Track 9 (Red Like Roses Part 2) is a "conversation" between Ruby and her mother Summer... and yeah, pretty sad =/

I was literally about to fall asleep. Then I saw this notification... 4 am, hour long video.... screw sleep!!!! "Gold" is basically Yang singing to Ruby, so you were thinking correctly😉 Also, in the "Red" trailer, it's easy to miss, but the headstone that Ruby was visiting said "Summer Rose; Thus Kindly I Scatter". Listen to the song again and you'll realise this song is actually kinda sad, yet heartwarming at the same time😢.

The Unpopular Swine , I totally agree with you Jeff and Casey along with Jeff's band are so good at what they do. They also did at least some of the music for RvB too which is why Monty went to them about doing the music with RWBY. The Afterbuzztv interviews that Jeff and Casey do with the crew are awesome, well I should say all the Afterbuzztv shows that talk to the RT staff are good. The reactions Katie and Megan do on Katie's channel are good too. On a side note, from Shadows is told from the point of view of Blake and Adam thus the Beauty and the Beast origin theory for Blake. Molllyyy, Weiss has several songs that tell her story though out the series. When you have caught up to the current videos for the series I would love for you to listen to all of those together and see her progression. We love you, Molllyyy.

More and more reactors are starting to do reactions to the soundtracks, but I think it was something that largely started with the Volume 3's soundtrack, which is why it's certainly a treat to see someone reacting to the first one.

And yes, taken together, Yang's two songs represent her duality of nature, like the Sun: nurturing and wrathful all at once. "Gold" is, on a higher level, about how far she'll go to take care of those she loves. "I Burn" is about how, if you make her your enemy, she will _wreck your shit._

"Human Torch can't mess with me" Is a reference to the guy from Fantastic 4. Same with Johnny Blase who is the alter ego of Ghost Rider. Both are associated with fire.

Not really any Saiyans in Marvel universe, no. And neither the movie- nor the comic-book version of NTW gets anywhere near them. Which is good because I hate almost everything DB-based with a passion.

Just wanted to say, that while you should re watch these with them as well, I cant stress enough how important it is for you to watch the later volume's soundtracks with onscreen lyrics, I recommend looking up FlyntofRWBYNation, he is a great guy who make lyric vids for most if not all of the RWBY songs.

Mostly that's because as good as Casey is, she doesn't have the best diction, especially in the fast songs

Just pointing out, if you rewatch the beginning of volume 1, episode 1, you can figure out pretty clearly who the "simple soul" is.

Big Dick Energy Yeah from volume 1-3. 4-5 they seem to be 1 year older.

I also like the bittersweet, even sad undertone in "Gold", which is a song about Yang always looking after Ruby, and doing anything to give her happy days. The sad undertone comes in because it's describing how Yang's filling in as the surrogate mother for Ruby. This is made clear in the second half of the chorus. "Like the smell of a Rose, on a Summer's day/I will be there to take your fears away" Ruby's mother's name, as we see in the Red Trailer, was Summer Rose. That lyric choice was not accidental, nor a coincidence.

I love how the lyrics of Red Like Roses(Part 1) set up Team RWBY, as well as all of their songs. "Red Like Roses fills my dreams and brings me to the place you rest" - Expanded upon in RLR Part 2 "White is cold and always yearning, burdened by a royal test" - Talking about the isolation that forms the core of Mirror, Mirror "Black, the beast, descends from shadows" - "From Shadows" literally being the name of Blake's song "Yellow beauty burns gold" - Sets up BOTH of Yang's songs, "I Burn" and "Gold"

I personally can't wait to see you react to Vol. 3 soundtrack it's my favorite and I feel like you'll enjoy it as well, also glad to see you're making videos again!

As RWBY has gone on, I have been amazed by how literal some of these songs have become with events down the line in the show. Really adds depth to the songs when you go back to listen to them again afterwards.

I'm pretty far into RWBY (Vol 5, Ep 11 at this time) and yet listening to Wings again just gave me so many theories on whose perspective its coming from. Keep reacting Molllyyy!

Some things you might have missed: Red Like Roses: "Black the beast descends from shadows"-This is similar to the line from From Shadows, "From shadows, we'll descend apon the world!" "Yellow beauty burns gold"-*burning* and *beauty* are very common themes for Yang, especially considering that every time you see her using her semblance, her hair turns white gold and there appears to be fire around her. "Fills my dreams and brings me to the place you rest"-This is a reference to Ruby's dead mother, whose grave you see at the start of the Red trailer. I May Fall: The whole song isn't meant to sound sad if that's what you were getting from it. Think about it as, *I will be defeated eventually, but we will continue going until that happens no matter what* so it is more like courageous and optimistic. You will hear this song in one of my personal favorite scenes of the show later in the series, so hype for that. Red Like Roses II: The song actually links to the end of Red Like Roses part one; if played sequentially, it forms a seamless transition. The song is about Ruby and her dead mother, Summer. You see her grave in the Red trailer and once or twice later in the show as well. Ruby's part in the song is about her missing her mother and her mother is explaining why she left her (and died). You heard a little bit about this in Volume 2 Chapter 6. The people who sang Ruby's part and Summer's part are daughter and mother in real life. This song was played during RWBY/JNPR vs Nevermore/Deathstalker in Volume 1 Chapter 8. I was expecting to have to write a lot more here, but I guess the songs I'm thinking about are all later volumes.

"I May Fall" is my favorite song in this soundtrack. For people who deal with depression, it's something we need to tell ourselves everyday.

Trivia tidbit: I May Fall was inspired by the speech given by Aragorn in front of the Black Gate in Return of the King. Loved the reaction and analyses, can't wait for the next video!

Ruby is the simple soul, as demonstrated in the first episode when Ozpin is talking to the mysterious narrator.

