James , it's hard to hear Ruby say it. I was watching another commentary that mentioned it and after that I went back and turned on the subtitles for that scene. It is there. There is another scene with the same type of thing happening in volume two. I won't say it Gere, but watch the last episode of volume 2 with the subtitles on. The line is a Nora line.

Roman Torchwick has the suave moves and the charming personality. He is definitely the best type of villain who isn't afraid to get their hands dirty but is a gentleman the entire time. He's the best at what he does.

Honestly, Penny could be a horror film monster/killer. She is absolutely unstoppable, can appear out of nowhere, and can be somewhat unsettling in her behaviour; of course in RWBY, it is all played for laughs, but imagine the possibilities! Also, this chapter probably had the most stupid line from Weiss: "The innocent never run." Those who were falsely accused do.

@ 20:30 you asked what was that? That was the mono-filament wires from Penny's backpack that allowed her to control the swords. As far as we know, Penny has yet to use her semblance or aura. We do not know her "powers" are yet.

Okay just to clear up a couple of things for you that have already been presented (no spoilers). Penny's swords are attached to her backpack with thin cables, that's how she pulled herself backwards by anchoring the swords in the wall, and pulled down the airship by anchoring the swords in it. They basically "Fly by Wire". The White Fang is a blatant homage to the Black Panthers (The eventually violent activist group, not the marvel superhero). So this is kind of like if a group of Black Panthers were working with an Italian Mobster, not something you would expect to see.

Pretty much all the major people's semblance's get explained eventually, so don't worry about not knowing what someone's is early on. You see most of them before they are explained so it's natural to go, "What was THAT?"

A soundtrack reaction for each volume would be awesome! Especially as volumes get more intense as the songs can really dig into characters feelings, backstory and character development. Great reaction as always!

Great reactions so far, I love how much you genuinely enjoy and are invested in the show. Some things I wanted to point out; 1) this episode shows even more that nearly every weapon (except for Jaune's) is also a gun, including Sun's Staff/ Nunchucks and Penny's swords. Gunchucks and Laser Swords FTW! 2) Roman and the White Fang both work for Cinder (won't say more to avoid spoilers). 3) The elemental powers you see mostly come from dust. There's a series of short informational videos coming next volume and onward called World of Remanent that explain a lot of things about the world. The short version for dust is there are many dust types. Dust can be used in a variety of ways. The differences you see in how it's used are based on training and personal preference. 4) Each Volume gets progressively better in terms of animation quality. Next volume not only has better animation but story wise has faster pacing, since everything has been set up already.

I am SO early and SO excited to see another video of pure perfection from this awesome channel.

Well, the dust mostly comes in varieties associated with "elements" plus a few. Weiss's power isn't ice (her's is the "Glyphs," which are kind of hard to explain); ice is just her preferred type of dust to use. Most people think the lady at the end has fire powers, but A) she's does stuff later that looks like she'd need a different power to do and B) it seems heavily implied later on that fire type (or "Burn") dust is woven into her clothes; therefore I think that she likes to use fire dust.

Glad you finished volume 1. Great job and keep it up.

in the credits, it says that the name of the mystery woman talking to Roman at the very bottom of the list of cast, and said name is Cinder.

Penny's weapon is a mechanism that uses wires, swords, and energy blasts.

Love your reactions, also when you finish volume 4 you won't have to wait as long for volume 5 it comes out in october

As mentioned in the Fall Forest episode, they all have aura's which is like a force field protecting them from harm, and Semblances which is a manifestation of their aura (a power unique to them.) Like with Pyrrha and her polarity, Weiss and her Glyphs, they also mentioned Ruby's speed. You'll see more of the rest later. So they have personal powers as well as weapons that can use Dust which gives elemental effects to their attacks.

As always, your giddiness at each episode makes me remember my first time with this series. I should thank you for the sense of nostalgia, I suppose. In any case, you'll soon see this show really break out of it's shell! Now, I shan't bog you down with repetitious details like 'remember the narrator in episode 1' or 'Faunus can have Semblances;' instead, I'll say please keep watching and keep moving forward with your honest thoughts and feelings about RWBY. Also, when it comes to Volume 1's soundtrack, Red Like Roses Pt. 2 has always been a favorite of mine due to it's emotional lyrical content...and 'cause it's hard rock. Molllyyy this is just the order that the original RWBY fans from like 2 yrs ago had to watch it in. I myself didn't even know they were important until after I binge watched the show last year😅. What episodes you watch them with isn't necessarily important, so long as you watch them sometime during this Volume.

I'd personally say go with this order as opposed to watching them before the volume, since the timing works better (there's some stuff in some WoRs that is an expansion on stuff revealed in the show, so watching them after helps keep the timing of those reveals intact. Two WoRs in particular are coming to mind.).

