We built our home in 1996, raised our 5 kids in it. Now it is the hub for family gatherings, weddings, and sleepovers with the grandbabies. We tell them stories of their parents rollerblading on the subfloor where the are now sleeping. You guys will someday be older, kids gone, and live in your home surrounded by love and sweet memories! Fun with compound angles lol! I'm just always amazed at how you put your videos together. Always enough footage to tell the story but not so much as to be boring. Also constant angle changes and then the "asides". Erin, you're something! But Josh is too. ❤❤

Moving right along. You two are amazing. Erin had a mini stroke, and just picked right back up and away yall go right back at it again. It was nice to see Mike Morgan got down to see yall and your café. He said if we think their nice on KZread, you should meet them in person he said you're even nicer. Hopefully, one day, he and Mellisa will come, and yall can hook up again for a day and we will get some more content of all of you together, that would be so cool. Your not lying about your soaps and candles smelling so wonderful Mike about got pulled over for sniffing his soap on the way home 😂 Would have been even funnier if the cop pulled him and Mike handed him the soap and he wanted yalls info to order the soap LOL. Ellie has to be the sweetest choke on earth.that was jaut adorable seeing her laying there with the little lamb on her enjoying the sun and spoiling eachother. A 2' framing square gives you all the info on hip and valley rafters, it's a great source of knowledge

Looking good! Never doubt a Sparkys ability to figure out other trades; to do our job we already have a pretty good grasp of how everything else goes together. As for figuring out angles, compound cuts, etc., it's like bending conduit; eyeball it, bend it and check for fit. Adjust as necessary.

Now that you are done, all of the cut angles for your hip and valley rafters are on that framing square you were using.Nice job!!

Josh, Your work ethics and determination to overcome is commendable. You mentioned your common pitch was 18 & 12. Then you're valley pitch and Jack rafters would be 18 & 17 @ a 45° cut, if memory serves me well. 😊 Also, though by now you're probably beyond this point you might consider placing a dry line on top of your rafters perpendicular (across) the rafters to insure you're neither too high or low with each other. This will insure you have no dips or rises when you eventually deck the roof. BTW: There are two (some believe three) traits that distinguish a carpenter from a nail driver claiming to be a "carpenter". The first is whether one can cut in a stair case, the second is if they can cut in a roof (as you're now doing). I once cut in a roof that had only 3 common rafters, but had 17 hips and 9 valleys. It took my rookie crew of two and myself two weeks to cut that roof in (40 years ago). Just sayin.

Amazing work! You make the angle cuts look so easy because of your God-given positive attitude and patience. Erin, your work on the ladder is incredible. Those boards are very heavy and you make guiding them look so easy. Love watching your videos with clips of your land, livestock and precious daughter among the build. Simply amazing, sprinkled with grace❤️. Thank you so much.

Howdy guys…WOW!!! That portion of the framed roof looks so good. That is a very difficult framing challenge and looking at the frame plan really didn’t help to know how to cut those roof rafters. I’d still be scratching my head…

I’ve noticed the sporadic videos too, but I’m confident it’s just a combination of being busy with the build, the cafe, the candle making business, the soap making business, kids schooling, farm animals, and everything else including time as a family and couple. It’s a lot and I’m exhausted just thinking about it.

Josh, don't put screws or nails in your mouth. A coworker of mine was holding a screw in his and stepped back onto his his drill which caused him to trip and inhale the screw as he was falling back. Had to have surgery to remove it from his lung. As someone who used to do the same all the time, I never have done it since. Continue being awesome!
