Rusty Gold | 100 Year Old Coal Forge Blower Full Restoration (Buffalo Forge Company)
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
This beautiful old piece of machinery was unearthed here in the California desert. Who knows how long it's been unused and buried in the sand, but I knew I could get it back to working order. Nice to finally have a matching blower on my restored Buffalo Forge Coal pan.

I was fortunate to be able to get this blower and a Buffalo forge #651 a number of years ago for a total of $15. Great piece of forging equipment!
Great idea creating the numbers with wire and attaching them with JB Weld. I also never thought about using a foam brush to apply spray paint. Nice restoration! Thanks for sharing.

It works really well for hitting the "high spots" while having just enough give to lay down paint.
The numbering solution is fantastic! 😈

Is there anything you can't do?? I discovered your channel last week and have binged most of your videos and all I can say is WOW, you are not afraid to try anything!! Only one thing I haven't seen you do and I'm going to give you a challenge! Make DINNER! Rules: 1) only one pan or pot can be used, 2) you must make or restore your pan/pot and cooking utensils. 3) Must be cooked in the shop using one of your forges 4) dinner for 2. Good Luck Cap!
If JT has a volunteer fire department Brett should be fire chief

There is something so absolutely gratifying about putting old iron back to work. So simply yet solidly made. Bury a modern cordless drill in the dirt for a month much less years and it'll be shot. I'm continually impressed by your will to bring these old pieces back to life. Excellent work sir!!!

It never ceases to amaze me how Brett turns the functional parts of his work into works of art. The forge fan mount might have been rough and square but no, precise angles and beautiful curves. Brett, you are an incredible craftsman. Thank you very much for your work. At the moment I do not have the resources to support you on patreon but I hope my situation improves soon and I will support you without a doubt. Greetings from Chile.

I have a red star Buffalo forge. I believe it was the earliest production of this blower. Instead of the gearbox it is a 3ft diameter steel wheel direct drive. I think it's around 150 years old. Came off a property that hosted general Braddock in Maryland.
Great find and even a better video. Great job as always.

It definitely helps that the general humidity is so darn low. Any time I find rusted nonsense out here, I have to remember that it's not near as bad as the Northeast.

Wow! Very impressive video production and craftsmanship! You went way beyond most other restorations by blacksmithing your own replacement handle and making your own custom stand. The only thing that surprised me was the use of shiny new hex bolts. In my view, those shiny new hex bolts clash (according to my taste) with the rest of it. This doesn't detract anything from the quality of your work -- you did an amazing job! Well done and thanks for sharing!