Great vid! Yes, faunus also have semblance and aura. Blake leaves an after-image of herself, which she can use as a decoy, among other uses. Yes, that was the same girl from ep1. Weiss can use multiple elements, depending on the dusk cartridge she's using, but she definitely favors ice... And yeah, if you're going to react to the soundtrack, use the lyric videos from youtube, best way to do it IMO. "I May Fall" = personal fave. Lastly, you've probably heard this from others, but Rooster Teeth is super cool with reactors showing the entire video, including the openings, and they're good with clearing up any copyright issues reactors have had in the past. I mention that because, at least for the Vol. 2 opener, it'd be cool to get your reaction the whole way through... Anyway, keep up the great work! See you in Vol. 2!

The distinguishable powers are called Semblances as Pyrhha said at the end of chapter 14. Semblances are the manifestation of one's power and is based on their character overall. Ruby's semblance is speed, Weiss' semblance are the glyphs (runs in the family), Yang's as seen from the Yellow Trailer is her red eyes which means she has more endurance and just a power boost and Blake's semblance are her clones. Blake makes shadow clones to fight as she is more of an assassin type of character. All the students have a semblance, idk about minor characters but mostly everyone who is a hunter, huntress or part of the main cast has a semblance.

Alright, so! Before you start the next volume, there are probably a few things you'd like to know! 1. Those were most definitely the white fang. They're working for the ginger in the hat (while HE works for the girl with fire in the bonus scene) 2. The ginger in the hat's name is Roman Torchwick (my 2nd favorite villian. You'll see my favorite next season) 3. I'm not 100% sure this has to do with the elements. I'm pretty sure whoever told you that meant SEASONS. You'll see what I mean by that later. 4. Faunus's do in fact possess a semblance (Sun can make copies of himself for short amounts of time, and Blake can make a shadow of herself in a fight so an enemy will hit that instead of her) Hope this helps! I tried not to give anything away, so I'm sorry if there any spoilers.

Blake's power is that she Leaves behind copy's of herself which Se can mix with dust to make statues of her self made from what ever dust she used.

That's why when she was fighting Roman, it looked like there were multiple Blakes for brief instances. I won't say anything about Penny, though, because we haven't been shown yet so it'd be spoilers. There we go! Four of my five favorite antagonists! Now to have the three from the end scene officially introduced...

I appreciate you watching through the credits, because I feel like a lot of reactors miss out from not hearing the credit songs.

Dont know if u noticed but in RWBY every single Song you can hear is a reference to atleast 1 Character. Sometimes even done by a Character. The Song in Chapter 8 for example is a duet of Ruby and her deceased Mother. When done with a Volume u can surely listen to the Soundtrack its amazing everytime

When you do Volume 2, be sure to do the World of Remnant's as well. It's a series they made to explain things in depth in between episodes so they don't have to try and somehow fit it into an episode when relevant. There is one WoR that was only put in the Volume 2 DVD/Blu-Ray, but you can find it on KZread. I forgot what episodes they're in between but there's probably a playlist that has them in order. I recommend grouping them with the episode after it, like Episode 3 -> WoR 1 + Episode 4 -> Episode 5. They're really short, but very informative. Keep up the great work. :) :) :)

There are some World of Remnant shorts you should have watched between episodes for more story. On youtube there's a RWBY recommended watch order playlist, I recommend using that. Great reaction as always :)

Blake's semblance is called shadow clones where she quickly moves so fast that she leaves a "shadow" of herself for a short time. Penny leaving with the unknown person will appear in the 2nd volume. Roman is just like a most wanted criminal of remamant.

oh and there are shorts that explain more about series. they are called world of remanant. watching those will give u more insight to the world of rwby about dust, faunus, and history.

Fun fact the Vocalist (Casey Lee Williams) was only 13 years old when she recorded for volume 1. You are definitely going to want to check out the RWBY soundtracks, the songs explain A lot about the stories and the characters inner thoughts for example Explaining Weiss' development, learning about Ruby's mother through the character driven songs mixed in with with more hard rock battle themes and cutesy love songs.

I cant wait to see your reactions to the rest of this show!! I hope you'll enjoy the soundtrack as well! Though I'm curious if you'll be listening to the entire thing in one video or splitting it up? (also I just have to say your makeup is very pretty in this video!)

When you were talking about the elements i thought of Avatar for some reason. Also the guy in red, Roman Torchwick, is working with the White Fang. It will go a little more in depth in Volume 2

I love your reactions. I gotta say this is also one of my favorite episodes too. And yeah, Penny is pretty powerful. For a reason... NEXT TIME: Fighting some sort of big cat, a few drawings of foreshadowing, and DELICIOUSNESS! The Best Day Ever!

Penny's 1st fight scene here always gives me goosebumps. I never get tired seeing her fight.

