love the content. love your area (I'm from exit 407). I know I'm probably strange but wood and wealth are the same thing to me. Love to watch a sawmill. Love the smell of fresh sawn wood. Love to watch things being created out of whats on hand. Love cooking over a fire. you got it all.

For Posin Ivy use Zanfel found at Wal-Mart, CVS, etc. Use exactly as directed and it works great

You had better install Joist hangers and other metal in the corners.

How long will those logs last in the ground? Did you oil them? What type of tree? I’ve done this with white pines but I used diesel/motor oil mix after charring. They haven’t been in the ground that long so not sure how long they will last. Cool setup you got, similar to mine.

Hey! Depends on the structure we’ve built. Not that the same treatment shouldn’t get done to all, but in the interest of time and such sometimes they have gotten burnt only and then concrete around them. Our sawmill structure was burnt and then we put a layer of tar and then it was concreted in. I know some folks who would rather do it the right way the first time, and I also agree… but when you are only 1 person or have limited help, and you’re trying to get some things going… ya just gotta build it and keep moving. But it all depends upon what you’re trying to do and what you have to work with. Thanks for stopping in I believe we may have used Cedar, but I’ll ask my dad to make sure. -Patrick
