Actually the original Mafia was supposed to be released before the GTA 3. But due to some internal struggle/decision it was postponed (since it was same publisher). So it is not even a "clone" of GTA per say.

These two often get compared, but Urban Chaos that beat both of them in release date gets forgotten (It is a terrible game though.) But the original GTA still beats that game too. Terminator beats GTA as a whole. (Although it's more an immersive sim, it still does a lot of the free roam stuff that the GTA series took later.) Mafia and GTA 3 do deservedly get the credit for shaping the genre into what we know it as today though.

That's actually true i remember seeing some old beta pictures on a pc magazine back in the day, this was before GTA3 was released.

The original game was so fucking hard, missions had like one checkpoint at the beginning, a 20 min drving sequence where you had to obey traffic laws and then you got popped in the head by some goon cause they got guns and you got a baseball bat. The game had manual turn signals. They really kept to the source material I even remember some of the city, the woman that wants to go to the church in the beginning, the chase of the yellow car through the country side, which I fucked up like 10 times or so.

Don´t drive while there is red light,don´t ride over people,these were probably the only rules you had to follow,I played it when I was in age of kindergarten,it wasn´t so hard... (good times,Mafia and Return to castle wolfenstein,two great games,although I am not sure I was supposed to play them in age of the first class in school)

I get bored of games extremely quickly. I have to force myself to finish games often. Very rarely, an exceptional game will leave me aching for more. Mafia 2 is the only game I can think of I have played through multiple times to completion, and parts of it STILL get me.

The ending in this game is one that always got me, such a good story 😭

Mafia 1 (especially the remake) has my absolute favourite story and custcenes to any game i have ever played. The scene with Sammy and Tommy during the betreyal is probably my favourite from any game.

RDR2, TLOU 1, Witcher 3, GoW, Metal Gear games, GTA, Detroit Become Human, Uncharted, Tomb Raider, Cod campaigns, Death Stranding, Spiderman, Jedi Fallen Order, Arkham games, Control, Sekiro, RE games have better cutscenes and stories.

I would consider this remake one of the best remakes of 2021 ever made since not only the feeling of the OG story & feeling are there, but modernized it while keeping what made it great back then & small changes like Tommy actually enjoyed a cup of coffee on his taxi break & the hilarious drunk Paulie after winning the race of dark souls, n the build up relationship with sarsh overtime are a nice touch of the og story itself. Wanna play a bad remake game from 2021, that would be X13 n if anyone saw the og, and their "remake" of it you'll understand why it's the wost remake of 2021 in general. Kevin if u see this n play that awful X13 remake, just watch out for the audio clipping bug at the end of that awful game, n I'm sure you'll be lmaoing at every awful moment in that game. Great work on your videos & I'm glad u enjoyed your time with a proper remake like this one

I played and replayed the original Mafia like 10 times when it released. Got it from a friend in school, in like 6th grade. The remakes are so good! Great video :D

You don't understand how advance original Mafia 1 was back in that time. NPC would run out of ammo if you have waited long enough.

Genuinely a very good game. Makes me miss when games released with this quality.

The presentation is very nice but the gameplay is pretty shit. It’s so clunky and enemies are just bullet sponges who don’t react to gunshots. The gameplay really holds it back but I suppose it’s not a full price game and was cheap upon release so that’s understandable

​@@mdjey2I think some people who worked on original also worked on remake, that's for hangar 13. We had Warhorse studios which made kingdom come deliverance and was sold or bought I don't remember. And Arma series is also Czech product. I would love someone to correct me because half of this is from my memory and probably wrong. Also sorry for my poor English.

Enjoyed the game all the way through the end, however fuck that difficulty scale

In the original Mafia, morello's men ran into salier's bar & got gunned down & disposed of

I played Mafia a few months ago to complete completion- I absolutely love the styling and story. one of my absolute favorites!

never heard of this game before, looks really cool! The editing is actually really good in this video too.

This remake was so underrated

I recommend playing through the game on your own time. The story really picks up at a certain point in the game.

