Like Henry said he wanted to destroy everything, he'd run through brick wall for the team, the goals didn't matter as long as the team won, had he taken care of himself, hadn't played so recklessly, had focused himself as a striker he was at one point considered a bigger talent than Ronaldo, he could have been the third player alongside those two... But he put his body on the line so much that it was worn out by the time he was 30... But I guess he wouldn't have had it any other way running behind every ball, pressing non stop, playing through injuries that's just how he was the records and historybooks didn't really matter, giving 100% no matter when never conserving energy guess that's what made us fall in love with this Footballer

Love Rooney he will forever be a legend for us Utd fans and true that he was at times considered a better upcoming talent than Ronaldo but lets be honest his wayward and undisciplined lifestyle was more of a reason that he didn't break into the best player of the world.

Sounds interesting but what did he do to his body that meant he was worn out by the time he was 30? Seems to me that he didn't have the body type to be a Ronaldo at 36 and most importantly he didn't look after his weight.

Never forget in his prime, United down to 10 men & he single handedly bullied & ran through our entire Spurs defence & scored… ridiculous.

Many people overlook how hard Rooney was playing when he arrived at the MLS. He wasn’t physically at the peak of his career, but he was mentally as good as ever. Legend!

I was there when he scored that bicycle kick against City at Old Trafford. The crowd went wild, I just stood up and watched in silent, taking it all in... Watching one of the best players in the world to ever do it at that time. Incredible.

WAZZA might not be the go-to role model everyone expected him to be, but more importantly, he was a talented, selfless team player. Love him very much.

I started watching football in 08. I fell in love with football by watching Manchester United. People asked me whether it's because of Ronaldo, I reply it's because of Rooney ❤️

Wayne Rooney is one of my favourite players of all time nobody could cause you so many emotions in just one game when he played your team. LEGEND

I watched this man before, during and after his prime. The one moment that sticks out the most to me was actually when he was in the MLS. He chased down a player from about 30 yards off. Put in the perfect text book tackle. Wins the ball gets up takes the ball forward and delivers a ball from the almost absolute right side of the pitch and hits it back across the field about 60 yards possibly further because it was the left post if the goal. Puts it on a dime to player who I believe is maybe 5'4" 5'5" for the game winner in the last minutes of the game. This happened when he was well past his "prime"! I don't care what you say about the man. When things are on the line and at there most difficult, win or lose he showed up and did his best. He played old school in a modern era. He paid the price for that. But it was beautiful to watch none the less.

what i also remember about that move was how his teammates all flocked towards the goalscorer and few if any, came towards rooney who put the ball on a platter for that goal to be scored.

I started watching football because I was amazed when watching Rooney's chip goal vs Portsmouth in 2006, this man could of scored so many more goals if the manager didn't sacrifice him to a midfield role, yet he still broke records. One of the best players of this century easily

Wayne Rooney. One of my all time favourite strikers to ever play for United who could single handedly grab a game by the scruff of the neck and win us games when the odds were against us. Sadly since he left there hasn’t been a replacement who has the same heart and desire. Yes Mason Greenwood is awesome and I have no doubt that he will become another United legend in years to come but in terms of pure power and aggression nobody has come close. Wazza was a one off. Can’t wait for this to drop.

I just want to say that he was the best player at the time. Even when we had Ronaldo and everyone else, he was the difference maker. When he did not play, the team never ticked. He was so good at controling the game even when he was up front, he always set the standard for the whole team. I can't believe how 90% of people who watched him play don't rate him as an all-time great, he is the proof that football is not always about stats ( even though he has pretty good stats) He lost his will to play football in the last season of fergie when the two of them fell apart and at the age of 30 he stopped competing at the highest level. Well, from 16 to 30 years old, he will always be considered as my favorite Manchester United player of all-time. You are a legend Wayne Rooney and no one has the same football as you do.

Supported United since 1980..... still the best player & captain Manchester United have had in all that time. He set standards.... standards we simply can't begin to dream of now.

I'm a Chelsea fan and I call him Master Wayne. A rival player who I adored & loved.
