As a person who came here for Rome 2 content a good while back..man I appreciate it. Not to say I don't enjoy your other content, but I missed this a ton I gotta say :)

I have the same feeling. I stoped watching heir after he switched over to warhammer. I prefer more historical approch games. Like empire, napoleon and rome 2 .

Man I love these Rome II battles. I love the tactics involved and how complex the battles get. I can't get into Warhammer as much because the battles are just such a chaotic mess most of the time, and the morale for all the units is so low in Warhammer that everyone keeps routing and reforming and it makes the battles feel unsatisfying and clumsy to me. If Warhammer battles lasted longer and monsters and other disruptive elements weren't able to totally plow through battle lines I would probably be more interested.

Actually warhammer multiplayer is much harder and needs much more tactics. If you don't know what is happening then it might seem chaotic but it really isn't. But historical battles are great too.

Yea. Warhammer multi is much, much harder to play since you need to micro more unit types, magic and heroes.

The factors of magic, artillery, heroes and unit variety makes Warhammer much more complicated to manage in multiplayer. But rome 2 definitely have its appeal as well because while it's more slower paced it's very tactical when it comes to positioning units and playing them right.

I love all of your content, but I originally came to the channel for Rome 2! It was the first of the series that I played, so I have a soft spot for it warts n' all. Glad to see you back on the ancient battlefields of Earth for a couple videos :)

Actually if I recall back in the day before Rome 2 came out, 8-9 yrs ago, you were the Shogun guy. That was the primary game you played and you were the master of it.

This was an interesting game to play, sof probably deserved a bit better from me after he toasted the Nervii army. Our coordination with Sof's infantry and my cavalry was just pretty poor in the final charge sequence, since I let 2 of his inf get charged by some shock cav. My cataphracts also failed to get a few charges which is always unfortunate with their slow turn speed. And never discount the armored numidian riders in a the late game-- they have excellent melee stats especially against low hp. With 2-3 jav vollies on a cappadocian cav, they will straight up win in melee.

My feelings are hurt. My men deserve respect! Now seriously yeah sofado rekt me. I copied 1 of lendon's builds which I found to be terrible fit for my playstyle, but still got a lot of kills on my germanic scouts which killed the briton slingers, killed your jav cav and also tied down your cav in late game, prob best game in the series, GG.

Borislav Tsvetkov Yeah ultimately killing those slingers was kind of important. I feel like we had the advantage going into that final sequence, but I’m not totally sure, it was obviously close

Loving these Rome 2 replays, missed these haha.

As much as I love the battles in Warhammer I do miss Rome 2 older total war battles really do feel different.

This was one of the most impressive games by both teams I've ever seen, I feel like. Just super impressive cat and mouse on the initial engagements and the disengage in the mid-late game was cool to watch. Great casting Heir!

Awesome nail biter of a battle. Can see some fascinating tactical decision making and unit characteristics. Especially like the team play as it adds another level of intrigue

Great battle. So close right until the end. It's gonna be very hard for Sefado and Hamilcar Barca to win three in a row to win the series, but we'll see what happens. I am loving the return for historical Total War content. I look forward to more of it.

Sweet Baby Jesus wasn't that a great cast :P. I loved how you explained the different units, the factions and even mentioned a comment from one of your subscribers. I don't think I can ever have such quality in my videos lol. As for the battle I could have picked either Nervii or Suebi to counter Iceni, problem is I suck with both so I just copied my teammate's build from another tournament. Thing is it doesn't quite work well for me, because I couldn't stop the Iceni cav from interrupting my charges, but I guess it still worked since the oathsworn tanked it out (our plan in this series is for me to hold and provide support as much as possible and for my teammate to kill them)

Europe was heavy infantry centric until the stirrup. Then it went back to heavy infantry centric with the pike.

Look at the TACTICS!!!!

Rome 2 has heavy vigour penalties of upto 60% stat loss when exhausted, so near the end of battle with those losses to stats the Elite heavy infantry is slow so they never catch slingers and their only protection is armour, and that is mitigated by singer fire making them like low tier infantry stat-wise, thats why slingers are handy end game as heavy infantry with high morale are the lone survivors, and due to less rout and regroups allowed in the game. Slingers are also the firs to rout at the starting skirmish so you find them far away but still available in late game. Javs are anti cav, slingers do more damage over time and live longer in skirmish due to the shield, Archers do huge damage to low armour, but with limited ammo and no shield. Shock Cav do a lot of impact damage, but carry a lance which helps in charge but is unwieldy in a prolonged fight, hence the low melee damage, and they dont have shields so glass cannons. Melee cav have low charge but a shield and high defence, in early Rome 2 they could not win against shock cav as Shock cav had exclusive bonus vs cav, which was removed later making Melee cav the best option. In melee engagements Charge is the king, same for cav. Battles are longer and unit only return from routing once unless they have high morale. This usually causes the 2nd standoff like this battle shows, instead of the scattered skirmishes in Warhammer where yous end whatever is not routing. Also Heir you have gotten super blunt on Rome 2, Head Hunting? lol, also you called a Heavy shock cav A Melee cav. You have homework for 5 hours of Rome 2 now!

I always felt like the Iceni and other briton factions should have had better cavalry than the Gallic factions. Historically they fought primarily using cavalry and chariots compared to their continental cousins.

There were a bunch of rules on faction selection and army builds. Factions get banned and then picked based on the remaining ones. Army compositions are also based on rules which I think heir has posted. The factions were pretty logical, I'd say.
