@green9227 I can understand that. I personally feel that I am kind of throwing money away when I am buying a phone. Since it will only lose on value , and it's better to invest that money into something else. I still have my s21ultra and will buy a new phone when I stop getting software support.

Exactly most people want the latest and greatest, I'm all about getting the best bang for buck. My only thought about getting a $1200 is if you game hard on your phone.

I used to have an A71 (4G). When my Pixel 6 Pro broke, I tried to fire it up again, but without any luck. I liked the A range and you are spot on that it would suit nearly everyone out there. There is no need to spend $1k on a phone for most people. The idea that you have to have the flagship, even when you can't really afford to, is a sad indictment of today's overly materialistic society

Absolutely. I bought a Pixel 6a recently for a change from iPhones and Samsung's. Its a great device for the price, with lots of handy Googly features that you don't get elsewhere. Good sharp natural looking OLED display, good speaker stereo audio and the camera and portrait stills are fantastic.

I just purchased the A54 as a second phone to my Fold4. I've been debating having a backup phone for years now and I think I just found the perfect phone for me. This phone can easily be a main or secondary phone for anyone!

I got the S23 ultra through a great deal on Goolge Fi , however I realized it's way beyond what I need for my day to day phone usage. I recently got the A54 and I really like it , it's perfect for my use. Will part ways with the S23 Ultra, it's a great phone but don't need a flagship.

Love my S21 but just grabbed the A54 And was pleasantly surprised!! Most people get the high end phones just to say they got it And don't even use the high end features.. like me I use my phone for basic use only calls, texts, browse social media KZread and take pix... Best part is you can expand the storage up to 1tb!!!

I use an A34 5G for watching sport and TV and it's a very good device. 120hz refresh, excellent speaker audio and super Amoled display.

Thank you so much for this video. last night I was going to buy the ultra s23 and I just felt sick to think about spending that much money (fyi: my current phone is an old S7) sure I want the newest and greatest but yet your video made me realize that I am just a normal user and I don't need all the newest features. Thank you for saving me a bunch of money. I am definitely going to order the A54 !!!

If you want longevity for like 4 to 7 years without rebuying a phone or upgrading go flagship...if you want to have to upgrade every 2 years to keep up with the johnsons or deal with your mid range device diminishing compared to everything including software updates..go for it...but you will have to upgrade every 2 years just keep up with the 400$ to 600$ budget phones that came out in that 1 year.

was about to buy A73 then this A54 coming out & after purchasing it im so grateful that samsung made this phone

I'm 60 yrs old and I'm tech savvy enough to install and run linux on my laptop. That said, as far as games go I just play solitaire now and then or a simple sniper game. I do take pictures of my nature walks but i just share them on social media. Anyway for now the A14 works for me. The MicroSD capability was definitely a major selling point for me.

Great review tech odyssey. How is thr display compared to the s23 or s24? In terms of quality, is the oled as good? Im worried the oled they made on this phone is cheap.

Great video, the A54 for most people is a good phone. I agree with you most people don't need a S23 U but they are persuaded by sales people (and get in more debt) or their peers. And how many actually use the capabilities of the 23 U? It's sad how materialistic we have become. Thank you!

I think it's about time all mid tier phones had a tele lens of sorts, at the very least 2x zoom. I'm still rocking a Nokia 7 Plus from 2018, and that's got a 2x optical zoom. Doesn't have an ultra wide, though, so I guess something's gotta give.

The only thing making me hesitant from buying the S22 series is the battery life and overheating problems of the 8 Gen 1.

As of early 2024 you can buy an A54 for about 1/3 the price of the cheapest iPhone 15. Photos from the A54 are awesome. Screen brightness is excellent. Night mode photos in dimly lit museums etc are amazing. Sure, if I'd just won the lottery the S23 Ultra or iPhone 15 Pro Max would have been chosen but the A54 is pretty darned near perfect for me.

Going from an s series to an a series prolly will feel like shit , but as someone who used the a1X Series , the a54 feels really good n smooth. It does heat up sometimes for no apparent reason tho . It kinda has some flagship phone stuff but not in a pro level perspective

I think mid range phones should be good for 90% of people, I think these $1000+ phones are being bought more often cause people don't their research and just get the best in the phone carrier stores. My only reason to get an expensive phone if you game heavy on your phone. I try not to spend more than $500 on a phone.

I've tried out the Galaxy A52 5g and it's not the same, but I prefer the round corners of the straight screen than dual edge screens on the Note 20 Ultra 5g. The S23 plus vs A54 5g would have been a better comparison within this scenario. Technically I would go for the S23 plus 5g at a discounted price and keep it for 5 years!

