Actually I've seen them the only violence was from the police towards the students. Plus there were many Jews who attended the protest speaking out against Israel's actions but of course that isn't mentioned. In fact most of those protesting were Jews themselves. I guess they are considered the wrong kind of Jews. This has been shown on KZread. If you have a look I expect you'll find it.

Admission for Palestinian students is -allegedly barred. In response to this, the student’s original letter of demands, requested Columbia university divest themselves from this joint venture, as the students considered this to be the re-introduction of Jim Crow’ into educational spaces, via the back door, and that these alleged circumstances have become obscured along the way..
