Me too...I hate when youtube says that about me lol
One thing I would like to mention. When reinstalling the pin with the new part, drive the pin in from the opposite side. Not the same side you drove it out. It goes in much easier. I just did mine now.
This has been "Smithin' with Rick, and his 'happy lil guns'." 🎨😁☁️
The little ball is extraordinarily teeny. I got lucky with mine, I was sitting on the floor and the only thing on the floor was the tiny tiny ball bearing.
Nice! Thanks for the Sunday morning video Rick! Have a great rest of your day! -Steve-
Try using a clear trash or zip lock bag to cover up your parts during removal. I think I could make this part on a electric drill and some files. You should have removed the bolt before installing the part. Hammering on it like that can bend your receiver open .
Thanks so much did both mods to mine after watching. Used large clear plastic bag over bolt when removing and kept it. Great videos, thanks so much.
Glad you found your BB, Rick! 😁 Thanks for the video! That Rossi is beautiful! Keep on keepin' on!

Fascinating to watch. Love that rifle. Thank you🐴🏴
Picked up my same model stainless R92 today. I decided to check all the screws on it. Every single one was loose. Some extremely loose. If ya buy one, check them. Action is quite smooth on mine. The trigger does have some creep in it. Hoping it improves from use.
Love ur videos have learned alot thank you so much for spreading your wisdom!!!!!!

Good morning!
Might I recommend that you change your towel on the workbench. It may help you locate small pieces if the backdrop is clean.
I work at a FFL, all lever action in calibers above .22 sell fast. Just got in the new Ruger made Marlin 45-70. I currently have one on layaway with a JM marked barrel chambered in 30-30.

Beautiful Rifle Rick!!
Beautiful gun
❤❤❤ Thanks Rick, it really looks good ❤❤❤
That drive pin will hold a .25 auto case in once you shorten it a bit too. John Moses Browning didn't forget a safety.
Just did my 44mag thank you for the video
Level action rifles are pretty cool. When I was in high school 35 years ago I had a scoped 22 marlin lever action that I hunted 🐿️ with. I really liked that rifle
I have a question Is there a little tiny spring inside of the tube magazine plug and I would like to find that magazine plug spraying it goes over the over that screw that goes into the plug the tighten it down I would like to find out how much that little spring is it goes inside of the magazine plug screw for tighten it down
Nice work.
Rick, one of those magnetic trays will work better than a jar or cup for most gun parts .
The spring and BB are likely the detent for the lever to stop at the lock and unlock position. Good luck getting that back in if someone really wants to put that safety back in place.
Thanks Rick 👍🏼😉
Also, the pin is tapered and should be removed from the right side to the left.
Since the only way to unload the magazine is to cycle the rounds through the action, I LIKE the safety.
@JoseyWales44s

I keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction and my finger off the trigger while cycling the action, the way it's been done since 1866.
Should get mine next week. just added this to the list of mods needing to be accomplished. That safety just ruins the looks of the style, I love that stainless cap in there. going to do that.
Nice
Rick if you mosey up into Oklahoma a little ways to Tishomingo to Murray State College you can get on the waiting list to enroll in their Gunsmithing Program. Then you can be a professional gun smith. Full time, it’s not easy. 2 year college degree.
Where did you get the plug to go in the hole the safety left
Could you measure the detent ball so a person who may lose theirs could find another one? It would also allow a person to have a spare on hand in case their ball go flying like yours did.
Hate to say it but, just because yours has not had feeding or jam issues doesn't mean that it is not an issue with this rifle. This rifle is notorious for being ammunition length particular. If you research this in the cowboy action shooting community you will find out that it is such a big issue that many choose not to even consider it for use in competition.
3:00 Time to go magnet fishing
I think you're supposed to punch in the pin the same way it came out. The riveted end stays on the outside
nice CYA statement Rick. You know the only real safety is between the users ears. Cheers!
Are you going to paracord or leather wrap the lever loop to protect the back of your knuckles when racking? (Nice job on the fix by the way)👍
I have so many extra detents and springs it's insane. I buy them in bulk from my local gun guy around the block. I don't think people know how many people understand how many detents and springs are in rifle's/handguns
Very nice looking rifle. How many hours to maintain it?
Thanks for showing this. What purpose does the Molly serve other than to gather dirt/dust/grime?

it bonds at a molecular level to metals, cant be seen but protects and hard to remove.

Nice rifle.
That pin appears to hold that plug in the hole solid enuf... a guy could drill and tap (10-32) that plug, then add an adjustable Skinner peep sight...
I'm glad my super old rossi 92 didnt come with a safety. Their pains in the neck
Where did you get the parts? For safety part, & the stainless Steel follower?

There’s a couple of sites that change it to a peephole sight
Yeehaw! Got her done!
How do you find this compares to a Winchester for action smoothness? Thanks
@HeyGunPeople
Жыл бұрын
about the same not big difference, My win is old and well used so natural smoothing is more advanced
ball bearing and spring. Also called a detent.
+1 for the Algorithm. 👍🏻
Don't have that gun, but good to know.
Jeeze. Who ever heard of a safety switch on a lever-action rifle. What WILL they think of next!

Next time, use Saran Wrap.
If you buy a Chiappa Lever Action Rifle , you won't have to mess with a worthless safety... just the first click of the hammer..!!
How do you like the Rossi? I have a Henry in 357, and I am in the market for one in .44mag. Is it worth saving a couple of hundred bucks, or stick with the Henry? Love your videos of cleaning/breakdowns!
@Diemerstein
Жыл бұрын
Henry's are pretty much the top of the heap of lever guns, their customer service is second to none, not to mention their rifles come with a lifetime warranty. That being said, I do have this exact rifle and runs without issues, I like the stainless steel, it's much easier to take care of than my Henry Big Boy which is the brass version. My Henry weighs about 8.5lbs, my Rossi R92 weighs less than 6lbs making it easier to handle, but you will feel the recoil quite a bit more.

@@lens7859 Like I said, if you want the best, Henry is going to be your choice. My next lever action is going to be a 45-70, so I would be willing to spend an extra $200 over a Rossi, but only if I can get it in something other than the brass version, and here is why. Henry's are not only the best, they are absolutely gorgeous, however, they need a fair amount of attention, these classic brass rifles need lots of polishing after every use. When I take it out shooting, you have a tendency to treat it like egg shells to ensure it keeps it's beauty. I have this very Rossi and despite all the praise I have for Henry rifles, the Rossi is not a bad rifle, it's actually quite good and it's worth what I paid for it.
🚒🚒🚒🚒🚒Hey Rick, a friend of mine just bought a S&W shield .380 brand new, only shoots good ammo, but it stove pipes at least 3-4 times per magazine. Any ideas that I can pass on to him on how to help? Thank you in advance.

try different ammo and different mags, those are most common problems, he has to isolate is it mags, rounds, or gun

Just remove the damn thing and put in à stainless plug....!!
That so called safety is a travesty. I have one and hate it. Wish I could just replace the whole bolt.

...I hsd my gunsmith remive thst dumbarsed safety post haste...strictly lawyer crap..it mskes no damn sense...
IDK but that seems kinda like not the greatest design for a safety. OH WELL.
If you were changing the safety to a plug because of looks, I think the plug looks just as ugly as a safety!
I don't want a replacement I want to remove it altogether my old lever guns never had them and by the way. That Rossi looks beautiful I never looked into them did it always come with that furniture I always thought they were a cheap replica but this one looks beautiful mine are all old but still work
