On the Rex Ambassador, the way that I screw the handle back on so that threads are not stripped is, I apply light pressure to the screw assembly while simultaneously turning the screw backwards (counter clockwise) until I hear and feel a click, then I turn forward( clockwise) and it catches immediately, no guessing. Works every time.

Got a 1964 (my birthyear) Fatboy from my Grandma that's never been outclassed by any razor I tried the last 40+ years. I was heartbroken that it wasn't adjustable any more after me Idiot had lubricated it with WD 40 over the top. The ring won't click anymore. Well, I thought maybe there was somenone on Ebay using the standard adjustment anyway and put the razor in a bath of denture cleanser to get it fairly clean. This removed the excessive oil and the Razor is functioning completely normal again. What a relief!

Executive shaving here in the UK have just received the new Ambassador. I'm not sure about it as yet. I do own the Envoy. I am loving my Razorocks at the moment and have just ordered a Lupo duo comb. Thanks for the heads-up their website says the stainless are made in USA - I’m contacting them because if they are made in China (the stainless ones), I’m returning them :-) Getrochwell website says: Where are your blades and razors manufactured? We manufacture the Rockwell 2C, the 6C, and the blades in our dedicated facility in China, while the Rockwell 6S is made in the USA. And the Model T has parts made in China and the US and is assembled in Canada.

Started with a Rockwell 6c. It gave an ok shave but I found the plate system to be very slow and cumbersome especially if you want to use different agressiveness for each type of pass. Then I found vintage Gillette adjustables. TTO are easy to load, easy to adjust and in MHO the nickle finish is so much classier then chrome. The only disadvantage is that you will probably end up buying both a Fatboy anda Slim as both are so great.

Hi Sir, My favourite Razor is my Gillette Slim Adjustable from 1968 which i bought online from an American seller for about £45 a few years ago. It's still like new. I drop Mineral Oil into it from time to time to keep it good. Just a beautiful shave from this one. I have the Progress Long too but it just doesn't cut it for me. The Gillette is very light and beautifully made. For me it's the best Razor Ever. Cheers, Stevie in Scotland.

I'm kind of a safety razor collector myself and I ve tried all the different safety razors Temu has to offer in Greece :D the wannabe Gillette adjustable and the wannabe merkur futur are really really good for my liking and they really made me understand the difference between cheap safety razors (1.40€) and more expensive ones (10€). Still cheap for what's available from an actual brand but a very good demonstration that price does play a role. But I am glad I was able to make a collection of 6 safety razors for less than 30€ lol It also made shaving something that I am looking forward to because up until then I used to like leaving a bit of a beard and I used to just trim it

I find it so overwhelming trying to buy a safety razor. There are just too many choices. I was initially pretty set on the timeless Murkur 34C, but now I'm thinking I might prefer a more durable stainless steel razor like the Rockwell 6S. As a newbie to DE shaving, I'm not sure if I should buy an adjustable razor or just stick with a fixed gap/blade exposure razor, like the 34C. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hey, Geo! I´d really appreciate if you made a comparison shave video between the Merkur Futur and the Merkur Progress. I own a Futur and find it too aggressive; I wonder whether the Progress would make a better daily use shaver. You could shave one side of the face with the Futur and the other with the Progress, and show viewers the difference in smoothness and feel!

But then I read about it having quality control issues, so in the end I went with the Progress. Just had my first shave with it and I am very happy with it. It replaced a DE89 which broke.

Hi I like to shave while taking a shower . Which one would be best for keeping in the shower ? Does any one make a stainless steel blade that won’t rust if you leave it in the razor ? I have been using the cheap Bic blue double blade disposable razor and it last me a good month before it starts to get dull and it doesn’t rust at all and I leave it right in the shower . I’m I better off just sticking with the double bladed disposable or would the single blade and adjustable razor be the way to go ? Does anyone make a stainless steel or aluminum razor so I don’t have to worry about using it in the shower ? With the adjustable razor should you take the blade out every time you are finished ? What is recommended steps you should do either the adjustable razor when you are finished ?

Try to use as little pressure as possible and let the razor do the work, and only apply small amounts of pressure as you get used to the razor. If you had a Merkur Progress/Parker Variant adjustable safety razor, their '1' setting is very mild and great for beginners. Adjustable razors may be a better option for beginners as your beard growth may require a safety razor more aggressive than the shave a Edwin Jagger DE89 or Merkur 34C HD can provide -- and lessen the need for buying other razors. The value of your razor usually depends upon how desirable it is (if it has been discontinued), the availability of your razor in used markets, the quality of materials used in your razor (stainless steel and titanium are usually preferred) -- and if other cheaper models on the market already copy your razor's head design (like is seen with the much copied Edwin Jagger DE89/Mühle R89 head design).
