Excellent video! I use the Merkur Futur usually on setting 3. I have African American skin and this setting is very comfortable but the max setting for me, though I've tried setting 6 under the nostrils then back to setting 3 overall. No razor bumps. No razor burn. No problems.

If razor aggressiveness is only about that gap size, then this video explains it well.

Gap size is only one factor. In fact, two of the most aggressive d.e. razors I have used have very small gaps - the Muhle R-41 and the Ikon shavecraft tech. Other factors determining aggressiveness are blade exposure and the geometry of the top cap and base plate.

Coming from straight razors, I am struggling to feel the difference between "mild" and "aggressive". Safety razors all feel the same to me and have never had cuts or nicks after a few months of using them. After doing some research went out and specifically bought one of each as well...

What does mild and aggressive mean? Also which setting would give you the closest shave?

Thanks for the video! I just ordered the VIKINGS BLADE The Godfather Double Edge Safety Razor (Gentle & Mild) from Amazon. I also ordered the Vikings Blade Mild & Safe DE Safety Blades. I am prone to ingrown hairs (pseudofolliculitis) so I hope the extra mild Vikings Blade Godfather with mild blades will be acceptable to my sensitive skin and follicles. Also, proper skin and acne care and pre-shave and post-shave treatment are vital.

My blade is practically touching the safety bump thing, And it's so close it's just not shaving me. Wtf do I do? Edit: NVM I had my safety guard assembled upside down

The blade gap for the Merkur Futur (supposedly) ranges from 1.12mm (Level 1) to 1.65mm (Level 6). It's possible to extend the blade gap another 6 levels for 12 settings (if you wish (or dare)). Here's how -- /watch?v=T_MfTRZYp00&t=10m0s I assume the blade gap at setting '12' would be 2.18mm.

Can you add a link to the Safety Razor being shown in this video. The current Safety razor link depicts a different razor.
