@@peggycloud5031 Because we have salt in the air and it rains very frequently here. For smaller guns, it prevents corrosion when carrying concealed close to your body. Perspiration is pretty moist and salty which is a great environment for rust.
Love you skirting around with the Rossi, Rick! 😊 Keep on keepin' on!
When I took mine apart I had to sand down some of the parts to get them to go back together. It wouldn’t go back together. Now it is slick working.
Great video, Rick! I had an old timer show me years ago how he put a dab of fine grade (NOT course) valve lapping compound in those channels (where you were going to file) and operate the action about 50 to 100 times, then clean and inspect. The result was like butter. Works good for trigger/sear and semiauto pistol slides as well. Rub a little, clean and check. Repeat as necessary. Have fun!

That's is a good way to smooth the action, the only downside is you must take apart the rifle two or three times.
There's just something relaxing about watching Rick disassemble that rifle. Looking forward to the next video Rick. 🤘🏽

Love the video. I think the more gun safety/maintenance videos there are the better. Especially is they are done by someone with actual knowledge. Thank you Rick. Hope all is well with you.
Great video Rick, I see that you're a perfectionist like me! Take your time, do it right, and it'll be silky smooth! Thanks for pt. 1 can't wait for the follow up vids!
Hi Rick, love your gun videos and your sense of humor. I don't think people realize that you don't take yourself too seriously. I like that 😎🚔🇱🇷👮🐴🐴🐈

Cool vid. I love the gun take down and fiddle with vids. They've really given me the confidence to work on mine, so THANK YOU for doing these.🫡 Not to mention they help me deal with my OCD. 😵💫 I've learned to stop yelling at the screen... "Riiiick...🫵😬 Will you AT LEAST organize that workbench first🤨🤌, and YOU'RE GONNA BANG UP THE SIGHTS ON THE VICE!" 😲🫣 Buuuut... I still haven't mastered NOT yelling it in the comments. (Progress, not perfection.) 🤣😉
Henry recently came out with a 9mm PCC...sort of looks like the front of a Thompson and the rear like a Browning BAR, using a stick magazine.....OEM mags, or Glock or S&W MP mags. The model is called the "Homestead." Planning on getting a Marlin/Ruger lever gun in .357 mag. Supposedly Ruger is doing an excellent job in bring the Marlin name & reputation back. I have a real Marlin 335 and 336 from the 1980's. But they shot rifle rounds.
Another great video 🤠. I collect old lever actions, but my Rossi 92’s ride with me on my ATV’s. The price point is such that I don’t care too much when they get knocked around. Rick, you are an inspiration to gun enthusiasts. Thanks for everything you do! 🫶🏻

Yeah, I hate those grooved pins. They work... but they make it hard to disassemble the gun and cause damage to the pin and the receiver every single time you remove them or put them back. After just a couple times they can do enough damage to not even stay in place anymore. A good pin will be softer than the frame to not damage it... but that's not always the case. (..and either way it sucks to have a gun or part that gets damaged just from disassembling it). It's one of them parts that there should always be extras laying around.

@@HeyGunPeople Think I saw it before, I'll re-check for content. Springs in general is a very complicated topic with many factors. Grooved pins a different topic. Made some, these were a pain in the butt to make especially for my small size I needed, 1/16" dia .

Good video. 1000/1500/2000 grit wet sanding paper does wonders. I dose mine in rem-oil and gently work the surfaces.
Pew pew peepoh!!
Thanks Rick..
Put a empty case in the bolt when you punch the pin. I forget his name of channel manni makes a really good video. You can make these rifles really nice by polishing everything
Love the video thanks for the info. One critique though, not a great example to have ammo on a bench when you’re working on a gun.
I would avoid any excessive sanding, sometimes just using a firearm through normal use at the range marry's the parts and smooths things out.
👍🏻 Very interesting

Did you hear about the new rules on PansyTube on Firearms Rick coming in March? Looks like all the 2A channels will be leaving this platform to another.
I have no idea for this gun, but it's a general rule to push the pins out the right side and to put them back in from the right side also. The problem though is that it's not all guns... and many older guns are the one's that go in/out the left side, including some reproductions. I'm not sure how to tell though, because they're not usually visibly smaller on one side than the other or anything like that and I don't think they mark them to tell you.

I never noticed any of them had closed magazine tubes. I know you load them from the receiver... but I always assumed they'd still have a removable cap (for cleaning and maintenance). Thought it would be easier to manufacture without having to weld the end shut also.

After racking it that many times wouldn't it be wise to change the spring?

oil it up and cycle the action about 500 times, that may break it in, check for rough edges and use 1000 grit to smooth out, that should help

Hey Gum peeple.
Maybe get rid of the ammo when working on a firearm. The tech in the video is great.
Shouldn't have to do this with any firearm you pay good money for. My Marlin 1895 had stiff lever action but in my case only took time to become just right by using it. Crazy how just a few minutes on a wire wheel and buffer no sharp edges on levers, yet they ship new models out this way. I mean any make.
This one is bad. kzread.info/dash/bejne/qqllvJhqqanPito.html This killer cop couldn't contain his exhilaration at getting his kill. A kill in the parking lot of a middle school when the kids were coming out. Sheriff lied about the circumstances, despite the video showing it was a complete lie. D. A. went with the Sheriff's lie instead of the clear evidence in the video. There was a good presser by the family and civil attorneys, but it wouldn't let me post a second link.

Why are there so many videos about smoothing out the action of the R92 ? Is the quality control that bad with Rossi manufacturing? I don’t know if I’m going to try to fix mine or sell it!

For whatever it's worth Rick... a really amazing and sad story out of Canada where 4-5 armed robbers/home invaders broke into a house in Canada at 5 in the morning... and started attacking a 22 year old guy's mother? the 22 year old homeowner taking care of his mom had a legally licensed gun and shot one of the robbers, who had illegal guns, and one of the robbers died literally in his house from being shot. now the 22 year old in canada is being charged with 2nd degree murder and is currently in jail. incredible news story... and shocking how apparently self-defense within the home is not protected in canada even under threat of violent felonies. kzread.info/dash/bejne/qGWY0s5wYNO9l9o.html

Canada's firearm laws are fu*ked up. But that is what you get when govt. grants having guns as a privilege and NOT a RIGHT.
