I felt more attached to the characters in saints row one and two. It was down to earth and everything happening felt like it could be real. I’ll never understand why they decided to throw that all away in 3&4 for silly antics and blowing up the earth. How did something so humble end up like that? Shouldn’t have ever taken the direction that started with saints row 3.

I played all the Saints Row games except Gat out of hell. I enjoyed them all to certain degrees, but Saints Row 2 will always be my favorite.

Saints row could’ve done something like mass effect and got there games remastered altogether and filled with dlcs and I bet people would’ve been more excited about that than the reboot

They would have to make the first 2 from scratch as they lost the original files so a remastered version is impossible it would have to be a remake.

this game was WAAAAAY ahead of its time. times when saints row was a simple gangster game and when the story actually meant something.

Man it's so strange hearing Keith David, and Brandon Keener in a game together that's not mass effect... especially when it's saints row and Garrus is out here selling drugs and having a physcotic moment.

Saints Row is one of the few games who manages to be a underrated gem with great writing and a next gen dumpster fire at the same time, it's sad that Gat had a infinitely bigger chance of getting 250 with the statute of limitations than the Volition Inc have of saving the new one. 2 really is a true master piece tho, I still remember when I went to my friends house and he put it on, ''looks like a poor mans gta clone'' was the first words my dumb ass uttered and within 15 minutes the game had me choking on that line harder than a alter boy in the Vatican.

Man, watching other people play this makes me laugh way harder than when I play it myself. Nothing beats the level of sheer chaos found in the original games.

It kinda confusing me how Saints Row (new one) is still getting a lot of good reviews from people. Hell, even 6/10 is being too nice. It seems like peoples standards with games have really gone downhill. Maybe that’s why developers think they can do whatever they want since people eat this shit up.

It's not even about the scores being good, it's all about all major reviewers literally not using at least 50% of their scale. Seriously, go to any major review website and go through all the bad games that came out in the last 5 years, and the majority of their scores will be in the upper 50% of the scale.

Man, I dunno. It's a buggy game, but at the end of the day I think the latest Saints Row is pretty much a standard 6/10 or 5/10. It isn't completely horrible, it just ain't great. Thinking of games I'd consider pure 1/10 or 10/10 is nigh impossible to me. You'd basically need to go to bootleg games or buggy games to the point of being unbeatable for me to start giving out 1/10s nowadays. In general though people have gotten more forgiving about shoddy launch experiences because of the availability of patches and updates to make the game better after the fact. Which is certainly a rather large downside for people who would expect a functioning game on launch.

There’s not a single redeeming thing about the game except the customisation of vehicles but none of them are fun to use and they all sound terrible. The gameplay (its a third person shooter and the gunplay is horrible), the sound, the graphics (looks like a 360 game), the characters, the story, the writing, the dialogue, it’s all horrendous and the game is completely lifeless. On top of all that it’s a buggy, broken mess. The dialogue and the story is the cringiest stuff I’ve ever heard in my life, it’s so bad it’s offensive. It’s written by people who spend 24 hours a day on twitter and Reddit. To top it off it’s just not saints row and what they’ve done to the series with this game is criminal. I wouldn’t even recommend people to pirate it, it’s not worth the space on your hard drive for free.

Two of my favorite bits from the OG Saint's Row was the Freckle Bitch's ads on the radio and the whole "Oh shit, it's the Los Carnales!" thing. Still rewatch from time to time.

This is pure gold, takes me back to the good old days where I would come home from school and play both gta vice city and this game in the same evening

I love this game, seeing him play the start of it makes me want to go back and do some pratfalling, that was their money maker honestly it’s incredible that they’ve doubled down on their manic tweenage shit for so long

In the new game, the final confrontation with the antagonist glitched for me, the big bad t posed and spun his torso 4 or 5 times

All they had to do was go back to SR1 and SR2 and see what made those great and replicate it.

same i started with 2 when it released on the 360. i didnt wrap around and play 1 until more recently and the only thing i have against it is the lack of checkpoints. driving multiple times to the airport just to lose to a random rocket is just annoying.

Saints Row 2006: Immediate run, turn, animations / Characters speak when they should / There's content that can be taken serious / It doesn't appear to be satire / The game actually appears finished, in completed form ready for release, with AI from this side 1995 / The developers probably did not rage at any slightest negative feedback they got / Gameplay, design, content was suitable for a 2006 game. Saints Row 2022: None of the above

This game was so much fun! And the online was hiliarious! Bring back the original saints row!!

That's the thing reboot was missing gang warfare that gave you a challenge & every time You take over territory the more aggressive the rival gang gets

And no one remembers Saints Row: Gat out of Hell where it's Johnny Gat from the previous games but now in hell and here I can basically describe the game in a nutshell. The captain of your creation forced to marry the daughter of Satan himself in a middle of someones birthday while doing the "What is your name?" thing to demons and so Johnny Gat like any normal person would do decides to cause chaos through mini games to fill up a bar to kill Satan...........also out of nowhere Disney song.

Yall bought everything after 3 and thot they were decent cuz yall ain't play the originals first to see that they started making worse games as they went the original fans been telling volition go back to the roots since 3 came out they ignored they supporters now everyone is disappointed in the franchise from new to old fans

When modern games suck big southern eggs, you naturally start looking for entertainment from the golden age of gaming before companies became corporations who mastered the ability to make the same game eleven times over the course of twenty years while tricking their customers into paying double the price for half the work expended.

The thing with Agents of Mayhem is that I can forgive it for a few reasons 1) The majority of the OG Saints Row characters actually come back as playable characters 2) It fits into the franchise's story, as this is supposed to be the remade world Johnny wished for in Gat out of hell, making that ending canon 3) It actually respects the original story and timeline of Saints Row. One good example is Kingpin's backstory. See, Kingpin is actually Pierce Washington, and in this unviverse, instead of the playa taking out all the gangs in Saints Row 1, Pierce actually just pulled up and said "Yo, I got cash, let's all join up under me, and everyone goes home rich", basically making Tanya, Benjamin King, Los Carnales', etc. all work for him, making him the Kingpin of Saints Row. Or how despite being brought back in a new world, all the OG characters retained their old personalities, making it so they didn't just erase these characters, but simply put them in a new situation. It's not exactly Saints Row, but you can tell the soul of the franchise, and respect for it is still there.

What a title. SR1 will forever be my favourite game. I have no idea what Volition were thinking this entire time, but to go from SR1 to their current excuse for a SR title will be their downfall. Deservedly so.

Saints Row 1, 2, and The Third are GOATED.

Saints Row is a classic and I would prefer to play it again for the 4th time than play the new Saints Row.

The first one was an absolute masterpiece and in some ways better than SR2. I replayed it along with SR2 early this year would recommend 100%

The developer was going under and the third one was so popular they thought expanding it into aa full game would save them but because they were starting from a base of it just being an add-on it turned out... the way it turned out.