For someone like me who only plays car games , Love the driving in this game on sim handling . Very realistic

Can't agree, the bullshit you can pull with those cars even on simulation is just astounding. IRL, you'd crash almost immediately due to the speeds, shitty over and understeering, and just the plain lack of grip these cars had. You'd drift very easily and lose control of the car if you tried all that irl. I like it the way it is in-game, of course, just pointing out it's hardly realistic.

I nearly lost my mind my during the race on my first playthrough.

Mafia is such a good series, the 3rd one isn’t as good as the 1st or 2nd, but its worth playing as well

You could have also punctured that yellow car's tyre before saving sam. That would result in decisive shootout saving car chase time

Make this a full series please, this game is awesome so seeing you go through it is great

Mafia 2 will always be my favorite. I played the demo for hours until I finally was able to convince my parents to buy me the full game.

I absolutely loved Mafia: Definitive Edition. Undoubtedly the best Italian mobster game out there

In the original, apart from the race itself which was designed to separate boys from men, Fairplay was such a pain, cause you could not damage the car at all.

This game is so damn good. You can tell they truly cared for this game just look at how beautiful it is. Then look at Rockstars remaster….Speaks volumes? Thats an understatement.

I bought this game just now and I'm not gonna lie it was purely because of this video

What a remake, incredible! I enjoyed it so much. It felt like a new game while it kept so much of the original

theres alot of reasons why i love this game: 1) its free roam 2) when your driving you can toggle legal driving to not get speeding tickets 3) when your driving you can see how fast you are going 4) it has a perfect story 5) its racing mission isn’t really annoying with the other racers being 1000x better than you 6)i love how the game lets you build bonds with the characters like you respect them and stuff 7) they don’t throw thousands of plot twists

I love the characters in this game, Tommy and Paulie in the second cutscene has my heart.

My favorite game of 2020. Outside the towns it can look kinda rough, but over all it’s a beautiful remake.

I always love Kev's video's his humor is 100% on dial with my own so he always cracks me up keep doing what you do

I'm assuming you probably finished the game or at least already did the race, but I also played the game on Classic, just because it felt right since I also played the original release. The Race felt 10x harder in this Remake for me, but I found the best way was to use the... I guess boost/ram around every corner and it was way easier.

I feel so much better seeing you struggle on the race like I did, cause I've grown up playing every racing game ever and was pretty annoyed with this mission and how the cars handled, seeing it's not just me makes me feel better 😂

I played that racing mission back in the day. That was the Dark Souls of racing missions, literally almost made me break my Compaq Presario into pieces. Those were the days!

Such a beautiful game with a stunning story, played it through several times now.

In the beginning, when Tommy and detective Norman have a chat, Norman saying he caught his teeth in Empire bay is a reference to the second title - Mafia II. Should play that too man, great successor to original Mafia.

Greetings from czech republic. When I was like 8 years old I got my hands on the Mafia 2 and even now it's still one of my favorite games. Sadly I never was able to play the very first Mafia but I saw lots of videos from it. Since I wasn't able to play the first Mafia I was glad they made a remake and offcorse I had to play it on the OG difficulty. I must say that race is still a pain in my a*s. Can't say Mafia 3 was a good game because I see it as a BS. I am so proud at my country for creating such a masterpiece games (not counting 3rd because that wasn't even from czech).

I had like 4 playthroughs of the game, only one on the remake.. my ocd cousin has had 100s. Legit one of the best games ever that doesn't get enough love.

In the original they had first aid boxes on every combat level. You pretty quickly learned to spot them if you got hit.

So that guy in Diamond City (Fallout 4) was right all along. That is how baseball was played, beating the other team to death. As an Australian I had no idea it was played that way.

On the original version back in a day on a mission to chase that yellow car i used to shoot the tyres out before you go in the building so whenever it comes to a chase part the guy barely moves 😀😀

i struggled playing mafia on mormal and i think i am ready for classic now lol

I just played and beat Mafia and Mafia 2 a few weeks ago. I thought they were both great games to play and I highly recommend them if you're looking for fun action stories involving the mob. I tried Mafia 3, but I ended up uninstalling it after 5 hours because of how bad the game lagged, and I got tired of dealing with the constant crashes. Anyway, out of all of the missions I played, the race from the first game was the one that had me reload the most times. XD