Samsung needs an entry level phone with S-pen support! And ît doesn't have to be huge either :)

A better comparison would be against the S21.. so for people looking to replace is the A54 2023 better than S series of 2021 or would it feel like a down grade

I'm thinking about replacing my Tracfone flipfone with the A54. I can't get the 256 GB model because they don't support Verizon. I'll have to get a 128 GB model that supports CDMA. I'd rather get an unlocked phone but I may be steered into a locked Tracfone model that's $75-$150 off. Maybe I can wait 6 weeks and see if there's any big sales coming up like Columbus Day or Black Friday.

Pixel 6a,s21fe( less software support)may also be good options,here at my place s21fe is same or less prices than a54,with exynos

Have a s23 ultra and my screen got damaged beyond repair so while I was waiting for a replacement in the mail I bought an a54 and that device is more than enough for most people. It's is 85% of the phone the s23 ultra is. Battery, screen size, screen quality(not a super huge difference), processor power when multitasking, dex and s pen are the main features missing. If you can deal without those save yourself hundreds and get the a54

It's $375 right now which I think is priced pretty well.

When I moved from my Blackberry Key 2 😪I researched the market and your videos and reviews were a big help in making my decision. I think when ever you make a purchase you set certain criteria - be it food, clothes, white goods, cars etc etc etc. We either have an idea in our mind of what quality/specification/price/value for money and so on or we make a list of the things that are important to us. Went for the Samsung A53 and have had it now for a year and it does everything I need, works great, looks good and is perfect. I could afford an S22 at the time but there was nothing it gave me that the A53 didn't - so it would simply have been a vanity purchase!!! Having listened to your video its almost now as if the Flagship phones are more camera than phone? And as you say, if thats important then its the one for you - lets be honest good quality digital cameras are not cheap either!!!

My Key2 died suddenly three days ago. Took it in to get a new battery to hopefully restore what was on it. I had it in my head to replace it with an S23 Ultra. The price tag made me choke. Then someone showed me an A54. It's one quarter of the price. Might just settle for that one as it's half the price of the Key2. Thank you for your comments.

I got a good deal on an A54 by switching carriers. It was basically free because I switched, and my bill went down a little too. I had to sign on for two years, but that's no problem. So far I really like it over the old Stylo I had been using. I was careless and never put a protector on the old phone and ended up breaking the glass. That's what prompted me to look for a new phone. Now I'm glad I broke the glass on my old phone. I'm impressed by the A54's features.

I got the flagship because they generally last longer and perform well for many years.

The s23 is really nice, but I figured since most of the advantages it has are stuff I do mostly do on other devices, like my desktop PC or Laptop, the a54 would just be a better purchase. Been really happy with it so far and no issues with the performance, plus I got to slap the SD card I previously had into it and have a lot of storage for cheap.

i got a deal traded in my s9 went to 5goplus and they gave me a 1200$phone for 400 unbeatable if u get that deal get the ultra only thing im disappointed with is what u get in the box which is literally the phone and a usb c to c u have to buy the block yourself which if you want to utilize your phone to max charging u want the 45w which was like 50 bucks outrageous

I like the wider screen on the A54, the S21fe screen is narrow.

The main issue with the A54 is the build quality A plastic frame just doesn't cut it for me . Also, i don't get why they don't use something like a SD 7 Gen1 or even the 778+ like de A52s

I've upgraded from mi 11 lite 4G to s23 ultra

I buy phones under $500. I've never so far needed to buy a phone close to 1k or more. The current phone I have is the Moto G Stylus 5G 2023. I got it for $249 on a November holiday sale. It's not powerful, doesn't have the best cameras, only gets one free OS update and three years of security patches, but for $249 when it normally retails for $400, I didn't lose sleep over it. I'm happy with my phone.

If Samsung can get a 5000 milliamp battery in the A54, why not the regular s23 or s23 plus.

I treated my Galaxy S20 plus and got $400 towards My 1 + 9 brand new from T-Mobile practically made the phone for free With the 65 what warp charging I love it it does everything and better than my S21 does, Too bad one plus pulled their phones from carriers

Midrange phone will be good enough for a great amount of customers.

That's like comparing potato's and apples. Which ones taste better

The s23 is on a higher level and the best I have used

But I'll use a case no matter what so my phone won't get ruined hopefully

I bought the s23 ultra and returned it 3 times because I too also felt sick to my stomach spending that much money, today the A55 was launched in South Africa and I managed to order mine online for a 3rd of the price, time to take a step back, because I’m one of those people who had NO BUSINESS owning a flagship (Just yet)

The thing with status symbols is, if they do not match your job, smart people will think you are broke because you spent all your money on status symbols. And they will probably be right. If you want to impress your boss, do not bother with the flagship. He knows your status.

All's I know is I've got an S23 and an S23 Ultra. It's hard to put the Ultra down even though that S23 is way more pocket friendly. I can't get over the quality of this screen! I'll suffer for it.

Expendable storage and headphone jack are not really needed by most and are obsolete in my opinion now so I don't really factor those in on my decision for phones anymore and probably never will but everything else I would factor in.
