in the U.K. we run 240v 50Hz

    i play on a really comfy arm chair with a 49'' uhd 4k hdr tv and a steel series arctis 7p headset (ps5) - i also sit quite close to the screen for a more immersive experience
