S1 EP3 | HOW TO : Carve a Wooden Mallet & 4' extension for Norwood sawmill
Фильм және анимация
#woodworking #diy #howto
This week I show you how to whittle out a basic mallet from a piece of wood. I also go over a small sawmill attachment that I just purchased for cutting 16ft logs, and I cut some mortises on the posts for the cabin.

Really like that mallet, I will look for me a piece of dogwood, they don't grow that big here, the vice is nice, as always REMEMBER JESUS LOVE'S YOU 🙏🙏🙏.
Woodglut is a good solution for every woodworker.
Richard, use a piece of leather to cover your item while in the teeth of the vice grip. Saw that in a series I watch from an Asian guy....whom I cannot pronounce his name. I have watched most if your videos...just now seeing this one....i don't think Jennifer has come made that pot pie yet and peach cobbler...would love to see that too. God Bless....thanks for providing great entertainment!

I WILL ASK HER TO DO THAT ON THE NEXT RECIPE VIDEO.
Wondering why you are squaring the corners in the mortises when rounding the corners of the tenon would be easier? I mean your not really being an "old school" timber framer and doing everything by hand, which is OK with me, just curious.

I tried that and it became easier to square everything for me. Everyone has a way of doing things. It also added surface area in the joint.
brings up an old memory. My X-father in law made a mallet once and he was a REAL old fashion country boy. He soaked his mallet in a spring fed bucket for months. I dont know why because the divorce occurred and i never had contact again. I wondered why the wood didnt soften and fall apart but it didnt and maybe that is how they used to stop the splitting. What do you think?

NOT REALLY SURE EITHER ON THE MALLET. WHAT I HAVE READ DIDNT MENTION WATER BUT OIL STATING IT CAUSED THE WOOD TO ABSORB MORE IN FILLING ALL THE LUMENS, AND GVE IT WEIGHT BEFORE SEALING IT WITH SOMETHING. MAYBE THATS WHY.

@@SmokyMountainOutpost he was such a 19th century person. Plowed with a mule, salted hams, had sour kraut making in a crock in the closet. I know some of that is done today but he took it to an art form. Just wondered if you or anyone else had heard of that. He did do one stupid thing. He dug out from under the barn where his horses stood to fertalize his garden.... well he did it too much and the barn collapsed ...
your a dandy father
