Wayne Rooney interview | Opens up about drink, anger and mental health issues | Injuring John Terry
Спорт
Wayne Rooney has laid bare the issues with anger and mental health that punctuated his career, with Manchester United’s all-time top scorer revealing he once went into game at Chelsea intent on injuring someone.
Nobody has scored more goals for the Old Trafford giants or England, yet there was a feeling of what could have been after the 36-year-old retired to take the managerial post at Derby this time last year.
Rooney is available to watch on Amazon Prime Video from Friday 11th February

Yes..most people don’t know how and therefore drink etc. The sports world is also vicious when someone or a team is not performing. I have seen how at Everton the recent toxicity of some supporters towards players, manager and hierarchy only serves to make the team play worse. Supporters need to know that players are human beings and no one likes abuse screamed at them. To any supporters out there ..for any club ..better if you are inclined to express anger that you stay away from matches as you really don’t know the harm you could do and that will undoubtedly..sooner or later ..come back on you.

@@FIshfood500 he's doing an amazing job at derby where he has faced huge on and off field issues with transfer embargo's and the ongoing uncertainty over the future of the football club and the massive 21 point deduction. He has shown how determined and confident he is in his own ability to try and achieve what would be the greatest escape ever, if he doesn't get derby safe he still has done a remarkable job to give them even a sniff of staying up.

I’m a Liverpool fan through and through, and always saw Wayne Rooney as the enemy, especially with his Everton & Man Utd background, even though you had to respect him on the pitch. Have to say that now, I see him in a different light, he’s honest, passionate and a total winner. It takes guts and character to admit to all these dark thoughts, as well as all the off field issues. Definitely one of the greatest football talents of the last 50-60 years. He is just the type of player which United are craving for right now, and since he left Old Trafford, they haven’t been the same team.

He will probably always be my favorite United player. I started actually following the club seriously in 2010~11, so I didn't really see Keane and some of the other legends during their time week in and week out. No one else had Rooney's mad dog attitude. He was everywhere on the pitch. He was tracking back and throwing tackles as a make-shift left-back, he would command the attack and link up the play with his amazing passing range and football IQ. You knew he was gonna give 100% every week. Such a passionate player. And what a rocket of a right foot.

I like Wayne Rooney immensely. A down to earth normal working class bloke who just happened to be born with an incredible god given talent.
I met him last weekend or so. I did not believe myself, super humble and has a gentle heart! Thanks for making a photo with me
I remember United fans slamming him for 'wanting to leave the club.' In reality, he was asking the right questions: how were United okay with not replacing Ronaldo and Tevez and an aging team in general. That rebuild that never happened has haunted United ever since!

ROONEY IS SO REAL
Favourite player ever. In my opinion no one has ever had as many well rounded high level abilities than him. Name another player with either elite or high level finishing, pace, power, tackles, can score with any part of his body, and any type of goal you can think of. Has the vision he has for a pass. Presses like fuck. Can play any position in the top half of the pitch to a high level. Can score 30+ goals a season at United when his job is to assist Ruud, Ronaldo, Van Persie ect ect. Become the all time leading goal scorer for the biggest club in the world, with legends for days, and his country to. Oh and hes also a captain and a born leader. I don't think we appreciate what an unbelievable person Wayne actually is, not just a player. Would love to see him manage United when the time is right. How can you not be motivated to play for this guy. Its impossible.
He’s the reason (not CR7) I started following Man Utd back in 2004/05. Rooney was the first striker that I saw chasing defenders. Was rare those days to see such hunger for goal. And yup, his honesty and courage to face his own dark side just reminds me how difficult and sometimes hurting to do so. One of my favorite players in PES/FIFA 😅

You are a lucky man, how did you manage to interview the legend? I am making a channel about English football for the Russian-speaking audience, so I can only dream of interviews with such stars
Just a human at the end of the day .we all make mistakes, but he undoubtedly was one of the best footballers to ever play, not many players if any produce the magic Rooney has done so many times, game after game
Just shows how human he is that he's willing to fess up to mistakes he's made in the past and learn from them.
He had his bad temper but he's a cool guy and honest and strong .
I feel stupid because I used to hate him as a kid being a Liverpool fan now I'm an adult and I see that he's a top quality guy XD. Good on you Wayne !!!
The drinking and off pitch unprofessionalism cost him in he’s later career. Look at Ronaldo who still going… Rooney will still go down as one of the greats
Never understand the mentality of wanting to go out and injure "someone" . You get players like that in every level of football. Dangerous twats looking to hurt anyone if things dont go their way. Its pathetic and unnecessary. You can take your frustration out by winning individual battles. Not by injuring someone else who loves playing football.

he & ronaldo are the reason i started following Manchester United
I'm certainly against his past actions as a scouser my self, Coleen as stood by him still in good & bad times to save her family& marriage even though she probably wanted to walk away anyone would man or women, but i highly respect her Scouse loyalty as a strong woman & for Wayne standing up for being straight & honest, hopefully hes learnt from his bad behaviour, these young footballers should take stock of all this & don't blow it. Just look at way George Best ended up wasting his life & gaza also but he's still here to tell his story, about his foolishness, another great player, am sure Wayne as learnt from this.. Good Luck for the future to you& your family & Godbless.🙏🏼 E.F.C.up the 🍬Lad. 💙from Liverpool..
Incredible player. England & United record goal scorer. But I think he may have been even better. Did not kick on after aged 24. There was another level he was capable of reaching.

When it was rumoured he was going to City, the bookies had him odds on on leaving to go there. I think they had Everton at something like 20-1 to be his next club. It may have been more than this. I felt he was not going to leave Man Utd, and thought that if he stayed there was a good chance his next club would be Everton at the end of his career. I put a bet on it, had to wait many years until the bet paid off.