You're over half right over half of the time, which is just enough to smile at and laugh conspiratorially with the rest of the community.Everybody else seems to be clearing up who the human torch is and the whole Red like Roses part II w/ Summer Rose thing. Ruby's got some issues, but she's a simple soul, she'll be fine. In the liner notes for the cd, they dedicated Wings to Monty Oum. Hurts to listen to it these days, but I do it for the same reason I watch his insane DDR skills at RTX-2012. The man's a legend. Yes! Soundtrack reaction! I can't remember if I've mentioned this before, but I can play Red Like Roses and Mirror Mirror on the piano. They're both a ton of fun to play but I can attest for how tricky they are to play, especially Mirror Mirror. Gives me a new level of respect for Jeff and Casey. Some of those parts are almost inhumanely fast! I love how into this you got. RWBY's music is really amazing and so many of the songs hold such...I don't wanna say 'great' meanings because not all the songs send a good message (like From Shadows or Mirror Mirror or Red Like Roses pt. II) but the meanings and messages that the songs have are pretty powerful ones. Yeah, powerful sounds right.

I'm not the first to bring this stuff up, but it needs to be pointed out anyway: If you want an idea of what exactly Red Like Roses Part 2 was all about, look back at the Red Trailer and the full Volume 1 opening. (At the end of Chapter 1.) You see a gravestone in front of Ruby marked 'Summer Rose: Thus Kindly I Scatter', and a mysterious hooded figure in white that vanishes into red rose petals. "For every nightmare just discloses, it's your blood that's red like roses..." Loving your reaction series, keep up the good work and the creative thoughts! We need more people willing to go out on a limb and speculate, it's fun to watch.

Excellent work, as always! If and when you get time, you should react to a bunch of the trailers released at Comic-Con this year. Specifically Thor: Ragnarok, and The Defenders if you're into the MCU 😊

Oh by the way if you were wondering the Human Torch is a reference to Marvel Comic's Fantastic 4 much like how the Super Saiyan line is a reference to Dragon Ball Z. When she activates her semblance she burns up and has he hair glow yellow sort of like a mixture between Super Saiyan and The Human Torch. :)

The music for this show is some of the BEST stuff I've ever heard for a show before. There really isn't enough reactions for the soundtracks. Once again I love your reaction to RWBY related stuff. ^_^ I also like how you analyze the lyrics and take meaning from them. Pretty much what I did when I heard the tracks fully for the first time. Also, I, too, dig Melanie Martinez's music.

Red like Roses part II is definitely my favorite RWBY song of all time. From what I can tell it is Ruby and her mother singing the song, with Ruby on the first verse. That song gives some insight in where the series may go eventually. I Burn is definitely good, gets you pumped up to face anything! Mirror Mirror is such a beautiful song and so sad. It really gives you an understanding of why Weiss is so prickly to everyone around her. Wings is a Blake and Weiss song. If you listen to the song and remember the chapter it played in you can catch that. Blake of course has been hiding in shadows most of her life. Weiss had searched for Blake for 12 hours. So one verse for each. They have both had a broken past, but they are both trying to move forward and become better people. Awesome video as always! Can't wait for the Volume 2 soundtrack reaction! Some good stuff there as well!

Here are two trivia tidbits about the full version of 'I Burn': Both the album version and the remix version of the song make reference to the Super Saiyan state from the anime & manga series Dragon Ball. The reference stems from Yang's fiery Semblance that appears when she's enraged. The album version also features reference to the Human Torch from the Marvel comic book universe, as well as Johnny Blaze, the alter ego of the Ghost Rider.

Edit: Your on the right track that Red like Roses part 2 is a conversation, You can easily figure out who is conversing with just this soundtrack and the Red trailer. Red like Roses is Ruby's theme, so it goes without saying that part 2 applies to her as well. So one side is Ruby, the other person isnt as obvious but you can guess with a few clues. Look at the very first line in the first Red like roses song, now with that in mind , think back to the red trailer and what Ruby was doing before she got attacked by the grimm. It's even better if you go back to the Red trailer yourself and look at that beginning scene because there is a visual that makes it a bit more clear as well.

I think the "human torch" line from "I Burn" was just a reference to the character from Fantastic Four. They also mentioned Johnny Blake, who I'm pretty sure is Ghost Rider, another comic book character associated with fire.

This series and the music really resonates with people. I mean we know of at least half a dozen babies named Ruby Rose who are being raised with Wings and all our days as their lullabies from community members who love this.

I may fall has always been my favorite. I've always had a thought that it may be predicting things to come in the series.

Also on the topic of Red Like Roses II, it's a Ruby song, and think back on the start of the red trailer, where exactly Ruby stands. The answer to what the song means is there - but also I think it will come together as soon as you see vol2 ep 6.

I'm not going to be specific so that it isn't a spoiler, but one of the songs in this soundtrack comes back in a later volume in one of my favorite scenes in the entire series

I May Fall is one of my favorites. That feeling of resolve, and the knowledge that, yes, one day we won't make it. But until then we'll keep pushing on. Kinda resonates a lot with me. Always used to get me to tear up.

Red Like Roses II is a duet between Ruby and her mother Summer, who died on a mission when Ruby was very young. It's sung by Casey and her own mother.

Watching her listen to "I Burn" and seeing all the references to Dragon Ball, and Marvel comics go completely over her head was kind of adorable. Do not worry young student. The accent to nerdom looks difficult at first but if you follow your heart you will not fail.

Red Like Roses Part 2 is from Episode 8: Players and Pieces. The part where Team RWBY is fighting the Nevermore.

Here is a bit of info, the rapping verse in Yang's song "I Burn" wasn't intended to have swearing in and was later removed and replaced with a version without any swearing in other versions of it to keep it "PG"
