    It’s an extemely underrated game that actually gave a try to not be the same as the other games but tried to give an entire new twist to the story. It’s got a lovely world design with two very relatable and realistic protagonists, there’s fun side content and mini games such as kickboxing and street races, it has a cool story (bit chaotic at times, though) with a happy ending, perfect stealth gameplay… I really don’t understand why Syndicate is disliked so much. All I read when people say they dislike this game is because the grappling hook is unrealistic. Fortunately AC was never meant to be realistic at all. Another complaint I see is combat felt clunky… well, it may be, but definitely not as much as people make it out to be. In my opinion this is easily the most fun game to play even after having finished the main story. I feel to see why other people disagree with this, their choice I guess. At least know what you’re missing out on. 😉

    Syndicate is heavily underrated and people hate on Jacob waaaaaaaay too much. People tended to call him stupid when in reality he was just reckless and was actually intuitive when he tried (just look at how he handles Maxwell Roth, he couldn't have planned for the fire but he did an amazing job at dealing with the decoys and getting Roth too). Also, an idiot couldn't have been a major reason as to why the Assassins reformed in London whilst Evie and Greenie was away. Plus people hate on his jokes, when the vast majority were more akin to victorian jokes (as the game is based in 1868) and not jokes of our standards

    @@darthnox125 yes, that was the first assassins creed. Before the modern assassins creeds came out. Take AC origins for example. If you find and complete all of the star alignments and go to the Sphinx monument, there’s a secret entrance around the back of it. Go there, follow the path long enough and if you have 50 silicon then the game will give you the Isu outfit. And in AC Valhalla for another instance, you can pull Excalibur from the stone and guess what? That’s also Isu technology. AC Syndicate, which is the game that we were talking about, has Isu technology in the form of Evies secret outfit. Which means that my argument would have been invalid in the 2000s, but as the series developed it became less and less accurate

    Same here. I went in with pretty low expectations, especially after Unity and with the fact that Quebec studio was responsible for this game and not Montreal one. And quite surprisingly, I genuinely started to like it, game was definitely more fun than Unity and before I knew it, I got 100% and Platinum, too. And it wasn't even all that hard, don't even remember having to reload any particular mission several times for that full sync. Sure, the story, characters and animations are BS, but otherwise a surprisingly satisfactory experience. The WW1 segment after main story was a pretty good (and atmospheric) bonus, too. As for the DLC, meh. Last Maharaja was very glitchy and kinda boring, Jack the Ripper wasn't much better, either. I did them mostly for 100% and a Platinum, rather than genuine enjoyment. Still, a pretty decent game. Definitely recommend getting it on sale for everyone who was putting it off. Oh, and the system requirements are a tad lower than Unity, too.

It was Jacob's assassination of the omnibus-driver that almost crashed the transportation business. It was Jacob's assassination in the bank that led to inflation and an almost-riot over the failing economy. He *had* to do all of that for the sake of the Assassins, I know, but it would have been nice if he took responsibility in the meantime. It sucked that Evie had to clean up after all his stuff and she was clearly the side character still. THANKFULLY he does end up maturing and learns from his mistakes, especially in the Jack the Ripper DLC iirc. But in the first half of the game he's really just infuriating

    I always wanted a prequel for it featuring Jacob & Evie's father, Ethan. Could be set in India right after the twins are born, which would also mean featuring Henry Green's father & seeing Henry as a little boy. Of course, would be nice to see more of George Westhouse :-)

    This game is my favorite out of the entire series. Is it a massively flawed game, yes. Would I recommend it to anyone, no. But does that Mean that I like it any less, also no. It's just so disappointing that this game came out in the state it did, and that most of Ubisoft's output is somehow reducing in quality. So, here's to the games that we all think are pretty cool, regardless of how bad we know they actually are!

    The problem is the hook for me, it makes climebing useless. Why climb when i can hook. It also limits parkour due to "spacing", its not possible to leap from building to build like the other ac games. Since they are desinged with the hook inmind. This slows down the gameplay and makes it akward.

    I don't think the game itself is bad. It's the story and characters that feel entirely weightless. There are no arcs, no themes, no interesting revenge plots. Just an angry James bond villain and two annoying protagonists that add nothing to the story.

  • @chrismoore5333

    Evie hurt the game to be honest. And Jacob being bisexual was actually used for narrative, rather then token representation which is cool. But evie was just token femenist dribble. And she got in the way of Jacob's story and ultimately his game. She also hurt LGBT male representation, which is really bad. So really, syndicate would do well to be remade without evie as a playable protagonist, and focus more on Jacob and his character growth. (I'm aware of the sarcasm and hate for this game aswell. But still.)