A lot of the questions you had about the elements, powers, etc are covered along the series, but there is a supplementary series of short videos called 'The World of Remnant' that covers those topics more directly. We started getting one of those every month or so during the regular release schedule, beginning with Volume 2. You can choose to watch them in the order they were released to the public, in between the corresponding RWBY episodes, either paired up with an adjacent episode or by themselves. Or you can choose to watch them all of them in a single go at the end of each volume. You can see the list of videos on the binge playlist on the RT (Rooster Teeth) channel, and the order they were released in. You will find the first WoR video after chapter 4 on Vol. 2.

Blake was absolutely adorable as a kid. Also, hilariously, Sun's weapon is actually based off a real life weapon called the 'Gun' (staff). So it's a Gun-Gun

What is your favourite weapon so far. Mine at the end of volume one was Sun's gun-chucks. Also I'm glad you'll be reacting to the soundtrack, because all the songs tell a story about the characters. my favourite song from the first soundtrack is "Red Like Roses Pt. 2"

Faunus or not, every hunter or huntress has a unique semblance. Blake's Semblance are her Shadow Clones.

Dust is crystalized magic basically. It can be used in a variety of ways. The Schnee dust company is the largest producer of energy propellent in the world. You will definitely see more about the Schnee family later on. Hmm aura is kinda like a shield to protect your physical body from harm, and it is what you is to activate dust. From what I can tell it also activates a semblance kinda like Mana points in an RPG. So excited for you to react to vol 2! And you mentioned the soundtrack, are you going to react to all the vol 1 songs before moving on? That would be cool, not too many reactors do that!

There is a series of video named "World of Remnant" that are background /general-knowledge about the world of RWBY. They were made a different moment during season 2, 3 and 4. If you can find when they happen in the series (between which episode of which season) and watch them at the appropriate time, they will help you understand the series and the world a little bit better.

not many got the connection between Uncle Qrow and the message from Qrow you got it quick took me rewatching episode 1 to remember and make the connection lol

I like Roman. Not for being a bad guy but his personality, style and the way he speaks is cool. Love Penny. It's like the majority of these characters, heroes and villains, in this show are fan favorites. Lol.

Another late night. another Molllyyy reaction. Definitely worth it. Finally done with Volume 1! only 3 more to go before fall and volume 5. You are too sweet for this show. P.S. Weiss heavily uses dust with her glyphs so she can use fire and wind and so forth if she wanted too. Also Blake's semblance is to leave behind shadows of herself that can take a hit or be used as a platform. Vol 2 explains it a little bit better but I want to stay clear of spoilers. P.S. The best way to think of dust is their form of energy. Instead of electricity they use dust for their power source. Instead of mining fossil fuels, they mine energy crystals, basically.

Also, to clarify a point you had about "powers", in this world, anyone who has an Aura can have a semblance. A semblance is a way to manifest your Aura giving you a special power of sorts. So far, you have seen Ruby's semblance, super speed, Pyrrah's, magnetism, Weiss's, glyphs, and Blake's after shadow image. For Blake's semblance/power she creates an image of herself so it takes the hit while giving he an opportunity to attack. Another point on semblances is that it is tied to someone's Aura, meaning if you are worn out in a fight, you probably won't ne able to use your semblance. Over the following Volumes, you get to see other people semblance. Another note, a semblance is unique to the person so they will be different for each person (with an exception, more on that much later). I hoped I helped clear things up for you and have a nice rest of the day/night.

Different kinds of dust have different elemental properties. It's up to the person which kinds they favor, but anyone can use any of the types of dust. A lot of your questions get answers later in the show. :)

To give a little explanation on Faunus without spoiling later facts: each Faunus has a singular animal trait, Blake's being cat ears, Velvet's being rabbit ears, and Sun has his monkey tail. And, without going into spoilers, besides that not much else has been explained about Faunus so far but they are very interesting to theorize and talk about. Also quick random thing, this episode shows a lot of reasons why I love Penny, she's so adorable and awesome! 😍

Well there is a World Of Remnant about the faunus. By the WoR are informational videos that explain more about stuff and lore in RWBY such examples are Huntsmen, Aura, Dust, and The Schnee Dust Company. You can watch them whenever but some would suggest before a volume starts.

If you check out the soundtrack, each girl has their own 'theme'. Ruby - Red Like Roses Weiss - Mirror, Mirror Blake - From Shadows Yang - I Burn They also have a part 2 to each.

Basically, every person that is not a grimm has a semblance, which is a specific ability linked to that person, including faunus. in some rare cases those semblances can be hereditary, but thats not the norm. semblences are the things pyrrha went into detail about in the forever fall woods: with her semblance being polarity, weiss' having her glyphs, and so on and so forth.

The Faunus can also have semblances. Blake's semblance allows her to leave behind a clone of herself

Good notice on the show's visual cues to things. A lot of the stuff in this show is reviled visually before it is stated outright.