  • @unicorntomboy9736

    I wish they could have explored Jacobs sexuality further and greatly expanded that aspect of his character arc, but sadly Ubisoft didn't do that, which is unfortunate. We have never had a canonical LGBTQ Assassin protagonist before in the series (or since really) which would have made this game unique and compelling. I get the impression that early in development the writers just wanted Jacob as the sole protagonist, but we're forced to include Evie for some unknown reason

  • @chrismoore5333

    @chrismoore5333

    @@unicorntomboy9736 your exactly right mate! I've done a lot of research into syndicate development. And it is true with evidence online, that Jacob was the only protagonist of syndicate. Evie was actually the character who gave Jacob his targets and she had a black and red version of Lydia's outfit, and she had a burned face with a silver mask over it. Ubisoft insisted a female protagonist was added along side Jacob, as unity backlash for only having male co-op assassin's, scared Ubisoft into adding evie into syndicate. It also seems that Evie was going to betrau Jacob at the end, and that she wanted the shroud for herself. A few reasons why this seems to be the case. One is that evie is shown in concept art for world war 1, in the same outfit as she has in the leaked 1800s evie design, from early development. You can even find that on the current box art for the game, evie is still wearing the same necklace as lydia, and lydia uses Henry's weapon of choice, even tho lydia never met Henry... the second reason, is that watch dogs legion is a near future, remake of early plans for syndicate in many ways. One such way is the story. Sabine (who is the replacement of evie) wants the player (who of course replaces Jacob) to gain code from something called "daybreak" which is basically immortality, just like the shroud. Sabine also uses the player to kill key targets that would prevent her plans. At the end of the game, sabine reveals that she used us, and that while she cared about her team of operatives, she ultimately cared more for her goals. The final reason is that syndicate was copying AC1. Evie being the "new version" of the mentor from the first game. As for Jacob being lgbt, I do wish they went into it more. Because ubisoft have basically been gatekeeping against lgbt male fans in the new games, by insisting that only the female leads are "canon" which is a stunt they've pulled with immortals of all games aswell. Jacob is a character that's always misunderstood because of the fact some don't understand how much Jacob being lgbt means, given that his time era discriminated against lgbt men, extremely harshly. I hope ubisoft one day remake syndicate souly about Jacob, and focuse more on his position in society as an lgbt man in victorian society. But honestly I doubt ubisoft will make a game that isn't hyper focused on getting positive feedback from angry feminism.

    @@chrismoore5333 I was going to add that they could have used the setting of 1800s London (at a time when being LGBTQ was criminalised btw) to generate meaningful and compelling external and internal conflict with the protagonist. Maybe have him and Maxwell Roth (who was implied to be gay) actually develop a relationship and navigate it in this setting. It could have been a compelling parallel with Arno and Elise's love story in AC Unity. Overall, I think that Jacob Frye was a missed opportunity as a character. They could have done more with him than they did. Instead he was made too paper-thin and just the guy who makes jokes all the time and essentially be a bad parody of Ezio and Arno. If I were to remake this story in the form of a tv series, this is what I would do. The medium of television would make this sort of representation far easier than in a video game, in my opinion

  • @chrismoore5333

    @@unicorntomboy9736 as a gay man myself, I don't think he was made paper thin, as what he goes though with Roth is very accurate to the times, and his personality being so loud and in your face, is very typical of gay men who are hiding that about themselves even today. Of all the gay men I know, who also love assassin's creed, Jacob is considered by them, to be accurate in portrayal and actually has alpt of depth to his character. But that isn't something most people will get, as its more shown rather than told. And it is subtle in delivery. One example would be the otherwise awful ending of the game. Jacob has seen the damage his quest for freedom as a bisexual man, has done. He has seen that the world isn't evil, its just not ready for changes that he wants. So as a man who now embraced the assassins creed, and who has traded his life's freedom for a life of giving freedom to others who can have that freedom without consequence, Jacob stands alone. Evie has Henry. She has her goals all completed. Jacob has nothing but what he arrived with. And that's an subtle moment, bit a very good one when put into context. You've got to remember that one of the main writers for the game also did writing for AC3. Both games are subtle and very in depth, to an extent that most players miss it all, and think Connor and Jacob are shallow. Perhaps it's a failing on the writers part, to not show these things more clearly. Regardless, I agree with you that the game should've delved more into Roth and Jacobs struggle in the ignorance of victorian society. But it is still an important theme in Jacobs story, and leads to the only reason he changes for the better as an assassin. In effect, Jacob is afaird of becoming Roth. Of you are interested, there's alot of early development leaked of syndicate, that are really cool aswell! I do recommend looking into it. That said, be aware that there is a group of misandrists at ubisoft right now, who have made false claims about several games... syndicate among them. However, if you do find the leaks, you'll quickly see that those liers at ubisoft are making false claims. Fortunately for us fans, some at ubisoft are willing to leak the truth, rather then allow the lie to spread.

    @@chrismoore5333 Wow, I never thought of it that way before. I guess when I said Jacob was paper-thin, I meant that in comparison to Arno Dorian in AC Unity, who displays his character development in a more obvious way, as well as his depiction of his struggles with depression and alcoholism, which I personally relate to a lot, since I struggled with bad depression like Arno did. I still stand by what I said above Jacob coming across as a parody of Ezio, because the execution of his dialogue, again, does come across that way to me, whever it was intentional or not on the writer's part. Overall I just think Jacob's characterisation could have been executed better in my opinion. I agree with everything you said though. I am a rookie writer in college myself right now, and I wish I could turn this story into a TV series one day, since it has potential to be great and be better than what we got
